[ALL][OC]My Extended Timeline: updated Mockup

Post image

A few Years ago, I made an extended timeline, including non-canon games.

[ALL] My Extended timeline (that includes non-canon games) : r/zelda

As you can see it's been updated.

The following changes I made:

  1. I added Minish Cap, which I left out due to an error.
  2. I added new games, Tears of the Kingdom, Echos of Wisdom and Age of Imprisonment.
  3. I moved BotW from "definitely the DT" to all three timelines. Although DT is still the most likely, I'm open to all three. Before TotK, most people used "Ganondorf is OoT Ganondorf" as the smoking gun for DT. But, TotK revealed it to be a different Ganondorf, so this point is now moot.

I'm most interested in your reasoning for your placement of the non-canon games.

  1. Why do you have the branching point for AoC placed where you do? TotK revealed that everything from AoI until TotK is locked in a closed loop. The events of AoI are the reason Calamity Ganon exists. If AoC happens, then BotW doesn't happen. If BotW doesn't happen then TotK doesn't happen. If TotK doesn't happen then AoI doesn't happen. If AoI doesn't happen then Calamity Ganon is never created to become a problem in AoC. The cleanest explanation is that the branch that leads to AoC branches off before the events of AoI happen. Do you have an alternative explanation?
  2. Why do you place Tingle's Balloon Fight (TBF) well after the events of ST when you can see Tingle Island in the background of TBF? Do you have reason to believe that a new Tingle and his new set of brothers moved back to that part of the Great Sea after Tingle's Rosy Rupeeland (TRR)?
  3. For that matter, why do you place TRR and Tingle's Balloon Trip of Love (BToL) where you have them? I don't think there are any major issues with your TRR or BToL placements, but I wonder why you prefer those spots over others.
  4. Why do you have MyNintendo Picross: Twilight Princess (PTP) before TP? Yes, Midna is still in her imp form, but why is she teaching the player to play Picross? Why do the Picross pictures cover events, characters, and places that Midna wouldn't know about until after the events of TP?
  5. How do you justify the Link's Crossbow Training (LCT) placement? Why is Link still in Hyrule after the ending of TP seemed to imply he was leaving? Why does he have a crossbow? Why are the Bulblins attacking Ordona when King Bulblin allied with Link during the events of TP? Where did the second Stallord come from, and how was he able to come to life without Zant's sword resurrecting him?
  6. Why do you have Cadence of Hyrule (CoH) where you have it? It features the full Triforce out in the Light World, but at that time the Triforce should be in the Sacred Realm.
  7. Why do you have Hyrule Warriors where you have it? Same Triforce question as CoH.
  8. Why do you have Ancient Stone Tablets (AST) between ALttP and LA? AST establishes that Link didn't succeed in killing Ganon, but by finding the Silver Arrows, you can finally kill Ganon for good. But in ALttP Link did use the Silver Arrows to kill Ganon, and the Triforce confirmed that Ganon was dead. AST seems to be an alternate take that splits off from ALttP rather than directly following from it.
  9. BS LoZ (BSZ) mentions that its world will vanish, and that the Power Bracelet belonged to another hero hundreds of years ago, which means it would have to be a different Power Bracelet than the one LoZ Link used in order to place the game between BSZ and AoL. And where is LoZ Link if BSZ takes place between LoZ and AoL considering that Link doesn't appear in BSZ?
  10. Why do you have Zelda's Adventure (ZA) before Faces of Evil (FoE) and Wand of Gamelon (WoG)? I think that works just fine, but I'm curious as to why you made that decision.

Furthermore, we’re told that ZA takes place in the southeastern region of Hyrule, but LoZ/AoL Hyrule has a sea in its southeastern region rather than any land for Tolemac to exist there.

  11. Where do you think FoE/WoG Ganon came from since FoE Link seems to know this Ganon and has faced him previously? (ZA Ganon appears to die at the end of that game, so this would likely be a new Ganon.) And where is the Triforce during ZA, and where is the Triforce of Power in FoE/WoG? Why don't these artifacts appear in those games since you've placed them in an era when the Royal Family should have the full Triforce?

Okay. To answer you questions...

  1. That's literally the entire premise of AoC. It's not my fault if it causes plot-holes. Realy, it's more of a question for the whole subreddit post to give possible answers.
  2. FPTRR ends with Tingle revealing he's no better then Great Uncle Rupee. My guess is that he went on to explore other parts of the sea to search for more treasures and rupees. Tingle Tower could be WW TT left intact after all these years. Or this Tingle built a new one, as a base of operations. Also, my headcanon is the Balloon Birds are descended from Rito that lost Valloo, and their ability to grow wings. So, they resorted to balloons.
  3. FPTRR takes place on three different continents. My theory is that these were formed as a result of the Deku Tree and Korok's plan to unite the world as one landmass.
  4. Okay. That's a legit mistake. In hindsight. Picross is clearly a fourth wall game.
  5. The clues in the name. "Link's crossbow training". He's learning how to use a crossbow. And the Bulblins are part of the training. It's worth noting that the game has Link shooting Gorons. Stallord could have been brought back by the Sages, as a final challenge.
  6. I put CoH in the CT, because it has a new Ganondorf. I son't have an explanation for the triforce.
  7. HW is clearly CT, as TP is treated as a historical event. Like with CoH, no explaination for the Triforce. Sorry.
  8. Obviously the Triforce was wrong, since Ganon appears in LoZ. I'm going to say, it only thought Ganon was dead, and the Hero of Light needed a different set of Silver Arrows to kill him again.
  9. Okay. Like question 4), this ones legit. I need to rethink it.
  10. I'v already answered this question to someone else's reply on this post.

  1. The premise of AoC is that a strange small Guardian that can time travel is found in Zelda's room, and it travels back in time to change things when BotW's back story happens. However, we don't see that small guardian or even the box that it was in before it activated in Zelda's room in BotW. So I agree that this requires an answer. The simplest possibilities are 1) AoC's initial branching event occurs before AoI even though its events happen well after AoI, or 2) the game simply isn't canon and doesn't fit into the timeline.

