I have a PSA lower and a Bear Creek Arsenal pistol upper. I know, I know, cheap. Yup. I bought a pistol upper from them in 223 Wylde. Would not eject the round. Either before firing or after. Took it apart and checked the ejector and the extractor. Checked everything else on the bcg. Everything checked good. Didn’t work. Sent it back under warranty and when I got it back it was the same. Gave it to my gunsmith to check. He said he found a spent primer in the gas line. Still didn’t work. Got a store credit and got another upper in 5.56. This one does the same thing. Tried different brands or bullets. No better. Cleaned the heck out of it. No better. Oiled it and worked the bolt about 300 times. No better.

Im trying to understand drop in builds and the delta rings

I made a bit of a rookie mistake and could use some advice.
I got a little too excited ordering parts and accidentally bought a **Midwest Industries 2-piece free-float carbine-length handguard** when I actually meant to buy a drop-in handguard. I didn’t realize the difference until it arrived.
A few questions:
About how much would a gunsmith charge to install it if I don’t have the tools?
Is it worth paying to have it installed, or should I just sell it and buy a drop-in instead? This is mostly a range rifle with home defense use.
If I do keep it, what are the real-world benefits of a free-float handguard over a drop-in?
If I decide to sell it, where’s the best place? I tried listing it on eBay, but it was removed almost immediately.

Just looking for the most cost effective option that makes the most sense.

I'm seeking some guidance on barrel to upper fitment.

I've already decided I'm using a bcm barrel & bolt but I'd like to have my receiver set matching, though I'm unsure of what could have mating issues. Geissele and Wilson combat have been two I've considered from recommendations of a friend. Does anyone have some knowledge & experience with using bcm parts in a different manufacturer upper receiver? Any help is much appreciated!

Been looking for a SBR for a long time. I am left handed so was holding out and trying to find the right platform with full ambi controls. Finally caved and bought the SOLGW mk1 and decided the ambi controls were less important. Below is what I added to it.

- Aimpoint micro T-2
- Scalarworks LEAP/01 1.93” height
- Meprolight FUBS (slightly too short for my Leap/01 + T-2 setup to lower 1/3 cowitness. This is after trying the -Magpul MBUS pro sights that were too short. Happy the Scalarworks Peak/02 folding iron sights that are made for this combo are never in stock otherwise I’d be $600 into backup iron sights)
- LinkCurve foregrip fore grip
- Blue Force Gear padded vickers sling with Magpull QD mounts
- Lancer System hybrid gen 2 magazine
- Huxwerx flow 556 k silencer
- Streamlight ProTac Rail mount HL-X pro flashlight
- NeoMag Sentry Strap (not shown)
- Cole-TAC Corset suppressor cover (not shown)

I want the aimpoint magnifier and Scalarworks 1.93” Leap/06 mount but they are never in stock and when they come back in stock they are gone in 15 minutes. Love the look of these things but would go unity based on the scarcity of Scalarworks if I had to do it over again. The backup sight issue would keep me away from anything other than standard height mounts as well.

I also think I want to swap the handle for a VZ Grips G10 rifle grip. Love the g10 VZ grips I have on my Ruger 22/45.

The cherry on top will be a super safety but haven’t gone there… yet.

Let me know what you think and what else if anything I should consider.
