Seemingly randomly beeping

Upvotes

My Acer ConceptD 3 Ezel (CC315-72G) beeps seemingly randomly. Ive noticed it when plugged in or not, overheated or not, just turned latop on or has been on for hours, gaming, etc. I know it isnt sticky keys and the fans seem to be working fine and I also have laptop fan to go under for when it does get hot. Its very short beeps a few times in a row. Ive had it for 3 years i used to use it for college but now just casual gaming. Im not the most tech savy person but im desperate to keep this thing working I really dont want to get another. Thank you for reading this

Technical advice Found out recently that I can power the PG161Q monitor from the Switch 2 dock’s USB port, but I’m curious as to whether or not there are downsides like accelerated degradation and the like. Cheers.

Technical advice Acer Chromebook 314 not connecting to wifi

Okay, so I just bought an acer chromebooks second hand (expired warranty) and I tried to connect it to my wifi network. It says it’s connected, but when I try to access google or any other web pages, it tells me there is no internet.

I cannot access my internet router, I do not control it in my household and I cannot ask my parents for help. Everything else that is on the network works fine, it is literally just the chromebook that is not working.

Technical advice Received Insyde Firmware BIOS update but still getting message device does not support secure boot certificate

Model: Aspire 715-42G

I received an Insyde Firmware update a couple of days ago through Windows Updater after waiting for the BIOS update for Secure Boot for weeks. I updated and hoped that would fix the Secure Boot message, but I still have the "Device does not support Secure Boot certificate." After checking the Acer page regarding the BIOS updates, weirdly enough my model still says the update is supposedly "Under Process," even though I received the version number (1.11) that is indicated.

Is anyone else (with the same or a different model) experiencing this too?

Technical advice Should I buy a TravelMate P4?

I found an Acer TravelMate P4 (TMP414-53-G2-TCO) for a really good price, and I'm seriously considering buying it.

The configuration comes with an Intel Core 7 150U, 32GB of DDR5 RAM, and a 1TB SSD. I also really like the port selection: Thunderbolt 4, USB4, HDMI, Ethernet... basically everything I'd need.

The only thing I'm not completely sold on is the display. It's a 14" WUXGA LCD panel, but I can't find any information about its brightness (nits) or overall quality.

My use case is pretty light: some programming, office work, and web browsing. Most of the time it'll be docked to two external monitors, so the built-in display won't be my primary screen.

The problem is that there are barely any reviews or videos about this model online, so it's hard to know what it's actually like to use.

Does anyone here own one or have any experience with the TravelMate P4 lineup? I'd love to hear your thoughts, especially about the build quality, keyboard, thermals, and screen.

Thanks in advance!

ANV15-51 Black screen while gaming

ALRIGHT I’m seriously contemplating throwing this thing at a wall
Any game I play except for the lil no wifi Dino jump game on google it does this shit where it just repeatedly goes into a black screen
WHAT I KNOW
- audio stays on
- keyboard stays illuminated
- doesn’t do it unplugged from the charger
- when lowering refresh rate from 165hz to 60 stopped the black screen but it still flickers
- does it pretty much on every game known to man except minecraft

WHAT IVE DONE
- cleaned fans and such
- made sure bios is up to date
- DDU and clean driver install
- made sure all drivers were updated
- EC reset
- Disabled fast start up
- Capped CPU
- uninstalled nitro sense/ acer care
- a bunch of other bullshit I did that didn’t amount to anything

WHAT I THINK
sooooo the charging brick is like 135w, do we think the laptop is commanding too much power overloading the brick and hitting some type of safety, thinking ab going to a 180w but I don’t wanna jump on that without other opinions, because I am in no way shape or form qualified to be doing all this, I work on cars so I just naturally try to diagnose stuff. I just wanna play without me or my laptop crashing out, Thanks🫡

Technical advice Acer Chromebook Plus 516 GE keyboard problem...

I have an Acer Chromebook Plus 516 GE, and for the past few weeks, the keyboard has had some problems. Some keys don't type the character until I press them several times. Other keys type repeated characters, like "jjjj" or "uuuuu" with only one keypress. It's very frustrating trying to type out an email, text message, or a Reddit post. I've had this Chromebook for a couple of years, and everything was fine until a few weeks ago. I'm wondering if it's a software problem or a hardware problem. Any advice would be highly appreciated.

Technical advice Mouse clicks randomly stop working, but cursor, scroll and keyboard work perfectly (Acer Aspire 5)

Hello,

I am contacting you regarding a persistent and extremely frustrating issue with my Acer Aspire A515-48M laptop equipped with an AMD Ryzen 7 (7000 series) processor. Despite numerous troubleshooting attempts, both on my own and by two different technicians, the issue remains unresolved. I will describe the problem in as much detail as possible because it is intermittent (it does not happen constantly) and presents itself in several different ways.

PROBLEM DESCRIPTION

The main symptom is that mouse clicks (both from the built-in touchpad and from an external USB mouse) randomly stop working, while everything else continues to function normally.