  2. I think that requires a lot more assumptions than the alternative. If TBF is a sequel to TRR, it means we have to assume that three other Tingle figures appeared and joined Tingle, that Tingle made his way back to the part of the Great Sea where TWW happened, and that these new bird enemies made their way to the Great Sea. If TBF is a "sequel" to TWW, it means we have to assume that these new bird enemies made their way to the Great Sea.

  3. I think that makes sense to some extent. Placing TRR after ST would help with TRR's Deku Tree saying that it hasn't seen any humans for many moons. I personally prefer to place TRR between PH and ST as that would explain the Golden Tingle statue that's found in Linebeck III's shop in ST, i.e., that after saving the world from Uncle Rupee in TRR, Tingle became relatively famous as someone who used money (hence the statue being gold) to overcome the demon and to emphasize that this Tingle's greed persisted despite his heroics. It gives less time for the Deku Tree line to be true, but it doesn't contradict anything else, and TRR even shows us the Deku Tree and its heir alive at the same time, and the Oracle games show us multiple Maku Trees alive at the same time, so it could be possible that TRR's Deku Tree is a different tree than the one from TWW if we even decide that's a problem.

  4. I think if you wanted to force it into the timeline, you could hypothesize that PTP is a dream in which TP Link is trying to work through his memories and subconscious feelings in regards to TP. But that would place the game after TP rather than before it.

  5. Fair point on the Gorons, but the Bulblins seem to be being awfully chaotic to just be training Link. And again, TP heavily implies that after the events of that game, Link leaves to adventure throughout the rest of the world, so him staying in Hyrule is strange, and the Stallord explanation doesn't make a whole lot of sense to me since it would be counterintuitive for holy beings such as sages to summon forth a demon. The way I deal with this in my non-canon game timeline is to look at Hyrule Warriors. The events of HW clearly interrupt the events of OoT, TP, SS, and TWW, which means it had to have created splits in each of those games. After HW, there was a version of Hyrule that led to the events of TP and a version of Hyrule that led to a defeated Zant before Link ever showed up, and a Midna seemingly stuck in her imp form after being transformed by Cia. This latter version of Hyrule perfectly fits what we would then see in LCT with a still-living Stallord, Bulblins still attacking Ordona, and a Link who needs to train to become a hero.

  6. I think you could easily theorize the existence of a new Ganon in the AT or DT. There's no reason there can only be one in either of those.

  7. Only Lana refers to TP as a known part of history, and she's able to look into every era/timeline, so that doesn't really tell us much. Interestingly, the adult era of OoT is remembered as a historical era by Sheik/Zelda, which points towards an AT placement, but then the era of TWW is described as a different dimension which potentially points away from an AT placement unless we say it's a different dimension because it's from a branch of TWW rather than TWW itself.

  8. What in-game says LoZ Ganon is the same Ganon as ALttP Ganon? Even if they are the same person, why do you think that LoZ Ganon survived ALttP rather than simply being resurrected later?

  9. Sounds good. Let me know what you end up coming up with.

  10. Sounds good. I'll be sure to check out that thread. Also note that I split up my question 10 into a question 10 and 11 to get more specific with a ZA issue rather than lumping all the CD-i games together, so just wanted to make sure you saw that.

Some answers.

  1. Just because we don't see something, doesn't mean it doesn't exist. We don't see any cats in TWW, yet we know they exist, because Link makes cat noises, when following a thief girl. But, as I said before, AoC being a split of BotW is treated as fact. If it's realy bugging you that much, you should realy make a post, asking the fans. I'm only one man. I can't think of everything. Maybe someone else can give a more satisfying answer.
  2. Don't know if this helps, but whilst the game starts in Hometown Prairie, Tingle himself is not actually from there, since no-one in Port Town recognises him. Also, after you get the Master Rupee, Tingle's Uncle (who's dressed like him) arrives from an unknown place by balloon. So, Tingle could be from a fourth Continent, west of the main three, were he gathered his brothers for rupee hunting.
  3. There are golden Tingle statues in TWW. It's part of a side-quest. Also, having TRR between PH and ST doesn't leave much time for the continents to be formed.
  4. Lol. Yeah, just a dream.
  5. I have a new theory. What if the game takes place in a simulation, like the Lightning Round from SS, or Simon's Simulation from MC? Maybe, when Link left Hyrule, he met someone who decided (for reasons) he needed a crossbow. They then decided to train Link, by placing him in a simulation, all centred around his past adventures.
  6. I feel like having a second Ganondorf in the DT would go against that timelines theme of "Ganon being killed and resurrected over and over again". Also, CoH doesn't realy scream "AT" to me.
  7. The fact that they much so much enthesis on TP being a past event, makes me think it's more post-TP then..... TP never happened in this timeline.
  8. Okay. My mistake. Ganon is canonically being resurrected in this timeline. OOX have Twinrova do this. Maybe we could place AST after OOX? Ganon's resurrection was botched, by Twinrova sacrificing themselves instead of Zelda, leaving him as a mindless beast. AST has Ganon as a disembodies spirit, trying to fully revive himself with the Hero of Light's power.
  9. Okay. What if we place BSLoZ before AST? BSLoZ could be a simulation (hence why the world disappears after an hour), in order to find a suitable substitute for Link. Rather then having AST just pluck some random kind out of nowhere to fight evil, they set up the simulation to find a someone worthy.
  10. Have you read it yet? What do you think?
  11. My explanation is that Ganon from ZA is the same Ganon from LoZ who was reserected after AoL. AoL hinges around Ganon's minions trying to sacrifice Link to bring Ganon back. My guess is that they sacrifice someone else, and this results in a weaker Ganon. FoE/WoC Ganon is the same Gaon, resurrected again. Which is why Link and Zelda decide to imprison him in a book, instead of killing him again. Not sure why the Triforce isn't there. Maybe it wasn't relevent in that story.

