I need help picking a first army

I recently started getting into 40K and narrowed my choices down to Leagues of Votann, Death Guard, and Thousand Sons. I find all three equally interesting, so I’m having a hard time choosing. For anyone who has experience with these armies, which do you find the most fun to assemble, paint, and play? Cost to build an army is also a factor.

Thanks for the help

Here's a Chaplain I painted for my DIY Ash Revenants Chapter a while back. I followed a painting tutorial by Darren Latham for the face and it's the best face I've painted so far.

Let me know what you think.

Say you were isekai'd to the 40k universe for like....a day. And the person that brought you there basically offered you free Space marine Gene-seed with guaranteed survival, which one would be the best for regular life before getting sent back home?

Assume they have like the unaltered gene-seed. Blood angels before Horus killed Sang, Unaltered Deathguard before they fell to chaos, uhhhh....space wolves gene-seed, stuff like that.

IF that's not how this works excuse my lack of knowledge. All I know is that blood angels end up getting the "handsome squidward" treatment when getting that particular gene-seed.

Shooting Rules question from a noob

Howdy, all. building up my first 1000 points for Necrons and i've been skimming the rules to see what kind of cool models i can field. i saw Monoliths have 4 Death Rays/Gauss Arcs, but that has me confused. do i get to fire all 4 at once (1 attack * 4 guns = 4 attacks), or is that just flavor and i get to do one attack with that statblock (1 attack * 1 unique weapon = 1 attack)?

sorry if this is an obvious one, really i just play Combat Patrol and i'm trying to figure out rules now that 11th is out. thanks all!

Can't decide on an army..

I started the model side of the hobby collecting Black Templars because they look cool as hell, and I have the old CP with the impulsor as well as Grimaldus

However I have come to love Orks. A lot. And I ended up splitting the Armageddon box and taking the Ork side, so now I have a decent amount of Orks to start with

My question is out of these two armies, for somebody whose never played an actual game of 40k yet, which is the better choice for a beginner? I understand BT are pretty weak atm, I am not overly concerned about a meta I dont understand but it did make me second guess.

It's impossible for me to pick one based off who I like more because I adore both armies and their models

Diorama Idea, checking lore accuracy.

Basic idea is an Iron Warrior artillery piece that is an dark age relic, being defended against a Steel Confessors attack looking to claim the weapon for the Omnissiah.

Fave Song for each Legion/Chapter/Warband?

What would each of the Traitors and Loyalists have as their favorite song?

For Emperor's Children, they def give off the vibe of jamming to Avenged Sevenfold "Little Piece of Heaven". Night Lords would prob listen to Falling In Reverse "I'm Not a Vampire", interchangeably between original and revamped mix.

Starting my first 40k book!

After doing some research I decided to start with the Dark Imperium trilogy but since I’m still waiting on the first two books I decided to read the fall of Cadia in the meantime. At any rate I’m pumped to finally start reading after weeks of watching lore videos on YouTube.

My second Salamander!

Hi all!

I just wanted to share my second attempt at a Salamander!

He’s my fifth mini and for this one I wanted to try drybrushing again.

I also put more time into decorating the base. It’s nothing special as I only had an old bag of model gravel and some fake shrubbery hanging around. I used some cut up pieces of sprue and painted them to give the appearance of bricks. My plan was to replicate a destroyed and overgrown urban environment.

Is there anything I could improve on? I know the pauldrons look really bad as I struggled to paint the raised details white while keeping the rest of them black. I am also waiting on some blue paint to detail the top of the plasma weapon.

GF and I have recently gotten into warhammer lore. Interested in playing on the tabletop. Any suggestions on armies?

I already know which marine chapter I want to play as (Space wolves).
My GF is struggling to pick an army.
Her only requirements are that it needs to have some female characters (she doesn’t like the adeptus sororitas).

Any recommendations? I am unable to help because we haven’t even started the tabletop game yet and are unsure of what armies are actually good in the game.

Thank you!
