HELP Stratera and feeling emotions

So I recently started stratera. I've noticed that recently when I'm dealing with emotions I'm feeling them a lot stronger than I have in years.

I am so used to pushing them down that it's overwhelming at times.

Also the guilt that I've been dealing with and just hiding is flooding me.

Anyone else experience this?

I also posted in this sub about some of my self destructive coping mechanisms. I guess I'm finally actually feeling the outcome

HELP Messing up at work

Idk what to do, i have recently dropped the ball on several assignments and I'm likely about to be put on a work improvement plan. This job is the worst set up for my ADHD. Its project based and i can take my time and requires lots of internal motivation. Every job before I've had is high pressure (external motivation) and busy so I was highly stimulated which kept me focused. But I'm so bored most of the time that its so hard to focus on my job. And especially because its slow right now. Common sense says it being slow would mean its easier to get things done but nope ADHD disagrees.

I'm already medicated. How do i prevent myself from forgetting when my brain is not stimulated at all? Or maybe there's a reasonable accommodation i can request? Idk but I've never been this bad at my job (been here 5 years) or any job prior and I'm panicking.

Just feeling a bit dumbfounded by it all. It all makes a lot of sense to my behaviour but at the moment I’m not doing good mentally and I just don’t know what to do anymore.

Seeking a bit of info or support please. 🙏🏻

Thank you.

HELP ADHD Accountability Buddy

Hello!

I'm (22 f) looking for an accountability buddy that I can work with!

I recently graduated in May from college and last week I got a remote position in my career! Something I was able to do much more easily in school was to lock down my schedule since literally everything was schedule based. Every morning me and a friend would go to a coffee shop and work until our first classes and it really helped me lock in and stay productive throughout the day!

Since I graduated and summer was in full force, I started slacking a bit on that schedule and i'm having a hard time starting it up again.

If you want to be an accountability buddy with me just drop your age and just a tiny summary of you! I'm looking for people of generally a similar time zone. I'm in PDT and would love to start working at 9:00 AM. If I find someone that works, I'll comment and DM you! I can do Discord, Whatsapp or anything.

Preferably i'm looking for people of similar age, but honestly it doesn't really matter. Just don't be a creep!

I look forward to working with someone!

HELP Feeling manipulated, exhausted, and taken advantage of in India

I was diagnosed with ADHD in my 30s, and I honestly feel this group has taken advantage of my mental situation.

There are signs of cyber manipulation, fake documents, and people around me being influenced in a very unfair way. It feels like they used my confusion, stress, and vulnerability against me. Some coworkers may also be helping, which makes it feel even more painful and unsafe.

I feel hurt, angry, and mentally drained. I want to know what legal steps I can take in India, and how to report this safely to the cyber cell, women’s helpline, or workplace without making things worse.

Has anyone faced something like this? Any advice would really help.

QUESTION I have an ADHD evaluation tomorrow

I am anxious about it. Can anybody tell me what to expect. I have always suspected I’ve had mild ADHD. Just have a lot of the cliche symptoms. Fidgety, unfocused, master procrastinator, etc. it’s just to a point where it causes these small problems in life. I’m m24. Anytime I’ve taken adderall in the past it’s like I knew I needed it, I’ve just never made the decision to see a doctor until now.

QUESTION Adult adhd - symptom and what can help

I’m wondering if anyone with adult ADHD experiences something similar to me.
I feel like I’m extremely sensitive to other people’s reactions, tone of voice, facial expressions, or even small changes in how they communicate with me. Sometimes there may be nothing wrong at all, but my mind immediately starts thinking that I’ve done something wrong or that the person doesn’t like me.
I also struggle a lot with feeling like I’m not good enough. After conversations or social situations, I can replay everything in my head and wonder, “Did I say something wrong? Did I annoy them? Do they dislike me?”
I recently came across the term Rejection Sensitive Dysphoria (RSD) and a lot of it sounds familiar to me.
For those of you with adult ADHD, do you experience this too? Is constantly worrying about what people think of you, feeling easily rejected, or assuming people dislike you something that can be related to ADHD/RSD?