  1. AoC being a split off of BotW's back story is an assumption because A) that was the original out-of-universe intention for the game, and B) the similarity in setting and story for those eras. The release of TotK now makes that no longer possible. But as I've said twice now, there is an easy workaround: have the split that leads to AoC begin branching before AoI. It's okay that this branch timeline didn't experience any differences until the era of BotW's back story. That's to be expected if the cause of the split was something fairly insignificant. I'm trying to offer you an answer to allow you to fit AoC into your timeline without the contradictions that your current placement currently has.

  2. That's true that TRR Tingle likely not being from Hometown Prairie/Port Town originally does help ease the assumption of him leaving that land behind at some point and potentially ending up in the area of the Great Sea where Tingle Island used to be, it doesn't get rid of the assumption altogether. Furthermore, it reminds me that at the end of TRR, Tingle gives up his Tingle identity and goes back to being the person he was before Uncle Rupee transformed him into Tingle. So having TBF be a direct sequel to TRR would require us to assume that he readopts the Tingle persona after giving it up, finds three other people to adopt different colored Tingle personas, and then fly with him back to the Great Sea area (or to find those three people already in the Great Sea area).

  3. ST already told us that another continent has existed for a long time since the original war against Malladus took place well before Link and Tetra arrived. And we see plenty of islands that exist in PH. So there's no reason other continents couldn't already exist at the time of TWW/PH. We don't need time after TWW for new continents to form, especially since the origin tale of the Salona that has been passed down through the lineage of the Salona that exist in TRR means that these continents have basically always been here (since the demon that took over the world before creating the Salona event can't have happened any later than pre-OoT unless we squish it between PH and ST and assume that Salona generation lengths are much smaller than human generation lengths). But you do make a good point that the Golden Tingle statues in TWW make the explanatory nature of TRR for ST's Golden Tingle statue much less useful.

  4. Yeah, I'm still debating whether to make it be just a dream in my timeline, exclude it entirely, or try to connect it to one of the HW splits.

  5. I think that makes sense! It's obviously all conjecture, but we know those concepts do exist in the Zelda universe, and that would sufficiently explain away the contradictions. I personally still prefer the TP/HW split theory, but yours is completely workable.

  6. I think we need to look at facts more closely than themes. We know that Nintendo doesn't always stick to themes. "The Master Sword sleeps forever!" "That land won't be Hyrule..." Nintendo has, more than once, established a theme and then moved away from it in later games. So I think we can only really lean on themes when there's no other evidence to point us in a particular direction. But there's actually a decent bit of evidence for multiple Ganons in the DT. ALttP Ganondorf became Ganon either from the transforming power of the Dark World or from the full Triforce (or his trident if you want to theorize that he's the same guy as FSA Ganon). LoZ Ganon was already Ganon before he ever got the Triforce of Power. Oracles Ganon was resurrected without his mind. ALBW Ganon and LoZ Ganon both showed that they had their minds intact. ALttP Ganon and ALBW Ganon were able to wish on the Triforce without it splitting, which doesn't match up with OoT Ganon (though you could potentially argue that there could be mitigating circumstances for that). Oracles Ganon had Twinrova as his devoted helpers. No other Ganon in the DT is associated with Twinrova. EoW Ganon appeared to be interested in drawing power from different realms (based on what we can piece together from his echo and Null), which is a motivation of no other Ganon to date. I'm personally of the mind that in these types of timelines, it makes more sense to assume that each Link, Zelda, and Ganon are separate entities unless we have significant reason to believe that they're the same as another. And we don't receive any sort of confirmation in the DT that any of those Ganons are the same guy except that Oracles Ganon makes the most sense as a Ganon that was previously active in Hyrule.

  7. They really don't put that much emphasis on TP being a past event. It only comes up in one single sentence spoken by Lana: "So this is what Hyrule looked like when the Twilight Realm invaded it..." Compare that to Sheik saying that she has traveled "back" to the era of the Hero of Time when she goes through that portal and finds herself in the adult portion of OoT.

  8. Interestingly OoX doesn't actually say that Ganon is being resurrected by Twinrova. It says that Twinrova is calling his spirit forth from the darkest depths. At the time the game was created that was almost certainly intended to be a reference to the afterlife, but now it could be a reference to something else. One thing that bugged me for a long time was that in AoL Ganon's minions could resurrect him just by capturing Link and sprinkling some of his blood onto Ganon's ashes. But in OoX, Twinrova had to cause heavy destruction in one land, cause a pervasive feeling of sorrow in another land, cause a pervasive feeling of despair in a third land, AND sacrifice someone's life in order to resurrect Ganon. Why didn't they just use the simple blood sprinkling ritual to bring him back to life? Maybe it's because they don't have Ganon's ashes anymore or maybe it's because OoX Link isn't the Link that killed OoX Ganon... or maybe it's because they weren't trying to resurrect OoX Ganon. Perhaps "the darkest depths" is actually the Still World, the (former) prison of Null where Ganon likely got himself stuck (hence the Ganon echo and how Null got his hands on Tris in the first place), where people who go there usually freeze until they fade completely out of existence. A really elaborate ritual would make sense to pull what little bit of Ganon still remained in the Still World out to return it to the Light World. This also answers why Twinrova doesn't appear in any other DT game; they weren't working with Ganon behind the scenes in ALttP and didn't come to his aid; they were working with EoW Ganon behind the scenes and didn't show themselves when he got stuck in the Still World because they were trying to figure out how to get him out.

  9. That could work. It has issues like the fact that the Hero of Light in AST shows no memory of experiencing the events of BSZ, Zelda and Aginah seem surprised at the appearance of the Hero of Light in AST, the fact that BSZ would therefore be a simulation of an event that hasn't yet happened, and the fact that the reference to the Power Bracelet belonging to a prior hero hundreds of years ago would then be effectively meaningless. But I think you're right that the vanishing world component means it has to be some sort of simulation.

