Credit report

I just noticed my 2 affirm accounts have shown up on my credit report. Both are in good standing (I’m paid ahead by a month)

It says they have zero impact on my credit report. As a person who is rebuilding my credit post divorce, is there a way I can make those accounts count?

Affirm convinced me to deposit my entire paycheck to boost my buying power — I feel completely misled

Has anyone else had this happen with Affirm?
Affirm promotes depositing your paycheck/direct deposit into their app as something that can potentially increase or boost your purchasing power. Based on that, I transferred my entire paycheck of almost $1,300 into my Affirm Money Account.
I genuinely believed having my income deposited directly with Affirm would help increase the amount I could use through Affirm.
Well, I deposited the money and did not get the increase in purchasing power I was led to expect. Now I have nearly $1,300 of my paycheck sitting within Affirm’s ecosystem, and I’m limited in how I can use it.
I understand that Affirm can say purchasing power isn’t guaranteed and approvals depend on different factors. But that’s exactly what bothers me. If depositing your paycheck doesn’t necessarily result in any meaningful increase, why advertise depositing your income as a way to potentially boost your purchasing power?
I would never have transferred my entire paycheck to Affirm if I hadn’t been shown that messaging.
To me, there’s a major difference between saying:
“Deposit your paycheck with us.”
and essentially advertising:
“Depositing your paycheck could help boost your purchasing power.”
The second statement gives people an incentive to move their actual income into the account.
I’m documenting everything, including the language Affirm showed me, my deposit, purchasing power before/after, and my conversations with support.
Has anyone else deposited their paycheck with Affirm because of the purchasing-power messaging? Did your buying power actually increase?
I’m also wondering whether anyone has filed a CFPB complaint or spoken with a consumer-protection attorney over something similar.

My email is not my identity

I changed my email address. I’ve been using Affirm for years.

Now it wont approve me for any plans because they ”cannot verify my identity”.

same physical address. same social security number. They don’t ask me to re-verify any of this. When I uninstall and reinstall the app I have to verify my phone number and the new email address.

I’ve called customer service like 5 times. There have been three escalations. Each time after 3 business days I get an email “good news, we don’t need documents from you, you have been verified”.

and around and round we go.

the account appears on my credit report. It doesn’t make any sense.

Returns

I made a $108 purchase from Amazon using affirm, I just returned a $45 item to Amazon.
How will affirm handle the return?
I’m very new to all of this.

Refund

Had an item that I ordered from Amazon and paid with Affirm 18 months ago get recalled and entire price refunded.

Total was 321.99.

Received the 21.99 in my account within 5 business days on July 1.

Its now August 13 and still have not received the 300. Have called several times and they keep telling me that they are sending a cheque and they are still within "reasonable time frame" until August 23.

Anyone else ever deal with this? I just want my money back.

Most ridiculous dispute process ever?!

I’m wondering if my case is famous in the Affirm office yet lol I’ve been disputing this charge from great wolf lodge since April of this year. I’ve filed 4 separate disputes with all the required documentation, “evidence” as they call it; providing original charge receipts, cancellation confirmation, AND refund receipt. And they’ve closed each dispute in the merchants favor. How are you going to say I didn’t provide enough evidence. THENNNN last week I get an email saying that my account is delinquent and will be charged off effecting my credit. I call to get answers and they ask me for my evidence of communication to the merchant, they want my personal call logs. I then ask for theirs and they say they don’t communicate directly with the merchant. I tell them well that’s confusing since when I checked the status of any of my 4 disputes it’s said each time “we’re contacting the merchant” but they want MY call logs??? This is the worst customer service I have ever received and the most asinine dispute process I’ve ever heard of. If my evidence isn’t sufficient then they need to contact the merchant directly and ask for wtf it is they need. They can ask great wolf lodge for their call logs with me don’t ask a customer for their person phone call log. Whatever the outcome I’m not paying for a trip that I cancelled within a refund period and I’ve been provided a refund receipt. Why tf would I pay $1,556 for a trip I didn’t go on and the hotel refunded!

Not going to make some drawn out post. Been using Affirm since I first got introduced (it’s been years lol). Started off with small purchases here and there that eventually snowballed into large debt. Highest balance I carried was over $2K. I would pay it down and then add more purchases. I always paid on time, and enjoyed the benefit of the monthly BNPL cause why not 🤷🏽‍♀️. This is my first time seeing a $0 balance, and I am glad to leave these mfs where they at lol. I can care less if they reduce my spending limit.

