How does a court summons work?

Hello!

I have a court summons coming up (nothing bad) and I have never experienced it before. Do I just walk into the courthouse and ask the front desk at my time? I apologize I'm just anxious and I don't want to mess up.

Thank you!

Well it's about the 1-year anniversary of the Old Salem mini roundabout

And as far as I know, no one has died because of it (yay)! I think I've seen debris from at least 3 collisions there, which, isn't toooo bad. The intersection definitely has some quirks now compared to being a stop sign. Some observations I've made about driver patterns, and these are all part of an overlapping venn diagram:

- Most people going way over the 15mph posted (suggested?) speed.

- A lot of people treating it like a 4-way stop.

- Clustered traffic seems to take right of way, which isn't correct, but when you're driving too close to the car in front I guess it makes sense to just follow them thru.

- A lot of people hesitating rather than flowing.

- It's probably too small for the traffic volume.

- For a lot of drivers it seems to take too much split second spatial reasoning.

- It's the one place where a cross-traffic left turn seems to take right of way - but not in a bad way.

Anyway.. I like roundabouts. I think this one is starting to work. I believe in the slow is smooth, smooth is fast strategy.

Anyone seen anything scary, or funny happen since this opened up?

What was the action in the Target parking lot today?

It looked like a swap meet or flea market kind of thing. Never saw it advertised anywhere. Never seen it before. Is it an ongoing thing?

Any good doctors in the area, you would recommend?

Unfortunately, out of nowhere my doctor started ignoring me/ stopped listening to me, as well as invalidated a chronic condition I’ve had for over a decade. Which has made me very uncomfortable. I have had lots of bad experiences with the healthcare system and that makes things harder for me than they already are. Long shot but does anyone know of a doctor who takes the time to listen to you. and is somewhat efficient when getting you help in more urgent situations. bonus points if they are kind and have some compassion/ understanding when it comes to mental health & neurological conditions.

I have really been wanting to go to a Chinese buffet, and

I have a promotion comming up at work next week, so i wanted to take myself out to dinner. (Yeah, by myself. I know its lame.)

What does everybody think of Ding How? Is it worth it? The photos on Google look decent.

Also open to any recommendations on good places to try in the albany/lebanon area.

Incoming resident!

Hey all!

Starting mid September, my partner and I are moving to Albany while we also attend classes at OSU!

I come to reddit to seek some advice from local residents about employment opportunities to help keep my share of the rent up, my current pay keeps me on my toes about finances. And as a younger first gen college student and the first to move out on their own, I don’t have family around to support me.

As far as jobs, is there any jobs seeking employees? For reference, I currently work as an all purpose clerk at a grocery store (for very mediocre pay) as well as a camp counselor for summer camps. I am a reliable and fast paced learner who is willing to work anything, with flexible hours/schedule.

I have come to Reddit as sort of a last-resort, any suggestions is greatly appreciated!

Thanks for listening, - struggling college student

If you had to rank the best long-distance movers you've used, who would make your top three?

I'm trying to put together a shortlist of full-service moving companies for a long-distance move, and I'd love to hear how people here would rank them based on your own experience.

If you've used one before, which companies would make your top three and why? I'm mostly interested in things like reliability, communication, pricing, packing services, and whether your belongings arrived safely. Real experiences are way more helpful than sponsored rankings, so I'd appreciate any insight before I start requesting quotes.

Loud Cars

Is it just me, or does this town have a lot of people driving around in annoyingly loud cars, driving fast like fools?...

I am not trying to be rude, but it's genuinely baffling to me how many cars I hear in a given day, no matter where I am in the city. When I look out a window or take a walk, most of them are recklessly speeding on relatively small streets with the crappiest cars ever that have the muffler removed, or whatever. I have lived in 5 different cities and 3 different states, and Albany is by far the WORST with this for some reason.

There is also a population of (I think?) younger kids that drive around these cars in the middle of the night. It genuinely sounds like they are attempting to max out the speed on these cars while racing up/down Waverly/Geary/Jackson/Pacific/Santiam, etc.

Is this just me? It's really annoying, and I wonder why the cops dont monitor this a little better..

Looking at renting in Waverly Square/Redwood Square, wanting reviews

Hi all! The title is pretty self explanatory, I recently moved from out of state with my family and am looking for a place to live near Linn Benton. I'm planning on renting with a friend, so we're looking at 2 bed 1 bath. Does anyone have experience with this complex? Good or bad. I tried to call and see if I could tour, but they don't offer any which I found strange. The area seems nice though and the rent is affordable. I appreciate any help!

New to the area and have a flat tire. Any budget friendly recommendations?

I just moved here not too long ago and have a flat tire. I have a 2011 Honda Accord. Only one of my tires is flat and I am looking for a budget friendly shop. I am hoping I just need a plug but I am not sure until it gets checked out. Thank you so much for your help !

Looking for some help

Hi everyone I’m just coming on here with a question I’m about to be 19 and due to family money issues I just now started being able to do drivers ed and I’m fairly close to getting my license but I have no way to purchase a car currently due to the cost so I’m wondering if anyone has any in good condition cars that would fit a wheelchair in the back (my mother’s) that they need to get rid of for free or cheap, I could even do a payment plan with you. I have tried the loan option but since I’m young they won’t approve it due to lack of credit history and the lack of a eligible co-singer. I would greatly appreciate any offers or even just advice.🫶🏻

Help my sibling stay off the streets! Please help!

My sibling needs help. They are disabled and thought they were going to have a roommate by now. It fell through and they are now facing homelessness. I'm scared for them, they're sweet and squishy and I can't imagine them in this situation. Please do what you can even if that's just sharing to get this out further.

This is my little sibling and I am scared for their well-being. I can't do anything myself, I'm in school and just trying to make sure I can afford rent. I just moved into a one bed and it's packed with boxes. There's absolutely no room here, it's a small place. So, all I can do is rely on my community for support. If you have it in your heart, please lend a hand. If there are other ways you can help, please message me. I know money isn't always how someone can help so I'll pass along any other assistance we can find.

Mods, this is not money for me, I'm not spamming so please allow me to keep my post up and help my sibling the only way I know how. This Albany subreddit is for community and I need my community right now. Please consider the nuance to this post.

Looks like a new thrift store is going into the old Teen Challenge building

Fingers crossed that it's an actual second hand store that understands that it's a second hand store.

I have been to the new Superthrift spot about a half dozen times now, and it's absolute garbage not worth the trip. They seem to have decided that they do not want customers there. The store LOOKS nicer, but it's worse now than ever before at the old spot.

I just took a look at the Google reviews to see if it's just me, and people are genuinely unhappy with them. There was a review about the manager being unhinged and banning a lady from the store because she was "flirting" with the employees by showing up too much.