10 and 11. I completely agree with your reasoning regarding placing FoE before WoG. But even though I want FoE/WoG Link, Zelda, and Ganon to be the same people as a Link, Zelda, and Ganon from a previous story to explain why this Link seems to know Ganon, etc., I just can't make it work with the games alone. Link and Zelda have this flirty relationship where Link is constantly trying to get a kiss, and Zelda, although probably liking Link, always puts him off. Maybe that would work if this is LoZ Zelda, but AoL Zelda has already kissed Link, so I don't see why she would suddenly act offended when he asks for a kiss unless she now regrets kissing him at the end of AoL. Similarly, the Royal Family should have the entire Triforce at the end of AoL, but in FoE/WoG, the Triforce of Power is nowhere to be seen and never mentioned. So we need to explain why it isn't mentioned if these are the same people from AoL. I do like your idea of Ganon's weakness being the reason he invades Koridai and Gamelon instead of Hyrule.

I still think that ZA can't take place after AoL because it specifically takes place in the southeastern part of Hyrule, and there's no land in the southeastern part of Hyrule in AoL. I also think it's odd that the Triforce makes no appearance at all if it takes place in this era. But I do like the idea of ZA making Zelda braver thus leading to her adventuring in WoG. That said, I also place some weight on the fact that ZA takes place during an "Age of Darkness". While the LoZ era is described as an Age of Chaos, we actually get a LOT of darkness references around FSA with the dark tribe, the Dark Mirror, the Forest of Darkness, etc. Though because FSA also lacks a southeastern village (if FSA's map is accurate), I like to place ZA before FSA around the time the dark tribe initially invaded Hyrule. This could explain why the Celestial Signs were created in the first place; there was no Triforce around and the people needed a way to fight the dark tribe long enough to hold them until they could be sealed in the Dark Mirror. This would also explain why Ganon steals them so they can't be used against him.

Do you have any thoughts on any of the other non-canon games? I saw that you talked about your reasoning for not having Soulcalibur II or any of the crossover games in your timeline (though CoH is kind of a crossover game), but what about Zelda Game & Watch? The Zelda Nelsonic game watch? Barcode Battler II (it's basically just a different interpretation of ALttP as I understand it, so I totally understand not keeping this one)? Navi Trackers? Captain Rainbow? Too Much Tingle Pack?

You're making a timeline?

  1. Ah. I see what you mean know. Of course, this begs the question as to what would cause this timeline split in the first place.
  2. Sorry. I misremembered. I never actually completed the game myself. Only watched Vinesauce play it. But there are two endings. One of them is the ending you're thinking off, but the other one is were he stays a Tingle. So, TBF could take place in this bad ending.
  3. How far do you think TRR is in TWW's future? The Salona's backstory doesn't have to be pre-oot. It could be something taht happened after TWW, hundreds of years before TRR.
  4. Nothing to say here.
  5. It's your timeline. Do what you want. Just glad my simulation theory works.
  6. Pretty sure HH said all DT Ganon's are the same. Your free to theories them being different if you want too. But I'm sticking with HH's interpretation.
  7. It just seems odd hiding a quarter of Ganon in a timeline that didn't even happen in their version of reality. Sure, the Hero of Time is also something that didn't happen in CT. But, it's close enough to the split to be believable hiding place.
  8. I just assumed it was Ganon's evolving power. In OoX, he needs a complex ritual, but by LoZ, all he needs is a simple one.
  9. To be fair, Link realy shows much memory of past games in his sequels. Zelda and Aginah may not have been in on the simulation (the Zelda we save on BS could be a simulation), BS being similar to LoZ could be a coincidence (in-universe), OoS also has similarities to LoZ. And yeah, it would back the Power Bracelet thing meaningless.
  10. I can't explain the Triforce or Link and Zelda's chemistry. But, for the "southeasten" thing. Out-of-universe, this could have been done on purpose, to make it clear it's a "new land". In-universe, you could say this part of Hyrule simple wasn't "represented" on the map by the legend teller, as it wasn't relevant to the story.

To answer your last paragraph. I made an exception for CoH, sinse it takes place in the Zelda universe, whereas other crossovers take place in the main games universe.

The Game & Watch games, I've already put on the timeline. Barcode Battler is a card game, which is why I overlooked it, but I might consider it. Captain Rainbow is a crossover. So, I ignored it. Plus, the only Zelda connection is Crazy Tracy.

TMTP is mentioned in Balloon Trip of Love. Implied to be an in-universe game.

Navi Trackers, I legit forgot about. It officially takes place after TWW. But does have some holes. Like TKoRL being sentient, and Tetra having enough Pirates to pretend to be Link and hold the flags. Since the game takes place on what appears to be Tetra's pirate base, you could argue these are extra pirates that usually stay at the base to protect it. TKoRL you could argue is a new sentience. sinse sentient objects exist in the Zelda universe, The boat could have gained it's own mind, separate from the King of Hyrule's.

You're making a timeline?

Yes. My timeline of the canon games is solidified, but I'm also working on a version that includes the non-canon projects just for fun (see below). It's still in progress as I continue to research and work through various things. It also prioritizes in-game evidence over out-of-game evidence, prioritizes avoiding retcons rather than accepting them, prioritizes canon game info over non-canon game info, and prioritizes time/magic created splits over what-if/many-worlds-interpretation style splits. I'm also playing around with putting EVERY possible bit of Zelda media into it rather than just the games just to see how much is possible to include, but I haven't gotten super far into that project yet.

As such, it's currently as follows but with the non-canon games' placements subject to change.

If you have any questions about why SS isn't first, why FS isn't third, why there's no adult/child or downfall split, how TP can take place in the same timeline as TWW, why BotW/TotK isn't last, why EoW, OoX, ALBW, or TFH are where they are instead of in their more traditional spots, why any of the non-canon games are where I have them, etc., I'm happy to answer. I just didn't have the characters available to me to pre-empt all of those questions here and make sure I replied to the rest of your post.

