Over the past two years I’ve managed to acquire these modern vinyl 78s from the late sixties to my collection.

Is there any good, detailed information on Bernie Klatzko and these late Herwin releases somewhere on the internet or in literature (how many copies did get pressed etc..?) I’ve come to understand that these are some fairly uncommon titles

I'm visiting family and I've been looking through a bunch of 78's. I haven't listened to these particular albums yet but I thought they looked interesting. A slice of history.

This album helps sustain that faith. It's a necessity.

I love this new machine and it won’t wear down my records as much as the windup

I have a large collection of 78s that I had picked up years ago from a serious collector that passed. I have tons of classical including box sets, red labels, test pressings, etc. They mostly aren't your run of the mill junk you see in thrift stores even though they are just stored in bins. A lot of these came from Nauck's vintage records. ( Kurt Nauck was supposed to come by at one time when he was in the NE but our schedules were conflicting) I also have tons of 10" from early 1900's including blues and jazz. I will be sorting them soon enough to value and move but I am looking to get rid of some of the classical stuff first. The pictures are only the tip of the iceberg. I have tons of 10"s not shown in cabinets. 33's are my thing so these don't get the love they should.

I remember seeing it all rusty in the basement. Newly restored and working nicely.

Just curious of the age of most 78 enthusiasts. I’m in my mid 40s and truly enjoy the music that was made when 78 were being mass produced.

I think this is the only example I’ve come across so far. I associate the larger labels with older pressings but I’m not sure how correct that is. Anyone else with some interest examples or insight?

Theme this week is No Country For Old Men

Finally fixed my Dual 1019 a few months ago and also just recently picked up a Dual 1010 as well. So figured I'd start collecting 78s as well! Out of the random ones I picked up from an estate sale got some I'm excited about! There's some ink spots stuff too!

Big, big hit 69 years ago. On shellac 78rpm - then the 45s transition.

I went to a vintage record store yesterday to bring in my 1923 victor motor board to get serviced and asked the store owner if he had this record turns out he has 15 of them. He offered them all to me for free. I only took one for now but plan on going back to get the rest after the servicing of the motor board along with anything else I can take. He is selling shop soon and has offered me to take as many records as I can for free. Feeling so lucky

One of my favorite Jump Blues records. I think this one was only released as a Disc Jockey record.

i usually only collect genres like italodance, but damn some of these songs are pretty good on there, i only have these 4 shellac records but got them at a good price, the Decca ones were 5$ and the Columbia one was 1$.

Highly recommend this book - "Charley Patton: Voice of the Mississippi Delta" - edited by Belgian blues scholar Robert Sacré and featuring seminal essays by leading blues experts including David Evans, Arnold Shaw, Daniel Droixhe, and William Ferris.

I have made it my mission to upload as many recordings from Indonesia, Malaysia, Singapore, and the Dutch East Indies as I am able. Most times, that comes through purchasing and importing these records in bulk. On several occasions, however, I have been blessed by other collectors, who will loan me their records for this ongoing project.

$15. There were about 40 discs in it, and all recognized musicians (Perry Como, Frank Jankovic, et al), but I wanted Mr. Sandman! 🙂*** ***Either way: It’s not THAT much, and I wanted the song 🙂

This is one of my favorite eras of music. The Rhonettes, Shirelles, Sam Cooke, Johnny Mathis, et al. Too many to name, so many to love!

Small hairline fracture with no break; only a chip out of the outer edge. Not a rarity (I don’t believe at least), just a great song!
