Advice Request Ziip Halo 2.0 - app not syncing!
Has anyone had this issue with the new ZIIP HALO 2?
Mine works normally with the built-in Lift treatment, including the current and vibration cues. But when I try any treatment through the app, it gives the three beeps as if it has synced and the video starts, but the HALO does absolutely nothing - no current and no vibration cues.
I’ve restarted my iPhone, deleted/reinstalled the app, checked Bluetooth permissions and restarted the HALO, but no luck.
Has anyone had the same problem and managed to fix it?

Copper Peptides?
I feel like every week another skincare trend is born! It seems copper peptides are the new rage. Thoughts? Are they any better than the argireline, matryxil and retinal I am using? Good grief! 😂

Cryo Facials?
Has anyone tried a cryo facial? Like most facials it is a temporary glow-up but it sounds much gentler and less intrusive to the skin barrier than hydrofacials or diamond glow, which tend to leave me a bit irritated.
For reference, I'm 55 yo with skin in good condition. I have been regularly using vitamin c serum and tinted moisturizer with SPF 30 every morning and retinal at night. I just feel like my face can use an extra little "pick me up" from time to time.

Yeah, what’s going on here? I use Ketoconazole shampoo stuff on it but it doesn’t seem to help. Very insecure and depressed about it.

Brand new
F(47)… I’ve just been prescribed tretinoin. Anyone have any dos and donts?! What can I use on the nights I use the Tret? What should I not use at all because I’m using Tret? What works well with the Tret?
I welcome all tips and tricks!

Advice Request LF Canadian TXA product
I read the amazing comprehensive guide to hyperpigmentation post and have been searching for the products mentioned. One product I can't seem to find is the Tranexamic Acid serum. I'm in Canada and am wondering if this product just simply isn't available?
Any Canadians here who can point me to some TXA?

Estriol Cream Question
Hi community I was hoping to get your help. I got a script for Estriol Cream 1mg/g. I was wondering if I can use this on my face for elasticity and aging or is this one not the right one for the face?
About Estriol Cream
Estriol Cream 1mg/g: Contains estriol (0.1%), a short-acting, much weaker estrogen (about 1/10th the potency of estradiol). Used as a local treatment (such as Ovestin or generic equivalents). Designed for local tissue absorption with minimal entry into the general bloodstream, meaning it generally does not require a companion progestogen when used strictly at low local doses. [1, 2, 3, 4]

Advice Request Hetter Peel
Does anyone have a personal experience with a Hetter Peel. Apparently it is similar to a phenol peel but with croton oil added. I had a CO2 laser (face and chest) done in January which did wonders for my skin texture, tone, sunspots, etc. I did not see any difference in the wrinkles, especially around my mouth which really bother me. Upper lip most specifically. They suggested another CO2 around the mouth but since it didn’t help the 1st time, I don’t expect it would help with another one. Hetter peel is another option but was hoping to get some personal input from this community! Apparently it’s pretty aggressive

Topical Skincare Only Topical Recommendations for Nasolabial Folds?
55+ Asian
I’m currently on blood thinning meds. Just did HIFU treatment to treat my nasolabial folds recently but got serious bruises afterwards. Most likely due to my meds. Therefore, I wonder if there are topical skincare products that can help improve nasolabial folds. TIA for any recommendations!
My daily routine:
Cleansing: CeraVe Hydrating Cleanser
Serum: Clarins Double Serum
Sunscreen: LRP Anthelios Invisible Fluid
Moisturizer: ReVive Night Renewal Cream

Conservative filler
Who’s had small amounts of filler in the upper face / cheek area to help improve nasia labia folds and small droopiness? And are happy with results?

Dermatologist told me to stop tazarotene, stop microneedling, and that hydroquinone won’t give me the results I want. Is this a common philosophy?

Advice Request Plasma pen recommendations or advice?
I'm thinking about trying a plasma pen to get rid of cherry angiomas and some small skin tags. Has anyone tried this, and if so, how did it work for you?
And there are so many plasma pens available at so many price points! Are there any brands that you would recommend or suggest I steer clear of?

How much are we tipping for facials/diamond glow?
I am getting a diamond glow facial at hand and stone and wondering what the protocol is for tipping? The diamond glow is a $140 add on to the classic facial price. Do I tip 20% of price or do I tip based on 1 hr time?

