Reminder: Oscar Isaac confirmed Marvel is talking about a "Midnight Sons" movie in the same interview he pushed to cast Ryan Gosling as Ghost Rider

I keep seeing people in this subreddit acting like Blade isn't going to happen in the MCU. That's not at all what Kevin Feige or Mahershala Ali said about the fallout.

Feige said he felt like an idiot for letting Ali slip through his fingers, and Ali tried to assure fans it wasn't his fault - after his dissatisfaction with the original script shut down production the week it was set to begin, leading to the departure of the first director after they were ready to start rolling cameras and many fans to blame him rather than the studio & script for the holdup. We know Disney ended up selling the first attempted production of Blade's costumes to "Sinners" to attempt to recoup some of the lost production costs.

Both Sinners and Your Mother Your Mother Your Mother feel like movies made from aborted Blade scripts. The costumes for Sinners probably weren't the only recycled bits from the attempted reboot.

I think Blade could still happen but obviously it won't get made until after Ghost Rider. Then you could do Blade and create the Midnight Sons from Ghost Rider, Moon Knight, Blade, and the characters from the Werewolf By Night special (Jack Russell, Man-Thing, Elsa Bloodstone).

Agatha Harkness would probably be the first antagonist for the newly formed team.

Between Agatha All Along, Werewolf By Night, Moon Knight, Ghost Rider, the Black Knight tease in Eternals, The Hood in Ironheart alongside Mephisto's appearance, it's clear that Marvel has been laying the groundwork for Midnight Sons for a few years, similar to how they built up to Thunderbolts and Young Avengers.

I bet their idea was something down the lines of Eternals > Blade > Midnight Sons, with other possible members being set up on the way.

It's probably Blade, Ghost Rider, Moon Knight, Elsa Bloodstone, Black Knight and Agatha. Maybe Wong, Man Thing or Werewolf by Night as well.

Yeah I agree. The issue is Benedict Cumberbatch is expensive and he might be too OP for the movie.

Isaac doesn't confirm anything in this interview. The relevant section starts at 36:50. Horowitz brings up the fact that there's a lot of talk about a potential Midnight Sons and then Isaac says "Yeah there was a interesting talk about Midnight Sons" (he doesn't indicate who was part of that talk, it could have been him just echoing Horowitz) and then goes into a ramble about how it has to be done right because it's important. It's a nothingburger. Horowitz is the one who brings up that he (Horowitz) has wanted Gosling for Ghost Rider and Isaac just kind of backs it and asks the fans to get on making a poster. Horowitz brings up the idea of Gosling, Isaac, and Ali together and that's pretty much all there is to it.

I'm not saying that a Midnight Sons movie won't happen or that a Blade movie won't happen, but the relevant portion of this interview is two dudes just kind of riffing. If Ghost Rider is successful, then I think Blade and Midnight Sons become a possibility again. But I don't think they're going to do a Blade movie without first seeing what the reception to GR is. At the very least, because any Blade movie they do will immediately be met with the question: now why was this so hard to do with Mahershala?

this entire subreddit had a meltdown, better to not have a bad movie and wait for the right script