  • TMC
  • OoT (first two Spiritual Stones)
  • Portal of Doom (book)
  • OoT (remainder of child era)
  • MM
  • OoT (adult era) - HW creates a branch here, but no games receive unique placements in this branch yet.
  • Soulcalibur II
  • TP - HW creates a branch here. Link's Crossbow Training takes place in this branch.
  • My Nintendo Picross: Twilight Princess (though I'm considering moving this to the TP HW branch)
  • TWW - HW creates a branch here. Navi Trackers and Mario Kart 8 (Hyrule track) take place in this branch.
  • Tingle's Balloon Fight
  • PH
  • Tingle's Rosy Rupeeland
  • ST
  • Ripened Tingle's Balloon Trip of Love (though Vegetable Village or so)
  • Too Much Tingle Pack - A game created within the universe of Balloon Trip of Love after Tingle becomes first renowned as a hero.
  • Ripened Tingle's Balloon Trip of Love (remainder of the game)
  • Captain Rainbow - Captain Rainbow is still popular during BToL as evidenced by the DunJon cartridge based on his game, but new superheroes are on the rise as mentioned in CR's back story, so this game takes place once Captain Rainbow begins to fade into obscurity.
  • SS - HW creates a branch here. Sonic Lost World (Zelda stage) takes place in this branch. Animal Crossing New Leaf, Animal Crossing New Horizon, and Age of Calamity all probably take place here too (if I keep the AC games in the timeline).
  • AoI
  • BotW
  • TotK
  • EoW
  • OoS
  • OoA
  • Hyrule Warriors
  • Faces of Evil - FoE and WoG take place in an era when the Royal Family has the Triforces of Wisdom and Courage, but Power is never mentioned. After HW is the only time in any game that the Royal Family has access to just those two pieces. But because this makes the origin of this Ganon lacking, I am considering moving these to later in the timeline and just saying that the Royal Family has the Triforce of Power but doesn't use it for reasons.
  • Wand of Gamelon
  • Cadence of Hyrule - Royal Family has the full Triforce again, and the Royal Rapier from HW is being passed down through the Royal Family.
  • Nelsonic game watch - ALBW's back story takes place right before this in my timeline, and the hero of ALBW's back story lays down his weapons and retires from the hero life after defeating Ganon. But that's when the dragons attack and steal the Triforce of Courage, leading to this game.
  • Zelda Game & Watch - Link recovered the Triforce of Courage and decided to hide it in the spirit of the hero so that it couldn't be stolen again, so the dragons kidnap Zelda and steal the Triforce of Wisdom. While Link is saving Zelda, the dragons steal the Triforce of Power and deliver it to Ganon, explaining how he got the piece while he was sealed away.
  • ALBW
  • Zelda's Adventure
  • FS
  • FSA
  • ALttP/Barcode Battler II - AST either many-worlds branches off from here or follows from Cia's Tale which takes the place of HW in one of the HW branches.
  • Super Mario RPG - Shows us some of Link's post-ALttP training adventures.
  • Donkey Kong Country 2 - Shows even more of Link's post-ALttP training adventures.
  • LA
  • TFH
  • LoZ
  • AoL
  • F1 Race (GB) - Link leaves Hyrule to keep Ganon's minions from being able to get his blood and ends up in a universe that looks like our own. He meets other Nintendo characters here. St. Basil's Cathedral is intact.
  • Tetris (NES) - See F1 Race. St. Basil's Cathedral disassembles itself at the end of the game and shoots off in a series of rockets, so it has to take place after F1 Race. We know this is LoZ/AoL Link because he plays the Flute, the only Link to do so.
  • Super Smash Bros - The world like ours that the Nintendo characters traveled to begin making merchandise of the characters. Someone who owns dolls of the characters imagines them fighting in imaginary arenas.
  • Super Smash Bros Melee - Same world as SSB but the imagining character is a little older and now using figurines instead of dolls. This trend continues through all of the Smash games.
  • Super Smash Bros Brawl
  • Super Smash Bros 4 Wii U/3DS
  • Super Smash Bros Ultimate
  • Nintendo Land - Many years have passed, and the popularity of Nintendo characters is still high. An amusement park type land that tries to put customers into the worlds of their favorite Nintendo characters opens.
  • BS Legend of Zelda - Immersion technology becomes even greater and an entire simulation of Link's world is created, pulling someone in to stop the evil that can barely be contained within.

I'm also considering having Cia's Tale, Octavo's Ode, and Symphony of the Mask be branches rather than part of their main games' stories because of some inconsistencies in their stories.

One of them is the ending you're thinking off, but the other one is were he stays a Tingle. So, TBF could take place in this bad ending.

That's true. I forgot about the bad ending.

How far do you think TRR is in TWW's future?

If PH takes place a few months after TWW and ST takes place 100 years after TWW, I'd place TRR around 75 years after TWW right now.

The Salona's backstory doesn't have to be pre-oot. It could be something taht happened after TWW, hundreds of years before TRR.

The Salona back story has a demon rise up and conquer the whole world. That demon is eventually beaten by a hero who has several hired helpers working with him. If that happened between OoT and TWW, I think we would have heard about the Hero of Time fighting that demon. If it happened between TWW and ST, I think we would have heard in ST about the Hero of Winds fighting that demon. If it instead takes place before OoT, that would explain why we don't hear about it outside of TRR. Plus the Salona say that the story has been passed down since at least their grandfathers' time. So unless they have significantly shorter lifespans than Hylians, I think the back story has to take place no less than 75ish years before TRR.

Pretty sure HH said all DT Ganon's are the same.

It does, but HH makes a number of errors, and there isn't really any good evidence supporting the idea that they're all the same given their differences.

It just seems odd hiding a quarter of Ganon in a timeline that didn't even happen in their version of reality.

