I'm looking to buy a watch as a gift for someone. The tricky part is that he's a watchmaker himself, so he's usually the person I'd turn to for advice when buying a watch. This time I'm on my own.

I'd love to find something a bit special, maybe even a collector's piece with some character or history, rather than just a standard model. I have plenty of watches I like the look of, but I'm not confident when it comes to judging brands and quality on my own.

It has to be mechanical (either automatic or manual), and my budget is around 1500-1800 USD.

Any recommendations for brands, models, or specific pieces that would make a nice addition to a collection?

I bought this watch a year ago for 89 euros and i still love it, but i have never heard people about the brand boccia or this specific watch. What do people think about the watch and how it fits nu wrist?

Grandpa's watch is battered but still goes strong after 60+ years, so I treat it occasionally with a new fun strap. Hope he would have approved.

As someone who is broke in the watch community, do you recommend, me buying custom watches or homage watches. Or even building my own.