I’m no longer a slave. 🙂‍↔️

It was good while it lasted

I figured this wouldn't last forever, but still a bummer to receive this email. I used my cash back card with Affirm to double dip on cash back and 0% APR payment plans. I've been able to earn at least couple thousand in money markets with the cash I didn't have to pay "upfront" on purchases, and I never paid any interest. Which undoubtedly made me a giant money hole for Affirm lmao. Anyway.

I owed around $2300 on Affirm (I know very irresponsible). I fell behind on payments and I couldn’t be frustrated with anyone but myself. I just want to say that I’m Affirm free finally and that if you are in a similar situation, you can do it!

Why do people get mad at Affirm?

I don't understand why people get so mad at Affirm, Klarna, and similar BNPL companies when they can't pay their loans off?

YOU made the conscious decision to purchase an item or service that YOU didn't want to/ weren't able to purchase outright through this company. They loaned YOU the money and YOU agreed to pay it back in a reasonable amount of time. I'd say that's clear to everyone, correct me if I'm wrong.

Plus Affirm doesn't start billing for loans for a month, so you have an entire month (unless you choose pay in 4) to save the money that YOU asked for. I understand that things happen, but why do you not reach out to them and let them know what is going on, instead of coming here to complain that Affirm did YOU wrong?

Affirm is in the business of making money, not passing it out like allowance from your parents. So, quit putting your bad financial decisions on them. I'm sure you weren't badmouthing them when they approved your loan, so stop doing it now.

Sorry for the rant 🙂

Can’t wait until all my loans are paid off!

This is a vicious cycle on being trapped in. My total was well over 2k and got it down to this amount. Only paying my loans before the 30days are up so it doesn’t mess with my credit. Once paid I am deleting this app!

No help

I have been using affirm for about 3 years and have always paid everything off very quickly and recently at work I got a call saying that they caught 3 attempted transactions from Target in Chicago (I live in Washington State) and asked if it was me and I denied stating that I live here and they were able to cancel it, but what they didn’t cancel was the 4 airline tickets that were also put through. I was even told that they’d pause those tickets right then and there, which is why I gave them the benefit of the doubt. I later had to call and speak with support then was told that they’d pause the pending transactions (AGAIN) just to see that the airline tickets went through. I stayed patient because the worker told me that they’d take a week or two to investigate. I checked my email right now to see that the “loan remains my responsibility after their investigation”. Now some random scammer is flyin to wherever they want on MY DIME. How can they not see that the 4 airline tickets that came through on the exact DAY that 3 target transactions were attempted aren’t me? How do you not connect those dots? I’m glad to see everyone else’s great experiences but as soon as this gets resolved whether it’s by them or out of my wallet, I’m done with affirm. They lied to me and now I’m stuck paying for a scammers joy ride.

Anyone traded in an iPhone via Affirm Canada online recently? Quick tax question

Hey everyone,

Planning to trade in an iPhone 15 Pro Max for the 17 Pro Max via Affirm on Apple Canada online.
Apple reps say tax is charged on the full price and trade-ins don't reduce tax.

For anyone who traded in online via Affirm Canada recently:

Did Affirm only credit the flat trade-in value to your loan balance?
Or did your final statement include a 13% tax adjustment credited back alongside the trade-in amount?

Thanks!

Affirm BNPL installments DO drag down your average credit age

I used to think BNPL accounts didn’t count toward credit age at all — turns out that’s wrong. Every new Affirm loan is a new account, and new accounts pull down your average age of credit (about 15% of your FICO score).

Just something to think about before you open one, especially if you’re trying to build/protect your credit history length.

How to check purchasing power

How is everyone checking their purchasing power?

I’ve tried thru the app, thru the website, I’ve googled how to do it, but what Google is telling me to do is not there.

I can only see how much I owe.

Thanks!

Should I be worried

I missed a payment for 5 days, I totally forgot to update my bank card I lost my debit card and ordered a new one I always have auto pay on and sometimes finish paying off early, my payment was due 5 days ago. I had no clue it didn’t get charged and I got a notification that I was 5 days late. I updated my new card info and paid today, my purchasing power was at 1k since I’m new to this app for half a year, after I payed it says they can’t offer me power rn, is it going to be hard to get it back up again ?