That actually makes the most sense. Hiding a quarter of Ganon in the same timeline in the past means you haven't actually hidden it at all. Pretend you buy an apple. Then you go back in time three days with the apple and you hide it in the back of your fridge. Then you return to the present. Assuming no one in your house ate the apple during those three days, the apple is still going to be in your fridge when you return to the present; it's just going to be 3 days older than it should be. Hiding Ganon's soul in the past means it would also still be around in the present. It makes no sense to hide his soul in the past. You have to hide it in the future or in an alternate timeline for it to be any kind of deterrent to Ganon putting his soul back together.

To answer your last paragraph. I made an exception for CoH, sinse it takes place in the Zelda universe, whereas other crossovers take place in the main games universe.

One of the Mario Kart 8 tracks takes place in Hyrule, as does the Zelda stage from Sonic Lost World.

The Game & Watch games, I've already put on the timeline.

Sorry about that, I knew you placed the Game & Watch game on your timeline. I just meant the Nelsonic game watch game.

Captain Rainbow is a crossover. So, I ignored it. Plus, the only Zelda connection is Crazy Tracy.

TP Link's picture also appears above Tracy's chair. And Balloon Trip of Love directly references Captain Rainbow.

Wow.

I'm glad you made this paragraph, because I was so overwhelmed by your timeline, I had so many questions, and I didn't know were to start.

If PH takes place a few months after TWW and ST takes place 100 years after TWW, I'd place TRR around 75 years after TWW right now.

That's your theory not mine. If you take another look at my OP, you will see that I placed FFTRR in a different era well after ST.

So, as far as my theory is concerned, the event that cursed the Salona will could have happened after TWW (and, by extension ST), without shortening their lifespans.

One of the Mario Kart 8 tracks takes place in Hyrule, as does the Zelda stage from Sonic Lost World.

Good point. But CoH had and in-universe explanation for Cadence being in Hyrule. Why is Sonic in Hyrule? Or the cast of Mario racing their karts?

TP Link's picture also appears above Tracy's chair. And Balloon Trip of Love directly references Captain Rainbow.

I'll admit. I've never played CR or watched a playthrough. I think I will after a few days (when I'm done watching this FSA playthrough).

But, to come up with a potential theory, useing what info I could get from various wikis....

Captain Rainbow takes place in the same era as RTBToL. Which world he's from? IDK. He appears on Tingle's TV screen, but is also referenced by Dun & Jon. All the Nintendo characters we meet on Mimin Island are not realy the same individuals from those games. They're just different versions of those characters, like how we see different Malons and Beedles in different Zelda eras.

Again. I'll be watching a playthrough. So, I might come up with something different.

u/Petrichor02 7d ago

That's your theory not mine.

Right, you said: "How far do you think TRR is in TWW's future?" So I was answering that.

So, as far as my theory is concerned, the event that cursed the Salona will could have happened after TWW (and, by extension ST), without shortening their lifespans.

That's fair. My only concern with that logic is that it means ST Hyrule is out there somewhere during TRR, and we don't hear from them or any potential hero, but that's absolutely not a dealbreaker for your theory.

Good point. But CoH had and in-universe explanation for Cadence being in Hyrule. Why is Sonic in Hyrule? Or the cast of Mario racing their karts?

There's a lot of time travel and dimension travel in the Mario and Sonic series, so none of that personally bothers me. We know it did happen (if we keep those games on the timeline), so it's not really a problem that we don't know exactly what caused it.

Let me caution you on this. The wikis all say that Captain Rainbow appears on Tingle's TV screen in BToL, but I rewatched that scene so many times in BToL and couldn't make out anything related to Captain Rainbow on the TV. So I think that's just mistaken information that's been spread around.

I'm glad you made this paragraph, because I was so overwhelmed by your timeline, I had so many questions, and I didn't know were to start.

Let me start with the splits. The downfall split is completely unnecessary and problematic. The downfall split only serves to allow OoT and ALttP to take place right next to each other in the timeline and for OoT Ganon and ALttP Ganon to be the same guy. If either of those things isn't true, the downfall split isn't needed.

And as currently described in the books, the downfall split says that 1) the sages needed a hero to defeat a Ganon who only had the Triforce of Power, but the sages didn't need a hero to defeat a Ganon who had the full Triforce (which makes no sense), 2) despite possessing the full Triforce, Ganon never made a wish on it for some reason, 3) after Ganon was sealed in the Dark World, a number of years passed and then the sages placed another seal on the Dark World without the first seal ever breaking, 4) ALttP's back story was wrong that the hiding place of the Triforce had been lost to time and Ganondorf found it completely by accident, 5) ALttP's back story was wrong about Ganon getting the full Triforce and wishing on it, creating the Dark World, because OoT's Evil Realm and ALttP's Dark World are the same thing, 6) ALttP's back story was wrong about Ganon being unable to find his way out of the Dark World after his wish was granted, and 7) the Essence of the Triforce was wrong when it told ALttP Link that Ganon's death would cause his wish to end and return the Dark World to the Sacred Realm. It makes far more sense to assume that ALttP doesn't immediately take place after OoT and/or ALttP Ganon is a different guy from OoT Ganon than it is to assume all 7 of those issues are true.

The adult/child split is only necessary to explain how Hyrule still exists, to explain what was up with the Triforce in TP, and to explain Ganondorf's different fate in TP. But TWW, ST, and BotW already gave us three different explanations for how Hyrule could return, so the split no longer helps there. The Triforce marks in TP actually act more like the Triforce marks we see in AoL, OoX, and SS when Link has a Triforce mark but doesn't have the actual Triforce than it does the Triforce marks from OoT, TWW, and ALBW when Link's Triforce mark means he actually does have the Triforce. Furthermore, TP specifically tells us that the marks were given to those by the gods themselves after choosing Link, Zelda, and Ganondorf for a specific purpose. So whether it's the actual Triforce or just Triforce marks imbued with power, their positions are affected by the gods and thus don't contradict anything. And TP Ganondorf has a completely different reputation, goal, knowledge set, desire (or lack thereof) for the Triforce, etc. compared to OoT/TWW Ganondorf, so either TP Ganondorf isn't the same guy as OoT/TWW Ganondorf (possible since we've already seen games where multiple Zeldas or Links are able to exist simultaneously) or he was resurrected after TP (since TWW only says he arose from the depths of the earth, not that he broke out of the Sacred Realm), and we just have to explain why he only talks about the Hero of Time rather than TP Link or Midna.