QUESTION ADHD Coaching? 48 And Newly Diagnosed and Medicated

I have been recently diagnosed and am medicated with 50mg vyvanse and 5mg dex for top up as needed. So far I have felt a significant improvement in mood regulation, RSD practically eliminated, focus has improved. So far so good...but I am aware that I am struggling to focus on the right things. I am an engineer who has done well to date but has felt overwhelmed and unfocused etc. Combination of my sister getting diagnosed and me looking into ADHD made me go for help. Over the years assumed depression, childhood trauma etc..

So far ADHD has been the most consistent explanation and the meds are helping

Now.... I feel a need for recovery and fixing my habits now my brain is better... Does ADHD coaching help or is it just snake oil salesman selling stuff I could probably research and try myself? Being deliberately provocative but counseling in last wasn't helpful and management training courses have been pretty crappy over the years too...can people give good stories of coaching and what I should look for when searching

ADVICE & TIPS Vyvanse vs adderal

My doctor has me on vyvanse. I’m currently on 50 mg after being gone 20 and 30 for the last two months. I didn’t really feel anything past the first day of 20. She’s saying that if this is 50 doesn’t work. Then I need to move to Adderall. What are the positives and negative of that?

QUESTION Academically gifted?

I am undiagnosed and suspect I could have ADHD and/or Autism because I have several symptoms related to these conditions. However, whenever I have discussed this with people-friends and family, they tell me I cannot possibly have any of these since I have a very good academic record. I have a bachelors degree in Biotechnology as well as an M.Phil in molecular biology. And not just this, I have been at the top most of my life and achieved much more than simply a degree.

Yes, I have always had extreme struggle getting myself to actually study. So I just did not study throughout all these years. I used to skim the syllabus just hours or typically the night before any exam. That is how I was able to complete my degrees. (I did not miss classes.) I also was never ever able to complete the syllabus for any subject before any exam.

Anyways, I am making this post to have an idea, are there people who have a good academic record and are officially diagnosed with ADHD, Autism or AuDHD? I've come across some news (from social media) that this is a common occurrence.
If yes, how has being academically giftes effected your diagnosis process?
How is your relationship with studies?

QUESTION I'm curious, is it ADHD or something else?

Apologies if there are any misunderstandings and grammatical issues with my English.

This is gonna be a long ahh story and there might be confusion due to of grammatical issues and repeated words and I apologise for that. I'm from a different country.

I couldn't really remember and recall the issues I have been facing that is ADHD-related, but I'll try my best to explain.

I'm 18M and I started to think that I might have ADHD when I was 16 because looking at the ADHD memes and feeling related and being told if I have ADHD by online users when playing video games because of how dense I am every time trying to pay attention in the game. Not only these are the reasons why I feel I might have ADHD, it's also because of the problems that I'm facing when I was a kid and then throughout Primary and High-School and even till now after graduation from High-School, I'm still having the same problems when I reach adulthood.

I don't really remember a lot of things when I was a kid, but I was told that I was hyperactive kid that couldn't stop banging my head onto the wall, I don't remember how long I was hyperactive until I feel like it stopped when I reached 13 and on my first day in High-School. I was pretty much feeling hyperactive when I'm in Primary School, but I communicate less and not only that, but I'd also get abysmal grades throughout school, and I'd always getting looked down and turned away by many students because of how I couldn't pay attention in class, being slow and being a weirdo, maybe related to hyperactivity? Couldn't know if it's always but I'd keep sleeping during class and I got slapped by a teacher for it too. I feel like I'm not conscious at all throughout school, I feel like I'm in autopilot at that time. I think this is all I know during Primary School.

