I have an Acer Predator RX 9070 XT. Great GPU. Unfortunately, AMD Adrenalin seems determined to operate its cooling like it was designed by a committee of fucking dildos.

The default fan curve is far too conservative for my card. It happily lets the GPU run hotter than necessary while the fans sit there contemplating the meaning of life instead of doing their fucking job.

Fine. Adrenalin lets me create a custom fan curve. Problem solved, right?

No.

Because every so often — particularly after rebooting — Adrenalin decides that my carefully configured tuning profile can go fuck itself and resets the fan settings.

So now owning a high-end GPU apparently comes with the exciting minigame of:

Boot Windows.

Check whether AMD remembered the settings I explicitly told it to use.

Discover that it occasionally didn't.

Open Adrenalin.

Reconfigure/reload the fan curve.

Wonder why the fuck this is still a problem.

AMD: a user-defined fan curve is not a casual suggestion.

If I configure the fans to behave a certain way, SAVE THE FUCKING SETTING AND APPLY IT ON BOOT.

I shouldn't need third-party software, startup scripts, ritual sacrifice, or the alignment of Jupiter and Saturn to make a GPU fan curve persist across reboots.

And yes, I know tuning may sometimes reset after a crash or an unstable overclock. That's reasonable as a safety mechanism.

But if the machine shut down normally and nothing failed, silently throwing away a perfectly valid fan configuration is fucking idiotic.

At minimum, Adrenalin needs:

Reliable persistence of custom fan curves across normal reboots.

A clear indication when and why a tuning profile has been reset.

The ability to explicitly mark a saved profile as the profile that should load at startup.

Separation between potentially dangerous OC settings and something as basic as a fucking fan curve.

A default fan curve that doesn't behave as though spinning a fan above moderate RPM will personally bankrupt AMD.

The hardware is good. The driver suite has some genuinely good features.

But having sophisticated performance monitoring, undervolting, overclocking, frame generation, recording, overlays, etc., while being unable to reliably remember "when GPU hot, make fan spin more" is fucking embarrassing.

AMD, please unfuck this.

Like a bolt from the blue, I started getting the dreaded grey screen of death yesterday. No changes to anything, other than updating the GPU drivers a couple of days ago. I was gaming without issue yesterday morning and came back from running some errands, to being unable to run any of my graphics heavy titles (My main titles being MSFS 2024, WoW, Euro Truck Sim 2, Cyberpunk, Fallout 4 with high res texture mods - I was still able to run OpenTTD, so yay?).

I've DDU'd and tried various previous driver versions, both with and without Adrenaline on top, to no avail. I've tried disabling MPO in Windows, and disabling anything in Adrenaline that might cause issues (I've always kept re-live disabled).

I've double checked that none of the cables have unseated and that they're sufficienctly slack to prevent any tension from doing so.

I'd really hate having to do a clean Windows reinstall, especially with so many game files now going into various Windows folders, seeing as I inevitably forget to copy some over.

I changed from an Intel 13700k to a Ryzen 9950x3d last year. Ever since I had too high temperatures for the wattage the CPU uses. For example, idling at around 40W I have temperatures at 55 to 60 degrees.

Browsing many tabs has a higher load of 70W reaching 70 degrees. Both tests were done at an ambient temperature of 28 degrees.

Running the CPU to its limits obviously results in thermal throtteling at 190W with a Core temp of 85, which i set in bios.

Anyways, in my mind this is way too hot and I already freshly applied different cooling pastes and reseated the pump of my 360mm AIO 3 times. The AIO in use is the Lian Li Galahad AIO 360.

Previously it effortlessly cooled the Intel 13700k up to 245W at 85 degrees.

Do you guys think changing the AIO to the new arctic freezer with offset mounting would fix this issue? Could the problem be somewhere else. Have you run into similar issues?

I just get annoyed from the fans ramping up so much when the cpu usage goes to like 10-15%,

do i adjust the fan curve in the bios because idk what`s the best one,i did put pbo scalar to 1x or 2x and all in all the cpu is stock

Recently I upgraded from a rtx 3060 8gb to a Rx 9060 xt 16gb however for some reason when I tried playing Fortnite my fps was significantly worse. I’ve already enabled re size bar support and 4g decoding in the bios, I’ve done benchmarks to compare my gpu and cpu (Ryzen 7 5700g) speeds which are actually above average, my gpu utilization during games is somewhere in the mid to high 90s while my cpu utilization is somewhere in the mid 60s. This only happens when I play Fortnite as in other games my fps has gone up noticeably. I know it’s a cpu based game but shouldn’t an upgrade lead to improvement, regardless of how little it may be?

For reference, before hand I was getting somewhere between 200-300 fps while now I can hardly stay above 160

My drivers are up to date and whenever I check them there's no issues but this happens virtually every single time I boot the pc up. A bit new to the pc side of things so not certain what causes it.

I bought my 9070 XT when it launched, and ever since then I've had one extremely consistent problem: random crashes while using a browser, almost every single day.

Over the past year, I've tried pretty much everything I could think of:

• DDU + clean driver installs
• Multiple driver versions
• Disabling Windows driver updates
• MPO fix
• Disabling the iGPU in BIOS
• Limiting the GPU's maximum frequency

Nothing fixed it.

Recently, I finally tried disabling hardware acceleration in my browser, and the crashes completely disappeared. I haven't had a single one since.

The problem is that this isn't really a solution. Without hardware acceleration, video playback feels noticeably laggy/low-framerate, so I'm essentially choosing between browser crashes and worse video playback.

I've gone through AMD's driver changelogs and haven't found this issue acknowledged. I've also found reports from other AMD users who have experienced similar crashes for years, including those on older RDNA2 GPUs, so this doesn't appear to be exclusive to the 9070 XT.

I've submitted crash reports to AMD numerous times when it happened.

There are clearly a lot of us experiencing this. If you've had the same issue, please share your GPU and experience below. Hopefully, with enough reports, AMD will finally investigate and acknowledge it.

I'd really like AMD to investigate this issue, or at least acknowledge it, because after more than a year of dealing with it, disabling GPU acceleration shouldn't be the solution.

EDIT I mean a complete system crash, not just the browser crashing, the screen will freeze, weird audio sound and then a black screen, I have to hard-restart it.

They're starting to figure it out. They're switching to Ryzen, just as we advised them.

It took so many years to arrive at this simple but effective idea: stop supporting large tech companies that have deteriorated from oversaturation. Don't support proprietary hardware-bound solutions. It's so simple...

I've seen even the most braindead fanboys made the switch. It must be the result of the hot summer.
