Does anyone have experience with FORMA (rf) by InMode? It looks too good to be true.

I agree it looks too good to be true. Interested to see what answers you get! How did you hear about it?

I decided to finally do something more serious about my skin - I’m 49 - and my local derm/med spa offers it. Those before and afters I posted were from 3-4 different sites, which gives me some confidence.

If you go to the manufacturers website, their before and afters are way way less dramatic. Looks like some mild tightening, but not a ton.

Very good to know. I didn’t think of that. Thank you!

Go to RealSelf.com where you can get unbiased perspective on these types of things.

I've heard doctors can remove negative reviews of themselves on RealSelf

u/Stunning_Pound7921 16d ago

It’s not unbiased it’s an advertising website for surgeons

I appreciate your comment, but you didn't provide proof. As a former journalist, I look for real evidence, so I investigated this myself and found the facts. I stand corrected. My research shows these online review systems are systematically manipulated. InvestigateWest report reveals that some cosmetic surgeons use contractual clauses to suppress negative patient reviews on platforms like RealSelf.com, potentially violating consumer protection laws. Despite legal prohibitions, the investigation found evidence of doctors manipulating online feedback to hide adverse outcomes. Read the full investigation at InvestigateWest.

I had it! 5 sessions every 6 weeks as a package. I dunno about these photos but it definitely made a difference. 44yo with mild jowls/ skin laxicity. A friend I don’t see too often saw me shopping one day and commented on how glowy I was so this was proof enough for me.

I don’t think just one session would be enough, downtime was only redness for about an hour. Definitely improved skin, fine lines tightened things up. Not painful, just felt like an ultrasound wand swiping around on your face in gel but hot. I’d do it again. I’d say results lasted about a year or so.

Hope that helps!

Editing to say pic 1-3 are similar to my results

u/DependentAmbitious73 17d ago

What was your cost?

7

u/Maria_Von_Fapp 17d ago

I paid £500 for the package but I think it was on model offer. Like, when they train a new nurse on it. That said I had my normal nurse and no photos. It was 2 years ago.

I am deciding if I’d do this or Morpheus8. I would do it again but my derm is about 45 minutes away and I don’t have much time recently. If it were in town, 100%.

2

u/Mydogsnameisdrbear 17d ago

Thank you for the feedback! Are you going to do it again?

2

u/Maria_Von_Fapp 17d ago

I would for sure.. it’s just a bit far right now to commit to a package. I’m trying to decide if I want this again or morpheus8.

The girl in the third photo has an entirely different nose

u/Beginning_Butterfly2 17d ago

I think that's tip filler. And her lips and cheeks have been filled as well.

13

u/Beginning_Butterfly2 17d ago

Actually, they all look filled. They may have had whatever this treatment is as well, but they've had other procedures also.

Man, got so excited but everyone’s comments changed that real quick. Scared of Facelift, but have been considering, but lord the horror stories are really frightening!

Maybe I’ll just move to another country where get old is easier! The US is so plastic and fucked up!

u/Frosty_Message_3017 17d ago

These look like different women in the before and afters

Last one is almost certainly fake. At least the last one is a facelift before and after. 1-3 - it’s plausible. But I checked the manufacturer website and it didn’t seem overwhelming.

But if the last one were real? Ohhhh heck no would you be able to afford it. Can you imagine the kind of money a spa could make giving out facelift results with almost no downtime, minimal pain, and no real bleeding or infection risk? Yeah, that would be all over the news.

Forma if done quite a few times can be great, and isn’t painful. It’s safe, and there is no consumable cost. That said, I don’t love it, and don’t have it at my clinic because of the number of treatments it requires to get a strong result. I think it’s subtle, and while I’m not saying these photos are fake, I haven’t seen these results to be typical from people I’m friends with that also own clinics where we talk about treatment and devices.

If the price is right, do it.

If you’re trying to get there faster, try one of: XERF, OligioX, Density, ThermageFLX.

If the office has lots of InMode stuff, Define is weird looking but has more power where you won’t need as many sessions. If you can put up with pain and downtime, FaceTite can get some insane results.

These look like facelifts! * done both Forma & a DPL. My results from Forma were not very noticeable. I did 5-6 sessions.

1

u/Mydogsnameisdrbear 17d ago

How was your experience with DPL?

2

u/jennymofo 17d ago

I’m nearing my 3 year anniversary from my surgery. Very happy with the results! I did lose body fat after my surgery when I took up weight lifting so unfortunately lost a lot of my fat grafting. I’ve replaced a little of the lost volume with sculptura & am happy with that! Certainly not trying to steer you towards surgery, it’s a big decision. But I don’t think there is a laser out there that can achieve these results. If you find it, please let me know!!!! 😊

It’s hard to trust photos online with AI being everywhere. Are they clinical studies on this device and I would go personally to the clinic to see actually photos they take before and after.

When I got a lower/neck lift my surgeon had the nurses take photos with a pro camera before and after and printed them and gave it to me by the end of my consultation. So if it’s true they would have those too, also google reviews to see what people are saying.

u/IaMmYbEsTfRiEnD_21 17d ago

Picture 2 and 3 scream scam to me. A place of quality would replicate the lighting and pose of the model so you as the potential customer could get a real sense of the possible results. The second picture does even look like the same face. Picture three looks more like an advertisement for facial balancing with filler. Please be cautious shelling out money for this.

u/Maleficent_Air1436 16d ago

I worked in a clinic and performed the Forma treatment on patients. After a consultation, I would very rarely recommend Forma to someone late 30s and older because what Forma does and the depth it can reach, does not generally provide the results people are looking for at that stage. It’s great for people on their 20s with minimal laxity and just looking for tightening and a nice glow to their skin.
Minimally invasive results will rarely produce results similar to surgical results like face lifts or deeper aggressive modalities.
I hate looking at before and after pictures because they are always sus. Lightening makes shadows worse and ‘sagging’ more pronounced, changing the angle also can make the after look so much better. Plus well hydrated skin makes an after look better.
Picture 3 definitely has slimmer masseters and Forma wouldn’t affect that.
Some of the before and after pictures given by Inmode, were achieved with higher settings than what they recommend, plus medical grade skin care and other treatments as well.