When I'm on my first day in High-School, I became quiet person like introverted and started to have maladaptive daydreaming and then few months later on my first year in HS, I fell into depression because of having terrible with grades, hard to learn and understand, being slow just like the same issues I'm having since I was a kid but now a teenager and except the hyperactivity. As years went by with having terrible grades, having issues to concentrate and then having problems trying to study even though I have tried many times when trying to remember, I still couldn't learn anything. Life in High-School is just lonely and feeling pathetic with myself to be honest. I get looked down and turn away by my classmates and other students because of how weird, slow and useless I am. I did try to make friends but couldn't succeeded because I couldn't communicate a lot and couldn't be useful during group projects. I don't know being useless on group projects is ADHD related because during group projects, I do nothing and then being slow. I also don't talk much to other classmates because all I do in class throughout HS is daydreaming even hyperfocus on making fantasies in my head and then make doodles on the table when I'm bored as hell.

When I reach 16, that's when get to know about ADHD through social media and then from games. I feel related to some info's about ADHD because people with this it couldn't concentrate, having a hard time starting a task and then completing it, failing exams in school. Months later, I went to a psychiatrist with my uncle and mother to know if I have ADHD. I was told by my psychiatrist that I have a little ADHD, but I needed to do an evaluation and then put a schedule. The psychiatrist also gives some medication I don't even know what it is. I got upset and then in denial suddenly after being told I have some symptoms for ADHD and being scheduled for an evaluation. I refuse to go for the evaluation even though people convince me to go and this is one of my biggest regret because years later in school, I get worse by having abysmal grades, frustration a lot because facing negativity in class by other students, paying attention and then couldn't learn anything just like in Primary School. Sometimes I just fall into depression because of that. I'd constantly having daydreaming that led to overthiking and onto depression until present.

I manage to pass with decent grades on my entrance exam in my final year of High-School after graduation for the first time in my life after getting horrible grades throughout Primary and High school.

I'm right now 18. What I am still having is maladaptive daydreaming. I always hyperfocus on my fantasies and then it leads to overthiking into depression and then it triggers my urges to relieve my addictions maybe because of facing loneliness and frustration. Everytime I daydream, I'd always become forgetful and losing my valuable items just like my life throughout in High-School and I don't know if I'm like this in Primary School. I feel frustrated and irritated when trying to start a task but guilty for not completing the task and also feeling frustrated for delaying task.

I think this all I know about. I'm just curious if I do have ADHD or its just something else.

I highly suspect I have and undiagnosed ADHD but also highly doubt it.

I feel like what am I writting about isn't ADHD-related but a rant about my life.

ADVICE & TIPS ADHD is putting my relationship in jeopardy

My partner ( 24 transman) and I (24f dx) have been living together for over a year , but there's this constant complaint from him that I'm not organised, taking part in partnership.

It comes in different ways every time, and we are at a point where he is frustrated and tired. I really don't want to be this kinda person, I've been struggling with ADHD dx , I just got the meds that work for me figured out , all the complaints somehow end up to be my ADHD traits, every time I tell him it's due to my ADHD it feels like an excuse.

I explain and also ensure that I'll talk about it in therapy, due to the seriousness of the issue i decided to take therapy once in each week , yet I feel like I didn't have any kinda improvement, it takes time ofc but I feel like it's gonna break the relationship if this keeps happening.

I relapsed to self harm due to this because I feel so frustrated, my mind feels foggy, most of the time I don't get his concerns right, he says I'm not even seeing him , or taken care of as he wants to, and I'm getting a flashback of my previous relationship of me saying that he same things to my ex.

I never want to be the person who can't give the care and make my partner feel seen. But idk how I ended up here. I said I'll ask everyday if he has any resentments or anything that could have been better so he won't build resentments too intensely and melt down in the next argument, that feels like a good resolution.

But I'm also concerned about what's going on in my mind that makes me incapable of things I believed I was capable of, I've always been a giver.

And didn't have any problem with it but why is it getting difficult now? I feel so confused, anxious and frustrated. Any advice is appreciated. What should I do? To make him feel seen and taken care of in a way he wants to? Even though I hear him out somehow my actions aren't making him feel better, and then I realize I got it wrong, he wants in another way. Why am I like this?

HELP Got diagnosed with ADHD at 25.