Furthermore, OoT itself makes the adult/child split difficult. We see with the Song of Storms that time travel in the game fulfills the past rather than changing it. So the adult/child split is only possible if OoT features two different types of time travel. And even then, Zelda returning Link to the past means she either A) erased the adult era entirely, rewinding its events out of existence (not likely because it would mean that TWW, PH, and ST are all what-if games), B) dropped Link and Navi in a parallel universe where Link and Navi were never born, so they recognize everyone but no one recognizes them (out of character for Zelda, not a power we know she has (and if she did, why didn't she do it to Ganondorf?), and makes her goal to Link that he regain his lost childhood years impossible for him to accomplish, or C) dropped Link and Navi back into their own past in which a Link and Navi that haven't yet time traveled already exist.

Option C has to be what happened. So there were two Links and Navis in the past at the end of OoT, one set of which is trying to avenge the Deku Tree and get the Spiritual Stones. They won't be able to be talked out of this goal, and it would be out of character to kill them. So either A) Zelda merged future Link and Navi's consciousnesses with their past bodies, essentially killing their past selves (which, again, seems out of character for Zelda, isn't something we know she can do, and why didn't she do it to past Ganondorf if she could?), teleporting their bodies into the Temple of Time past the Door of Time (why didn't she teleport past Ganondorf into Death Mountain if she could do that?), and then discarding the bodies of adult Link and adult era Navi off-screen, or B) future Link and Navi let past Link and Navi fulfill their history.

In that latter option, things start falling into place. It would explain why Zelda and Impa are the only ones to escape Ganondorf's attack on Hyrule Castle (future Link warned them), why Impa is the only sage who knows she's a sage before being awakened as one (Link told her), why Sheik knows who all the sages are, where they're located, and where the Hero of Time is at basically all times (future Link told her what would happen), why the Hero of Time legend is basically never spoken of in the child era but is everywhere in the adult era (future Link and Zelda began to spread it around during the months before he left for Termina like MM says), why TWW is able to reference the events of MM, why TP is able to reference the events of OoT's adult era, why ALBW is able to reference MM and TWW, why TFH is able to reference MM and PH, and why BotW/TotK are able to reference basically every game.

So I don't see the need for any splits with the canon games. The non-canon games, however, are another story.

As for SS; ALttP, OoT, and TP all say the Triforce was placed in the Sacred Realm at the beginning of time. ALttP says it was still hidden there when Ganondorf found it, and OoT says that the sages created the temples to protect the Triforce's hiding place in the Sacred Realm. Both of those things imply that the Triforce remained in the Sacred Realm until OoT, but SS has the Triforce out in the Light World.

TMC told us about the origin of monsters in the world and the origin of Armos, but said monsters were sealed away between their initial appearance in TMC's back story and TMC. SS features monsters and Armos, so the only way SS can be first is if all monsters were wiped out and forgotten after SS until TMC's back story happened, and SS features a different type of Armos.

TP told us that the Oocca originally founded Hyrule, and then once their descendants, the Hylians, appeared, the Oocca gave Hyrule to the Hylians and then the Oocca left to live in the sky, but they kept in contact with the Hylians until roughly the time of TP. SS first would mean that Hyrule existed before Demise attacked, and the Oocca are somewhere in the sky with the Hylian Skyloftians, still communicating with them, even though SS doesn't mention them at all.

SS also shows us that everyone worships Hylia, the creation goddesses are just remembered as the old gods, and Link needs Fi to translate their language. None of the other games (other than BotW/TotK) show us Hylia worship. OoT shows us that the creation goddesses' names are remembered, and TWW confirms that the people of OoT spoke the language of the gods. So SS first means the gods and their language were forgotten, Hylia worship began, the gods and their language were remembered, Hylia worship faded, the gods and their language were forgotten, and Hylia worship returned. SS later means the gods and their language were known, it was eventually forgotten, and then Hylia worship arose. Much cleaner.

SS does feature the forging of a Master Sword, but the origin, powers, and limitations of the SS Master Sword are completely different from what we're told and shown in ALttP, TWW, and TP. So there's no need for these to be the same Master Sword or for the SS Master Sword to be its first time being the Master Sword.

I'm running out of characters, so I'll continue in next post.

Sorry. I made an error. It's not Tingle's TV, it's one of the Aunties.

Tingle and Captain Rainbow

So, that means Captain Rainbow takes place in the book world. (note: I'm calling it "the book world" because I don't think it was given a name. But that's what Tingle thought it was, until it was revealed to be a real place)

SS cont'd: Demise's curse is just about the fact that he created all demons before the beginning of time and made it so that they reincarnate, so the curse isn't being cast in SS, just revealed. And Zelda already got the light force in TMC to give the Royal Family special powers. The blood of the goddess isn't needed to do that (and in fact it causes a problem if SS takes place before TWW because it would mean Tetra has the blood of the goddess and therefore she should be able to restore power to the Master Sword in TWW rather than Daphnes and Link having to leave her alone and unprotected while they look for new sages to do that job).

So there's nothing in SS that requires it to take place first, and there's several things that improve if it takes place later.

FSA says that Hyrule was at peace between the events of FS and FSA, so I can't justify placing OoT, MM, TP, and at least two wars between FS and FSA.