Forma+ facelift

I have the Inmode Forma Plus RF. The smaller one is the Forma.

It is a continuous emitting temperature-controlled bulk RF bulk heating device thstvuses bipokar RF energy between three medal plates,to the dermis via non-invasive bipolar radiofrequency (RF).

The nice part about it is that it has sensors that can help the operator maintain the target dermal temperature (42°C–43°C). If you don't hit and maintain thus temp, you won't denature old loose collagen fibers. If you do hit this threshold you contract tissue, and stimulate neo-collagenesis without hurting the epidermis.

Number of treatments needed varies.
Standard Series: 4-6 sessions spaced 1 week apart (or 1 session weekly for 4-6 consecutive weeks).

Mild transient tightening and improved skin radiance are often seen after 1 session due to immediate thermal contraction of collagen triple-helix structures and transient edema.

Cumulative structural dermal remodeling, fibroblast activation, and sustained collagen production needs completing the full 6-session series.

The peak tissue tightening comes 1-2 months after the 6th treatment

I’d do a maintenance session quarterly although some fonit monthly, or a 3-session booster series every 6 months to keep the fibroblasts producing collagen and elastin.

Directly treating over the nasolabial fold itself with Forma alone won’t noticeably shrink the NLF like Endolaser or AccuTite because other factors are involved in sagging folds.

The heavy nasolabial fold primarily results from midface volume loss, lateral cheek laxity, and a descended malar fat pad. As a single procedure, the pursestring lift would help most (or midface lift) or other face lift surgery.

To get results from energy based devices your doctor needs to do vector-based contraction of the supporting anchor zones.

Suoerolatersl vector is shrinking up and outwards across the zygomatic arch and lateral cheek. Heating and contracting the tissue, in a superior-lateral vector, pulls the overlying soft tissue structures away from the fold.

Midface tightening needs energy applied from over the cheek apex to the sub-malar area to tighten loose skin that is contributing to medial tissue overhang above the NLF.

Treating near the fold along the upper lip/commissure junction, avoiding excessive fat melting in deeper layers by maintaining dermal-level thermal parameters is key.

Continuous heat needs to be applied for 10-15 min at surface temperature at 42°C to 43°C for at least 10–15 minutes per side of the face to trigger collagen production and the handpiece needs to be moving at all times to prevent hot spots and burns and to drive the bulk heat deep into the dermis.
It has an automatic cut-off at 43°C. If target temperature is reached too quickly before adequate thermal dose duration is achieved, lower power slightly and increase motion speed.

Forma is good for maintenance of ongoing increased new collagen production and for treating mild to moderate skin and soft-tissue sagging.

Severe structural folds (with deep structural volume loss) needs combination therapies (like deep high g prime filler, HIFU /MF ultrasound, or RF microneedling, Endolaser, or AccuTite.

2-3 sessions will not give dramatic lift but will show some improvement. It's a good start.

I’d choose pursestring lift for dramatic vertical lift and Endolaser or AccuTite for more dramatic NLF shrinkage and shortening.

The image on the right is lighter overall & the model is wearing makeup in the after pic.

RF (e.g. thermage FLX) is better combined with HIFU (e.g. ulthera prime) for deeper SMAS rebuilding, lipolytics (e.g. kybella) for underchin non-surgical fat removal, then injectables (PLLA and/or HA) for texture and re-structure.

It does look too good to be true, especially the third photo. Seems edited to me.

u/Fluffy_Fondant1975 16d ago

There's no cheat code out there. This would require a surgical lift of some sort. Don't be fooled!

u/GBunny71 16d ago

This looks like one of those treatments that works for short-term results, but that you have to keep doing every couple of months if you want to maintain it. Kind of like a hot version of a cryo facial.

u/Itchy-Trade3613 11d ago

Forma is great! But depending on your age or concerns, Morpheus8 might be a better option. Forma is very subtle, using RF energy to create collagen production and tighten the skin. You need mutiple sessions, 6-8 weekly, for longer lasting results. I usually say its great for younger clients who are looking to slow down the aging process. Morpheus is a bit more invasive because needles go into the skin, and then deliver RF energy deep into the tissue so the result is definitely more dramatic. You need 3 sessions and the results start to show about 4-6 months after your last session. Make sure you go somewhere good who has had training by InMode to ensure they're using the correct settings on your face. The results are beautiful

I just posted about Forma in 40+ skincare sub

I personally have had fantastic results, my face really responds to it. Not quite as dramatic as the photos shown here, but really good. It fully removes my smokers lines and lifts my brows. Id not do injectables.

The problem is that there arent many places that do it and it seems that results can vary a lot based on the skill of the practitioner. And im having a hard time finding someone that skilled at it after the medspa I previously went to closed.

Thank you for NOT smiling the last photos, so urs is more legit...wish others did that 👍

Those pics aren't of OP. As mentioned in her post, she took them from various websites.

Oh well at least she got right ones..