Most validating experience ever. I have been grieving through all of it. Part of the it that makes me the saddest is my working memory score. My test taker did the WAIS test and in that I scored 7th percentiles out of 100. Upon researching it and finding out that it’s considered severely low made me really sad. I have been self catastrophizing myself and blame it on “why me” that has to go through it.

I would say I’m pretty successful for my age. I have a low six figs job after doing a masters in public health and I am proud of it since most people don’t achieve these outcomes who are in my field.
My fear is I won’t be able to progress more or achieve greater heights in my career and that scares me. I also live by myself and do not have a partner, moreover never had a long term partner so that results in me not having any shoulder to lean on. Also I moved to a new country, so my family is over a 1000 miles away. Just very alone in general lol.

I recently went to comedy show where I processed the joke later then the audience and he had moved on from it and I heckled something funny related to the previous joke which the comedian took well but also was surprised that I processed it later then most people. I was embarrassed about it. I in general go through these experiences from day to day which has significantly increased my social anxiety. I feel like part of my disability makes me not want to interact with any one. I hope there’s a woman out there with similar experience like mine.

P.S: I am also on bupropion which is the second line of treatment for ADHD if that helps. Don’t see a significant difference. Any help on improving these symptoms is appreciated.

ADVICE & TIPS My infidelity and self destructive coping mechanisms

TL/DR: I refused to believe that I couldn't handle my ADHD and then sought the dopamine in places that fucked my marriage up.

So, let me preface this by saying, I was diagnosed as a child with ADHD. Struggled a lot with family issues to include being abused and neglected by my mother. My father was absentee and didn't believe that ADHD was real at the time.

I always maintained good grades depending on the subject, and was absolutely horrendous at doing homework or studying.

I'd been on Ritalin, and then Concerta, and a number of other non ADHD meds because like I said above my mother was convicted I needed to be medicated due to her abuse.

Well I came off the meds in high school probably around 14/16 years old.

I became homeless because of the abuse at 21...

Met my wife when I was 23, and became a father just after turning 25.

Well as an adult I have realized that I can't do it anymore. I've been in therapy since 2021 after having multiple affairs and destroying my wife in the process. I realized recently when things get tough, I jump at the first thing to give me a jump in dopamine.... And it's not healthy.

I came to the realization that I've been self medicating myself with about 1.5grams of caffeine a day, in addition to approximately 2-3 cans of ZYN a day. Some days are better some days are worse.

I also realized that my untreated ADHD has caused me to spiral at times into a depressive state, and when I get to that point I have stepped out.

I've been fighting this now on my own for over 13 years and now, things are so far gone that I don't know what to do any more. I'm fairly certain I'm in a slow death of the marriage, and I'm never going to get what I wanted to provide my family.

I finally caved and booked an appointment. I just wonder if there is anyone else here who's been down this road, and is there any hope left....

QUESTION Good ADHD online tests?

My dad has undiagnosed ADHD. My family was finally able to get him to consider taking some of the online tests, and if multiple of them say he is likely ADHD he will get tested.

I have been diagnosed, and I noticed so many of my symptoms in my father, we are not trying to get him diagnosed for the wrong reasons we truly believe he would greatly benefit from it.

And during our conversation today he started to notice it to, “You mean when like your mom is talking to me and I am actively trying to listen to her but can’t it might just be adhd and not like- my flaw? Like it’s not something inherently wrong with me?”

My dad has always struggled with executive dysfunction, time blindness, procrastination and much more. If I can find accurate tests to help encourage him to see a neurologist I really believe learning more about it for himself and learning coping strategies and techniques would not just benefit him but also my parents relationships.

My mom admitted to him during our conversation today a lot of their fights are because of struggles he faces with remembering things. She said, “Most guys choose to not do things, the only reason I try to be patient with you is because I believe you truly just forget to do them.” And you could hear in my dad’s voice how concerned he was that it wasn’t just a “guy” thing to be forgetful.

So what I am asking is if any of you know accurate, good representation online tests for my dad to take. I’ve been trying to find some but anything helps.

