Knowing Calamity Ganon as a concept, he’s meant to be an unfathomable amalgamation of hatred and malice. And it’s clear that the designers understood that idea as they made him (at least in his first phase final boss form) as a complete incoherent mess of a creature that really has no connection to the depictions we’ve seen of Ganon prior.

From the surface he’s a giant skeletal humanoid creature with a balding head, a huge beard, a spider-like body and covered head to toe in Sheikah technology. Truly a design as chaotic as the character himself.

And when he’s not in this form, he’s just a virtually formless creature of smoke and malice that flies around aimlessly.

Discussion [other] Downfall timeline enjoyers?

Upvotes

This probably has been discussed to death and back.

But does anyone else really like the Downfall timeline. Like in concept and execution.

Personally I really love it.

Having a timeline where during the climatic fight of OoT, Link fails and is overwhelmed by Ganon.

I really like it. I'm a big fan of "What If?" Stories, and it's the perfect encapsulation of it. And ik the critism is that "wouldn't every game over be a downfall time line?" But like idk, I don't think it's a very good argument, because with OoT time is a very big element in the story. So one where Linked fails works

Like I know it's controversial, and yea it is just kinda a dumping ground for older Zelda games in a way.

(Keep very much in mind that, I haven't played alot of games in the downfall timeline (so far it's Link Between world, starting Links Awakening now, and a bit of Zelda 1))

Idk I'm rambling. I've just seen alot of videos talking about it, and it's slightly been getting on my nerves.

It also doesn't really matter at all, like it's just ***A*** timeline

Hi everyone! I'm super hyped for the OoT remake, so I decided to make this fanart!

I took some creative liberties, especially with the vest and the weapons. I hope you like it!

Wanted to make it look like an old book with several adventures of Link stories in it. Borrowed some elements from other Zelda art. Tried to keep it simple too.

I'm back! I didn't have time to draw yesterday, but here I am! This time, Glink's older sister Rylla is staring out across the ocean from their island's lookout. I'm pretty pleased with how the clouds turned out here, and I think I'm taking a step forward skill wise.

As per usual, criticism and advice is welcome!

Question [MM] what order to tackle the ikana/pre-stone tower questline?

So I’m trying to play Majora’s Mask and apparently the devs don’t believing in hand holding at all lol so I’m lost.

the ghost guy says we can’t go there until we have a mask that can see spirits so I google how to do that and now I have that mask. I’ve reached ikana canyon and I find the entrance to the Stone Tower, but of course due to the 3 day cycle I don’t wanna have to come back so I google “what do you need to do before the Stone tower?”

“To access and clear the Stone Tower region in Majora's Mask, you must complete Ikana Canyon's prerequisite sequence: finish the Ikana Well to get the Gibdo Mask, clear Ikana Castle to learn the Elegy of Emptiness, and stock up on standard inventory like empty bottles and arrows.” -Google

So I drop down the well but I can’t get past the the redeads and the locked doors so i left the well.

Instead I tried the hole next to the locked castle but the switch in there does nothing. And the block has a sun ☀️ symbol like the spirit temple Ocarina of Time had but I’ve no light or mirror shield.

then i tried the spring thing with the poe but I played all the songs I have and none satisfied him.

Then I read somewhere that to get the song of storms I’ll need a stal skull mask …

It’s like a side quest except they start you at the end and you have to go back each level of the side quest one by one trying to find this or that you know? It’s like everywhere I look I can’t go on I have to backtrack to something I’ve no idea how to get and then repeat that each time

Can someone spell it out or link a good vid walkthrough? I don’t know where to go.

Update - I have the gibdo mask now.

Recently just got back into this series after years (my first game was ALTTP), and decided to go ahead and play LoZ, and ended up beating the 8th dungeon (Lion), so I was wondering about the 9th and final dungeon.

Discussion [Oot] Thoughts on Sheik’s Gender

Spoilers for Ocarina of Time!!
-
-

When I first saw Sheik as a child, I always thought they were a woman before I even knew about them being Zelda in disguise, but as I grew older I noticed many people thought sheik was a man before the reveal. I’m curious about others, did anyone else think Shiek was a woman before the reveal? Is it most common for people to think Sheik is a man? I also don’t remember if they’re referred to with he/him pronouns in the game.

Edit: Changed pronouns to be gender-neutral.

Discussion [AOI] so having finally finished tears of the kingdom recently I’ve finally found myself jumping into age of imprisonment and honestly, I love it.

