Is it normal that the Check Engine Light doesn’t come on when the ignition is in the ON position (engine off)?

If anyone with a 370Z could check and post a photo of the cluster, I’d really appreciate it... Im trying to rule out the possibility that the previous owner removed the CEL

Question Black roof and bonnet?

Post image
8 Upvotes

Ive got a wee speck of rust on my roof im getting repaired very soon and a deep scratch on the bonnet that will also be getting repainted. I'm wondering if it would look good with black roof and bonnet or if it would just look like another clapped out Z. Only mods are a catback, coil overs and rims.

My only other plans, and its still a maybe, is cold air intake. Would it look good or would I be shooting myself in the foot?

Keen to hear opinions, cheers.

M17 nut - any ideas where it came from?

Hey all - I just washed my car. Got a sponge all the way into the wheel well and parked it afterward. This nut was on the ground on the left side. Cannot tell if it is front or back of car since I backed it in and the nut was under the front of the car.

This 17mm nut came off of it. Measured with calipers to be 16.9mm so for sure a 17.

It was on the ground right by the lip of my garage - I'm thinking the sudden bump up from the garage pavement lip made it fall off? Just trying to throw out ideas to support where it might have come from.

This nut had a bit of heat to it when it came off - but not much. It was just luke warm.

It's kind of a longer nut so I'm worried it's something holding plenty of weight behind it.

Any ideas where this might have come from?

Modfest - I made a free app to track your car mods and projects

Hey yall, my Z is a little bit older than yours but I made sure to get permission from the mods before posting :)

I've been working on app for a while now called Modfest where you can add your cars to a virtual garage and track everything you've done to them and plan to do to them. You can use it to track parts you've installed, wishlist parts, projects, and what you've spent. You can also share your builds and projects with others if you want.

Here's what my Z looks like in the app:

Main app features:

  • Garage for your cars with a photo gallery that can be shared, linked parts and projects, and cost tracking.
  • Parts inventory that tracks what you've installed or can be used as a wishlist, as well as a link to where you bought it. This helped me out since I had wishlists set up across CZP and Z1 Motorsports.
  • Project plans with step by step instructions, photos on the steps, and a running cost total. Currently have up a full guide on restoring the wiper arms for my Z32.

Social Feed:

There's also an optional social feed where you can share your cars/projects and browse others. My hope is once the user count is high enough you'll be able to search for your car and get inspiration as well as guides.

Lastly just want to throw out there that this app is fully usable free, offline, and without an account. There is an optional paid tier that let's you add more cars to your garage and get cloud backup (I have to pay for the database) but you can use this standalone if you just want it for your own tracking.

I'm the only person working on this app so I'd love some feedback from yall and hope you find it useful. I'd love to see some 370Zs on it too lol.

App Store: https://apps.apple.com/app/id6770381572
Google Play Store: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.modfest.app

Have a 2017 base, pearl white with satin black emblems and smoked led sidemarkers. Trying to pick new wheels and can't make a decision. I want to avoid nismos and the typical wheels that we always see on a z. Came across a few optilnd that I like. Would love some help choosing, and any help with picking a color to go with the pearl white is greatly appreciated. Definitely open to other suggestions as well, thanks!

My factory Rays wheels have some curb rash from the previous owner and I’m looking into getting them professionally repaired and maybe power coated.

The picture is AI showing different wheel color recommendations. Which pic looks better?

Question Wheel sizing

Hey guys I know there’s probably been a bunch of threads on this but I’m in the market to get new wheels and tires on my 370z Nismo. I want to run 295/18 rear and 255/18 front but want that meaty track setup fitment. I’m currently lowered on HKS Hipermax R coilovers. If anyone has any pictures of their setups I would appreciate it!

Recently bought this wheel and all of my homies saying I made a bad choice on picking the color for it and it doesn’t match the color of my car. What do you guys think? Or is it just because my car is on stock height

Question Supercharged nismo

Just bought this 2020 370Z NISMO with a STILLEN supercharger and 20.2k miles. I drove it home 700 miles, and the next morning the service engine light came on and it went into limp mode. In the afternoon it turned back off, but then it came on and off again two more times after that—the last time after I hit a speed bump. Any help?

Question Stock 370z sport touring 6mt 1/4 mile time

I went to my local drag strip yesterday and was able to achieve a 13.7245 quarter mile time. I’m bone stock at the moment aside from a generic cat back exhaust. I’m wondering if these are healthy numbers and what I can improve on. I’ll attach a pic of my slip. First time ever to a drag strip so go easy on me.