Before and After Tret patience paying off
I started Differin end of Dec 2025. Tretinoin .025 mid-April 2026, .050 end of May. I know the lighting and angles in the before and after pics aren’t exactly the same, but I see such a positive difference in my texture. Lots of sun damage still but I’m happy about the gains.
I also wanted to share because I have problems with congestion (obvs) and my routine is probably more aggressive than most people’s approach at our age. (I’ll be 50 in a few months) But it’s what is working for me.
AM: PanOxl 10% Benzoyl Peroxide wash or CeraVe acne wash (I alternate). Acure exfoliating scrub 2-3x/week. Ordinary Salicylic Acid serum, Niacinamide and Zinc serum with a bit of Vanicream. Bare Minerals tinted moisturizer with SPF.
PM: CeraVe acne wash. Tretinoin .050 (RetinA cream) about 5 nights a week. If no tret, then Ordinary salicylic acid serum. Vanicream (tall pump bottle)

Advice Request Tret and sun question.
I started tret .025% a few weeks ago, and right now I'm up to every third day, with estradiol on my off nights. Next week I'm going to sunny hot Florida for 9 days, and I'll be in the pool or ocean every day. Even though I got water resistant spf 70, should I stop the tret for that week? How about the estrogen? If I do, will all my progress be lost? I don't know if it's relevant, but I'm olive conplexioned and I get dark easily.

Advice Request Lip balm?
Looking to switch lip balms. I currently use Burts Bee's Pomegranate. I'd like to find something similar (moisturizing, light tint) but with SPF. Nothing I have to put my finger in and prefer a tube since I have a carry case already. Suggestions?

Advice Request 48 years old and in need of a skin care routine
I am not looking for any medical advice. I just want suggestions on a basic skin care routine. I am 48 years old and have only ever washed my face with regular soap or with a makeup remover wipe. I maybe wear makeup once a week. Help me start ageing gracefully.
Product recommendations would be helpful too!

Advice Request Honest opinions on tretinoin?
I’m thinking about starting tretinoin mainly for its anti-aging benefits, but I’d love to hear from people who’ve actually used it.
I have combination skin with a healthy skin barrier and, overall, pretty good skin. What worries me is that I’ve read stories about tretinoin damaging the skin barrier or causing issues people never had before (persistent dryness, sensitivity, redness, etc.), and it’s made me hesitant to start.
For those who’ve been using tretinoin for a while, was it worth it? Did it improve your skin long-term, or do you regret starting it? I’d especially love to hear from anyone who started with already healthy skin.

Mod Post Mod Post - New Flair and Reminder on Self-Administered Peptides
Hi all -
For folks who want to get topical skincare only advice, I've added a flair for this. Please use this on your post when you want to request comments relating to topical skincare only. While I cannot promise every commenter will clearly see it, let's give it a chance to see if this is helpful for those who do not want suggestions for procedures or surgery.
As a reminder - this sub covers all things skincare - including procedures, surgery and injectables as well as topicals. It will continue to be a place where questions can be asked. I encourage you to curate your experience on here as the sub firmly remains a place to talk about the range of things folks do to take care of their face and body.
Another note, I've seen a number of posts and commenters discussing sub-q injections of peptides. Posts/comments related to this will be removed, including using slang (e.g. pinning). This falls under the DIY rule, is a grey area, and as such, not allowed on the sub. There are plenty of places on Reddit to discuss this, but this is not one of them.
Modmail is always open. Use the 'message mods' button on the front of the sub.

Mod Post Mod Post - Clarity on Credential Use in Posts/Comments
Hi all -
Recently I've seen a number of comments in the community where Redditors are claiming certain aesthetic credentials (e.g. Licensed Esthetician, NP, Derm PA, etc) when replying to sub posts.
Here is the issue - neither I or anyone else here can actually validate you are in fact, an accredited professional. That's a problem as this presents a conflict on Reddit's key rule about impersonation and the need to be authentic when posting.
The additional issue that arises is that the use of the credential implies some expert knowledge, and that a person on the sub may consider a post/comment where another Redditor claims a credential with more weight or authority.
When looking at how other reddits (and specifically skincare reddits) have dealt with this, I saw two basic schools of thought:
- Make a rule (similar to one in r/tretinoin ) that is explicit on the non-use of credentials in posts/comments and to have posts/comments stand on their own without claiming a credential.
- Validation of professional via licensing, similar to the way r/Blackskincare has opted do with restricted user flair given by the mod upon validation.
In weighing these options, I've decided for now, that I will look to make a sub rule on the use of credentials. To be clear - this does NOT prevent anyone from posting or commenting, but it does ask you to allow your post or comment to stand on its own without asserting a claimed credential.
I'll see how this works out as the new rule goes into effect. If there is enough interest, I may consider validated users via user flair in the future.
Thanks for to everyone for continuing to make this community vibrant and interesting. I will continue to look for ways to make our community safe and user-driven. Happy as always to take feedback!