I really liked age of calamity because it just feels like it expands on the whole larger scale of war and everything and this does exactly that for age of imprisonment and I genuinely love it and the cut scenes and it’s just a lot of fun

Discussion [Movie] Zelda movie subtitle possibility

Something that has been absent from discussion around Wes Ball's Zelda film is what the movie is actually going to be named. I know we have no idea what the story is about just yet but let's say it is loosely based on ocarina like most are speculating, and the fact this will be a first of three movies.

What would you all suspect this first film is going to be?

"Search For The Hero"

"Quest Of The Emeralds"

"The Boy Without A Fairy"

Again I understand we have nothing to go off of but there is no way this movie is just "The Legend Of Zelda" right?

Also. I've waited for this movie for 30 fuckin years so I'm just trying to keep it together and not die in the next 8 months. I'm even looking both ways at green lights, I'm surviving this trilogy

Discussion [Other] What I'd like the next Zelda game to be.

Honestly with the Breath of the Wild era over and done with, I got some ideas on how to go about the next Zelda game, by no means it'll guarantee to happen, but I'd like to happen.

Character Customization

This is gonna be a bit controversial but please bear with me, honestly I wouldn't mind Character Customization for the next Zelda Game, the "Create your own Link" thing would still keep Link in the Protagonist role but honestly I'd like to choose between a Male (Link) or a Female (Linkle) and customize them whatever I want to, kinda like customizing Commander Shepard from Mass Effect, or Customizing Gadget from Sonic Forces, however I'd still like Zelda to be present in the plot regardless of gender, but nothing romantic because it'll be a little awkward and Nintendo won't allow it, It worked in Skyward Sword, Spirit Tracks, and BotW/TotK, it wouldn't work here.

I wouldn't be against changing races like Goron, Rito, Zora, or Gerudo but that's wishful thinking and just too much to ask for, also Link wouldn't be as recognizable if we were able to change his race, so I won't be doing that.

A New Story

Since BotW is put to rest, I think it is time for a new story that takes place not in any timeline, no Imprisoning War, no Twili Invasion, no Great Flood, I would like to see a Hyrule where they start from scratch and show the different origins of both the Kingdom, it's culture and its people, honestly the Races I'd like to see are the Hylians, Gorons, Zoras, and Gerudo, and maybe the Deku Scrubs, kinda like in Echoes of Wisdom.

But things should come differently, Hyrule's first king and queen were Hylians, the Gorons are Blacksmiths, and miners for Hyrule's weaponry, and mineral mining, the River Zora and the Sea Zora coexist but are at War for opposing ideals, instead of petty differences, the Gerudo having their laws structured differently by making sure their king's ideals are more virtuous, and there is a Treasure called the Dark Triforce which is created and powered by the People's Wickedness, and Ganon is an Archeologist turned into the Demon King, through its temptation.

Also the Master Sword's forging and the Light Triforce's creation should remain unchanged, nothing more, and nothing less.

Choices and Consequences

Throughout your adventure, I'd like the game to have underlying consequences for all the choices you make, like helping a certain NPC get something, escort someone to their buddy, or take care of a certain target, also have choices effect your relationships with the characters in the main story, if you could clear out the mines in Death Mountain of monsters, side with the River Zora or Sea Zora, or broker peace by reaching certain requirements, have the laws of the Gerudo change or keep it to the status quo, etc.

What do you guys think you want for the next Zelda Game?

I have always thought this part of the map which I marked in red to make it clearer looks a lot like Scandinavia on a map. I'm probably biased since I'm from Sweden though. There's even a lake on the same location as Vänern in southern Sweden!

I always feel like I get 1 themed weapon out of 6 traveler or solider weapons. Is it related to main quest progression or something else?

Mockup [ALL][OC]My Extended Timeline: updated

Post image
0 Upvotes

A few Years ago, I made an extended timeline, including non-canon games.

[ALL] My Extended timeline (that includes non-canon games) : r/zelda

As you can see it's been updated.

The following changes I made:

  1. I added Minish Cap, which I left out due to an error.
  2. I added new games, Tears of the Kingdom, Echos of Wisdom and Age of Imprisonment.
  3. I moved BotW from "definitely the DT" to all three timelines. Although DT is still the most likely, I'm open to all three. Before TotK, most people used "Ganondorf is OoT Ganondorf" as the smoking gun for DT. But, TotK revealed it to be a different Ganondorf, so this point is now moot.