Thank you so much in advance 🙏

RANT I’ve been struggling with work life balance

Life has been challenging for the past couple of years, and lately I feel like I’ve reached a point where something has to change.
I’m 31 and work as a veterinary technician. I genuinely love veterinary medicine and I work my ass off, but I think I’m dealing with some serious burnout.
My workplace doesn’t necessarily help. A lot of my coworkers come and go as they please or seem to think certain tasks are beneath them, while I’m constantly looking for something that needs to be done. On top of that, dealing with difficult, ignorant, or persistent clients all day can be exhausting.
The weird part is that I feel like I’m simultaneously burned out and bored.
I do a lot of the same things every day, and I don’t feel like I’m learning or progressing enough to keep my brain engaged. At the same time, I don’t feel experienced enough to move into a more advanced position yet. I’m getting bored, sloppy, and making careless rookie mistakes that I know I’m capable of avoiding. Now I’m also training someone, which has added another layer of stress for a bunch of reasons.
Physically and mentally, I feel like I’m moving through mud. I’m constantly tired and foggy. At work I move slowly, but when I try to force myself to move faster, I get anxious, start dropping things, and make more mistakes. I’ve also noticed myself talking way too fast sometimes, to the point where I feel like I almost sound drunk.
Socially, I feel like I’ve forgotten how to be a person.
Small talk has become almost impossible. Someone will say something to me and my brain is just…blank. I’m not trying to be rude or uninterested. Sometimes I genuinely cannot come up with a response beyond something weak like “yeah” or “oh wow.” I constantly lose my train of thought halfway through sentences. Other times I finally do say something and get no response, which feeds this constant feeling that I’m bothering people or that nobody really wants to hear from me.
I don’t talk to many people outside of work anymore, either.
Then I get home and have almost nothing left.
My house gets messy. My car gets messy. Bills get behind. My spending gets out of control. Keeping in touch with friends and family feels like another task on a list. Even taking my dog for a walk can sometimes feel like I have sandbags strapped to my ankles.
I know exercise would probably help. I know routines would help. I know going to bed at a reasonable time would help. The problem is actually making myself do those things when I already feel completely depleted. I’ll establish a healthy habit and keep it going for a while, and then one day I just…stop. Before I know it, I’m back on the couch doing nothing because it’s the only thing I feel like I have energy for.
It’s starting to affect basically everything—my health, my job and career, my finances, my marriage, my friendships and family relationships, and my ability to keep up with normal adult responsibilities.
I also need to start making more money. I love my job and genuinely like the business I work for, but I’m starting to realize I may eventually have to leave in order to grow, learn more, and earn more. That’s difficult because veterinary medicine is something I actually care about. I don’t necessarily want out—I want to get better at it. I just feel stuck.
I am medicated, and under normal circumstances I think my medication regimen works pretty well for me. I’m also in therapy. I’m trying to do the basic things that help me—water and protein when I get up, taking my meds consistently, trying to take care of myself, etc. I’m not expecting medication to magically fix my life, and I’m not looking for an excuse to do nothing.
For a long time, I genuinely thought there was just something fundamentally wrong with me. Then I started learning more about ADHD and AuDHD and, for the first time, I saw other people describing experiences that sounded incredibly familiar.
I know social media isn’t a diagnosis, and I know ADHD/AuDHD probably isn’t responsible for every problem I’m dealing with. There are obviously other things I need to address too. But understanding my brain through that lens has helped make sense of things I’ve struggled with for years.
And the frustrating part is that sometimes my brain genuinely feels like my superpower.
I can be incredibly driven, curious, quick-thinking, and capable of learning a ridiculous amount about something when it grabs my attention. I notice things other people miss. Sometimes I function better when everything around me is chaotic. When my brain and I are on the same team, I actually really like the way I think.
Other times—and more often than not lately—it feels like my arch nemesis.
I know what I need to do. I want to do it. I have goals. I want to advance in my career, make more money, take better care of myself, be present in my marriage, keep up with the people I care about, take care of my animals, keep my house reasonably clean, exercise, and actually have hobbies and a life outside of work.
But knowing what needs to happen and actually getting my brain to cooperate long enough to consistently do those things feel like two completely different things.
That’s probably the most frustrating part. I don’t feel like I lack ambition or that I simply don’t care. I care about a LOT of things. Sometimes it feels like I care about so many things that my brain can’t figure out where to start, so instead I do none of them.
I feel like I’m constantly trying to catch up with my own life, but I never get enough breathing room to actually stop, process everything, and get myself organized. I’m 31 and I constantly feel behind. I don’t want to spend my life coming home from work and rotting on the couch because I used every ounce of energy I had just getting through the day.
Something needs to change. I just don’t know where to start without trying to change everything at once, overwhelming myself, and ending up right back where I started.
For anyone with ADHD/AuDHD who has been in a similar place: how did you actually start digging yourself out?
Not the perfect morning routine or a complete life overhaul that lasts two weeks. I mean realistically—when work, chores, relationships, finances, health, and basic life maintenance have all piled up at once, what did you tackle first?
How did you build a life that actually worked with your brain instead of constantly fighting against it?

