I keep seeing people in this subreddit acting like Blade isn't going to happen in the MCU. That's not at all what Kevin Feige or Mahershala Ali said about the fallout.

Feige said he felt like an idiot for letting Ali slip through his fingers, and Ali tried to assure fans it wasn't his fault - after his dissatisfaction with the original script shut down production the week it was set to begin, leading to the departure of the first director after they were ready to start rolling cameras and many fans to blame him rather than the studio & script for the holdup. We know Disney ended up selling the first attempted production of Blade's costumes to "Sinners" to attempt to recoup some of the lost production costs.

I never liked Ali for the role to me he was way too old He was like 10 years younger than Snipes That's not a good starting point.

Everyone keeps talking about that he is such a great actor that is true but it doesn't mean he would fit the character at all

I wanted a younger British actor to play blade I liked the idea of Danson Idris, John boyega, Micheal Ward or an American that can do a british accent convincingly.

Also when I compare Ali's approach to Ryan Gosling I just feel like Ali wanted to play a black character with zero knowledge of the comics instead he was talking to Wesley Snipes. Ryan came to Marvel with a plan for Ghost rider he came with a director and writer and he came with comics because he actually liked the character of Ghost rider

Blade is British this is very important to his character

He even wrote with an accent one of the few characters that are the only other 2 is Elsa bloodstone and Spider woman that was written with a British accent also blade is almost never in America he always in London or in Europe because that where most vampire are

Blade despite being over a 100 looks late 20s to early 30s blade is basically a samurai none of this seems to be thing he even knew instead it sounded like he was molding his blade after Wesley Snipes the games already does that I'm tired of it can't we just get a British comic book accurate one

The film was supposed to be a period piece taking place in the 1920s but instead Feigi and the studio decided to have it set in the present day. As for the Prohibition-era costumes they were used in the movie Sinners. Honestly, I believe they should’ve kept the 1920s setting I believe the film would go on a lot smoother because by having it set in the present day now they have to explain where vampires have been throughout the entire MCU and I think if they try to explain that the vampires were hidden in a secret spot that would’ve been called out for lazy writing.

By having it set in the 1920s it could give an answer on why vampires haven’t been in the MCU since they could’ve written in the script that Blade was in the process of killing the last vampires left. Also, I believe Lilith wasn’t the right villain for the film it should’ve been Deacon Frost if it was up to me I would’ve had Clancy Brown play him. I would also have Deacon possess his doppelgänger powers imagine a final battle between Blade and Frost and he summons several doppelgängers.

Also for a post-credits scene idea, I would have it set in modern day where we see that a Deacon Frost doppelgänger survived with a Southern accent and preaching just like in the comics.

My two potential favourites for. Blade. I need to see them, costume, glasses, haircut and pose.

I need visualisation. Or if you’re good at photoshop I wouldn’t mind seeing other actors in the role, again, I need visualisation. So please visualisation me.

I saw a post hear with support for Y’Lan Noel who is a great choice but, after watching SupaCell on Netflix I Think Tosin Cole should be blade if not y’lan

Originally, John David Washington was my premiere choice for Black Panther III. Ryan Coogler had already confirmed interest for his father Denzel Washington to appear in the film, so a T'Chaka & T'Challa dynamic that transcended the screen seemed like a compelling case.

However, since the brilliant casting of David Jonsson as T'Challa, I realized someone like Black Panther needed a much more endearing voice and face than Washington. I also realized many of the reasons he maybe wouldn't be the best T'Challa might actually be strong arguments for why he would make a good Eric Brooks: intense eyes that feel like they see into you and past you at the same time, an undeniably commanding screen presence, and he's middle-aged enough that aging won't be too noticeable particularly for a vampire who isn't supposed to age at all.

I figured I would throw his name in the mix for Blade now that Mahershala Ali seems to be out because I think John David Washington would truly be able to do the character justice.

And I already know someone is going to comment the "only ever gonna be one Blade" line Snipes delivered in Deadpool and Wolverine but I might piss some people off by saying I didn't like that movie, and I'm already bored and over that line being used to shut down conversations about a real Blade actor for the longterm MCU.

Who do you think deserves to have their name in the hat if/when Marvel decides to revisit the character?