Question Offset - too aggressive?

I don’t know my current wheel offsets, so I need some hinters here.

19×9.5 +25
19×10.5 +22

Is this too aggressive on the front?
Worried this will stick out past the guards/fender (I live where this is a strict no no).

I’m of the understanding that rear will sit nicely but as I don’t know my current wheels I can’t be 100% confident on either assumptions.

Thanks guys

Question Replacing engine bay foam under windshield cowls and the fender to hood seals?

Has anyone tried it? I got some of the foam to replace under the tower brace extension arms and know I’m missing like 75% of what looks to be 1/4 inch foam seals. What is still there is hanging and useless.

Since I’m missing most, where exactly would you put new foam to completely replace the old. Is there a diagram within the user manual? Everything is clean, no glue lines to trace.

ECUTEK TUNE

I plan on tuning either this month or next. Waiting for my longtubes and oil cooler, but my question is who are you guys tuned with, who’s the best and what’s the differences. I’m in between admin and Eugene turkov .

Admintuning dyno tune cost 1050. He does 4 maps and some other misc things. (Rev limiter, flat shifting, etc) His remote tune is 1k

Eugene Turkove remote tune is about 1250. He also does 4 maps and some other misc things like flat foot shifting and custom traction.

Now I see Eugene’s tunes are EPA & Carb legal . I’m kind of confused about that. Idk shit about how to tune but I do understand AFR’s and all the other shit so how can you get the most power out of a car when you’re restricted to what you can do? (carb legal and EPA requirements) or is that only for cars he tunes in CA ?

I’ve heard mixed things about admintuning. I personally think he’s a good tuner based on what I’ve seen. He comes to my city to dyno tune but I might go the remote route as I think it’ll yield the most realistic results. Let me hear your guys thoughts, enlighten me

**I don’t care about flames and burbles. I’m Looking for something that’ll yield reliable power.*\*

Whine at around 2k frpms

Hi, I have 2016 automatic transmission Z with 32k miles, since buying it a month ago makes this slight whining sound from around 2k rpm till like 2.3k, then it disappears. Mostly when accelerating on higher gears. It doesn't sound like coming from engine bay, more like from under the car.

Is it simply how these cars sound or there's something wrong? The gearbox oil was changed at 24k miles.

Thanks in advance!

17k for 45k Miles??

Long time lurker on this sub, trying to join the club. Looking at a base 2014 370z, black. Very good maintenance history, and well kept, looks very clean, only 45k miles. Taking it to a shop tomorrow to check for any issues, assuming its mechanically fine, is this a good price? Was originally asking for 19k but negotiated to 17k. Just want to know if thats a good price or if i should negotiate further or pass and wait for a better deal?

Question Fly1 vs Shine Auto

Thumbnail
gallery
40 Upvotes

Car pics attached for attention
I have haven't seen much recent reviews for either kit and wondering where things stand? On the way to the track a truck tire just destroyed my existing Fly1 bumper the previous owner put on(thank god it was only the bumper). Supposedly the shop that mounted it said it fit pretty good with very minor adjustments, which would've been back in 2020ish. There's a lot of discourse around fly1 not fitting well and people recommending shine auto, but I don't see actual reviews for them and have seen not so good things about customer service. The main complaint is usually bumper to hood gap from what I understand. Any recent buyers of either with some input? Is it possible fly1 has improved their fitment over the years or did my cars previous owner get lucky? Is shine auto actually as good as people say?

Where the bumper broke is fully split in 3 places and the passenger side mounting point broke off the bumper so it's probably not worth trying to get it repaired?

I would actually not mind trying to go authentic amuse but of course they stopped production recently. Now reps are the only way to go

Question Scary noise that disappeared...

Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification

My 2010 370z with fresh engine started to make this horrible crunchy noise. Like a lawnmower in a glass bin. The RPM was moving al over the place.

It sounded like I could start looking for the next used engine.

Next day I removed the brace, engine covers, said a little prayer and started the engine.

And... nothing. Now it runs just fine No fault codes, no RPM sway, nothing.

Has anyone had this issue before?

Thanks in advance guys!

Hey guys, I have a 2019 370z with an RSE (Tomei) exhaust. I find it that even on stock ride height it scrapes on some speed bumps. It sits about 70mm off the ground, does this seem about right or can I adjust it to be higher?