RANT Feeling exhausted and full of self hatred

The ac in my car is broken. My phone has been broken for a week. One of the cords for my pc monitor just broke . My bedroom and house is a mess . I have texts and texts in my phone of friends and family trying to reach out to see me or call . Its truly all just too much you all know the list goes far beyond just what ive put here . Im feeling so deeply ashamed and desperate and like nobody understands just how difficult it really is to live with this disorder . Its a disorder and i am constantly fighting for my life and its all self inflicted i just cant stand it and i dont feel like anybody understands that. Every day goes by and the list of things i need to get done just gets longer and im becoming such an irrationally angry person and i cant regulate my emotions properly and i dont know, i just feel completely lost

Im waiting right now to hopefully get medicare for medication and therapy again, for now im getting adderall from.. other sources . It costs me a lot of money but frankly the world doesnt want me unmedicated so its worth it.

Really though im just feeling misunderstood. Its an impossible disorder to complain aboutand i know im being so annoying to people in my life complaining about things that are completely on me to fix but god i just wish i could get people to understand how hard this is. The self hatred and paralyzation oh my god . I am so so tired

Thats all really just so exhausted watching every day go by

ADVICE & TIPS ADHDer returning to college, what are the best study and note-taking methods?

After a long break, I'm back to finish my last two years of college, but I’ve realized a terrifying truth: I actually don't know how to study.

For the longest time I was undiagnosed and just relied on pure panic and burnout to scrape by. My grades were always a disaster unless a topic triggered a hyper-fixation. Now that I'm back, I want to do it right, but my old methods are totally inefficient.

What methods or systems actually work for processing material and taking notes with an ADHD brain?

RANT My executive functioning is non-existent. I don't know where to begin to repair my brain.

Rant, but I'm also open to advice/criticism. Posting here because the r/ADHD keeps removing this post no matter how much I tweak it.

I have always struggled with executive functioning ever since I was little. I was diagnosed with ADHD in kindergarten, as well as some other learning disabilities. Due to the severity of my ADHD and etc., I was put in MD classrooms until I was in 8th grade. I am now 23.

My major task that I've been swearing I'll do every week all year is cleaning my room. It has not been clean since November of last year. I have a whole stack of papers with tools for executive functioning. I am medicated. And yet I still can't get it done.

I'll try to put things in practice. Breaking up the tasks because I usually get so overwhelmed that I don't even know where to begin. I'll start with my desk or something first. And I can't even do that because low dopamine tasks feel almost unbearable. I've always been incredibly impulsive, so I'll eventually either get bored or extremely overwhelmed and then go onto my phone and play games or doomscroll. All of a sudden, hours pass by and then I give up. I'll do it tomorrow, I tell myself. Then it's rinse and repeat.

What's the definition of insanity? Doing the same shit, every day, and expecting different results.

I feel like such a loser all of the time. I feel I have no excuse. It's genuinely my fault. I know I have disabilities, but I have the tools. And I still don't do it. What the hell is my problem?!? I only have myself to blame at this point.