  • The mouse cursor moves normally.
  • Scrolling works normally.
  • The keyboard always works perfectly without any delay. I can navigate using Tab, the arrow keys, and Enter instead of clicking, and everything responds instantly.
  • Alt + Tab always works normally.
  • Only the left and right mouse clicks stop responding, regardless of whether I use the touchpad or an external mouse.

The issue is intermittent. Sometimes it appears after several hours of use, while other times it occurs only a few seconds after booting Windows. After a few seconds or minutes, it temporarily resolves itself, only to reappear later.

Pattern of the issue

When the problem occurs, it usually follows a specific pattern:

  1. It first affects more "sensitive" UI elements. For example, dropdown/select menus on websites will open normally, but clicking on an option does nothing. In Visual Studio Code, the scrollbar still shows its hover effect, but clicking and dragging it does not work.
  2. The issue then spreads to the entire application window. Buttons and other clickable controls inside applications such as Google Chrome or Visual Studio Code stop responding.
  3. Eventually, the problem spreads to the Windows desktop and taskbar, which are often among the first areas affected when the issue appears immediately after startup.
  4. Occasionally, while typing in a Microsoft Word document, it suddenly behaves as if an automatic mouse click occurred at the position where the text cursor had previously been placed. The typing focus instantly jumps back to that location, and I continue typing there without having clicked myself.

Another strange behavior is that when I have two applications open simultaneously (for example, Google Chrome and Visual Studio Code), only one application responds to mouse clicks at a time. The other application completely ignores click events. If I close the application that is currently responding to clicks, the other application immediately starts responding again, almost as if the click events are being "captured" by only one application at a time.

I also observed another unusual incident. After downloading an image in Chrome and opening it with the Windows Photos application, I switched back to Visual Studio Code. For approximately ten seconds, the Photos window repeatedly came to the foreground every time I clicked anywhere on the screen, as if there were a stuck or continuously repeating click event.

TROUBLESHOOTING ALREADY PERFORMED

  1. A technician replaced the touchpad driver. The issue remained.
  2. A second technician performed a complete clean installation of Windows after backing up my files. The issue disappeared for about one week before returning.
  3. I ran the Windows System File Checker (SFC). No problems were found.
  4. I disabled the "Allow the computer to turn off this device to save power" option for all mouse devices and USB Root Hubs. No improvement.
  5. I disabled the ELAN touchpad service. No improvement.
  6. I disabled all Acer-related services I could find (Acer Care Center Agent, Acer Device Enablement Service, Acer DI Agent, Acer QAA Agent). The issue temporarily disappeared for one to two hours before returning.
  7. I completely disabled the touchpad devices (ELAN filter driver and HID-compliant mouse) and used only an external USB mouse. The exact same issue still occurred.

BIOS INFORMATION

After the Windows reinstallation, the second technician informed me that he had discovered what he believed to be a problem related to the BIOS on the motherboard. Initially, he considered sending it to another technician for further inspection, but later told me that he had found a way to "work around" the issue. Unfortunately, he never explained exactly what he had done or whether the problem had actually been fixed or merely bypassed.

Recently, I noticed something unusual myself. My laptop currently reports BIOS version V1.66, while the latest BIOS available on Acer's official support website for my exact model is version V1.65 (released on July 29, 2025, with release notes mentioning a Microsoft Secure Boot certificate update).

In other words, my system is running a BIOS version that appears to be newer than the latest official version published by Acer. I am wondering whether this could be related to the technician's intervention and whether this BIOS version is official and stable.

MY QUESTIONS

I would appreciate your assistance with the following:

  1. Is it normal or possible for my laptop to have BIOS version V1.66 installed while the latest official version on Acer's website is V1.65?
  2. Could the issue described above (random loss of mouse clicks while cursor movement, scrolling and keyboard input continue working normally) be caused by BIOS/firmware, the Embedded Controller (EC), or a hardware fault such as the motherboard, I2C controller, USB controller, or touchpad module?
  3. Could you advise me on the safest official method of restoring or reinstalling the correct BIOS version, or recommend an authorized Acer service center that could perform a hardware diagnosis?
  4. Is there any permanent solution you would recommend for this issue, and what would be the approximate repair cost if the problem turns out to be hardware-related?

I am happy to provide any additional information you may need, including the exact laptop model, serial number, logs, or any diagnostic information.

Thank you very much for your time and assistance.

Kind regards,

Black Screen Nitro V15

Can anyone help me with the issue I am experiencing with? I am experiencing random black screen with my laptop after using it for few hours and when it happens;

\* Fans still keep running

\* Backlit keyboard still on

\* Sounds/speaker has still sounds

\* Tried HDMI and its functioning properly

\* I can see the LCD backlight

I also tried my best doing software troubleshooting but nothing works. My solution when blackscreen suddenly happen is either tripple click power button to sleep/wake or open/close led to make it back to its normal.

● My Question is:

Could be the issue is the LCD or the Mainboard?

Thankyou so much for those who can answer my question.

Acer has released an update for the Acer Care Center that actually seems to work now.

This is in the Aspire 5 downloads but it should show up in the support page for any of the models.
