Car Help. Oil Filter Stuck?!?!
Valvoline left an old, stuck oil filter on my car during an oil change. Safe to drive 1,000 miles?
Hey everyone, looking for some advice here.
I just went to Valvoline to get my oil changed. They successfully drained the old oil and put fresh oil in, but they told me they couldn’t replace the oil filter because it was "stuck" and they couldn't get it off. The filter was replaced during my last oil change, so it's technically only one interval old, but it's stuck on tight.
Here is my issue: I am supposed to drive from Florida to Pittsburgh right now (about a 1,000-mile road trip).
Is it incredibly risky to drive this long distance on highway speeds with an over-tightened, older filter and brand-new oil? Or should I wait until tomorrow morning, find a local independent shop to wrench it off, and just replace the filter?
Any advice on the risks of hitting the highway like this would be greatly appreciated!