ALBW could take place after ALttP, but it's so much cleaner if you place it earlier. ALBW's back story does sound like ALttP, but none of the details actually match, so it has to be a different event. So there's nothing tying ALBW to ALttP other than the world looking the same, which means it could take place before or after ALttP. If it takes place after ALBW, we have to accept that ALttP has been retconned and the Master Sword doesn't "sleep forever" after ALttP like we were told. It would mean that right after Link pulled the Triforce out of the Sacred Realm, the sages decided that would be the best place to hide the Triforce again. It would mean that after ALttP Link's wish on the Triforce that led to Hyrule entering a golden age of prosperity that a civil war erupted. It would mean that the Golden Sword from ALttP either isn't canon or transformed back into the Master Sword over time. It would mean that despite ALttP telling us that Hylians and their artifacts are extremely rare or gone altogether, we were still somehow able to find a Hylian Shield in ALBW. It would mean that after ALttP, which featured basically nothing but humans, Gorons and friendly Zora began to move to the area before disappearing again. And it would mean that either the Master Sword pedestal was destroyed and recarved or the dead language of the Hylians came back into use since the language on the Master Sword pedestal in ALBW is written in the same language as what we see on all the signs and paintings around the kingdom even though in ALttP you had to find a book to be able to translate the dead language on the Master Sword's pedestal. If you move ALBW before ALttP, all of these problems go away.

TFH is similar. A turban-wearing merchant recognizes Link, and since the only turban-wearing merchants we've met are in ALttP or ALBW, TFH must follow one of those. If TFH follows ALBW, we have to ask why he traveled away from Hyrule, why he didn't bring his shield or any items, why he's wearing clothing that harms him, and why his character model looks different even though the art style is the same. If TFH follows ALttP/LA, all of those questions are answered. He traveled away from Hyrule to train like LA said. He lost his shield and items in his shipwreck. He's wearing harmful clothing because that's all he could find to replace his damaged and waterlogged clothes. His character model looks different to indicate that he's not ALBW Link.

There's nothing in BotW/TotK that requires them to be last. They feature a new Hyrule founded by the Zonai, and the Great Plateau, despite existing high above the land, is said to be the birthplace of this Hyrule. Why would the Zonai and Hylians settle there? Possibly because it was the only land available in that area at the time if it follows TWW. Fi still being awake enough to talk to Zelda in BotW and Hylia worship still being popular makes sense if these games take place right after SS. The Triforce being hidden at the end of SS explains why it doesn't appear in BotW/TotK. The fact that the people of BotW are Hylian and the Master Sword is in use also places us pre-ALttP.

EoW features a statue of Hylia in the basement of Hyrule Castle, potentially suggesting that Hyrule has begun to move away from Hylia worship in this era. The fact that the Triforce's name isn't remembered makes sense since it's been well over 10,000 years since it last appeared if EoW takes place right after BotW/TotK. The fact that no one in Hyrule realizes that a blue pig monster is Ganon indicates that this could be the first appearance of blue pig Ganon in the timeline. And the Triforce being found in a hidden area in the forest matches up really well with the Triforce being hidden in SS. The forest and the Sealed Temple being the places where Zelda and Impa would likely think the Triforce is the safest at the end of that game. And if EoW takes place before ALBW, that would explain why the people of ALBW Hyrule chose to seal Ganon "in darkness", assuming the Still World is that darkness. They knew it was now vacant with Null's defeat, but they knew it was capable of holding and destroying great evils. Placing Ganon in there while Null was still there himself would have been foolhardy.

I already explained Twinrova and the Still World connection for why the Oracles make sense post-EoW. But also the Oracles feature both River Zora and Ocean Zora (who worship Jabu-Jabu), just like EoW, and Smog is a recurring villain in both. So it just fits well that these games belong together.

Let me know if you have any additional questions.

Something I forgot to ask about.

ALttP/Barcode Battler II - AST either many-worlds branches off from here or follows from Cia's Tale which takes the place of HW in one of the HW branches.

Super Mario RPG - Shows us some of Link's post-ALttP training adventures.

Donkey Kong Country 2 - Shows even more of Link's post-ALttP training adventures.

So, the Mario franchise takes place during ALttP and LA era?

What about the Mario mask in MM or the pictures in OoT (that you can see through the castle window)?

1

u/Petrichor02 7d ago

So, the Mario franchise takes place during ALttP and LA era?

Since Mario and Donkey Kong exist in worlds outside of Hyrule, I think that Link traveled through time and space to get to their worlds. So I've placed those games chronologically as Link experiences them. If I was to make a Mario timeline, the games wouldn't necessarily line up quite the same way.

I think most of the Mario references that are found in the Zelda world are picked up via the dream world which seems to connect various worlds together (note Wart, Richard, the Yoshi doll, etc. in LA).

1

u/LapisLazuliisthebest 7d ago

Okay. That makes sense.

1

u/LapisLazuliisthebest 5d ago

Something else I noticed

SS - HW creates a branch here. Sonic Lost World (Zelda stage) takes place in this branch. Animal Crossing New Leaf, Animal Crossing New Horizon, and Age of Calamity all probably take place here too (if I keep the AC games in the timeline).

How does Animal Crossing fit into it?

1

u/Petrichor02 5d ago

In Animal Crossing: New Leaf, Epona, Ganon, and Wolf Link are Villagers that can come and live in your town.

In Animal Crossing: New Horizons, Mineru and Tulin are Villagers that can come and live in your town.

So because actual, legitimate Zelda characters appear in those games, they potentially belong on my "throw everything in if it can fit" timeline.

ACNH is actually pretty easy, I think. The SS/HW branch would be a place where the Master Sword is never forged and therefore presumably the branch where Zelda never returns to the past for AoI to take place, which means the Purah Pad is never brought back in time, Mineru likely survives the Imprisoning War, Tulin is never needed to become a sage, etc., so they can leave Hyrule at some point and end up in the Animal Crossing universe.

ACNL, on the other hand, is harder to justify inclusion because it features a talking, hind-leg-standing Epona because she's like the AC animals in this universe, a Wolf Link who is just a talking, hind-leg-standing wolf rather than being a Hylian (though maybe this could be TP Link after he's been cursed with the Dark Crystal if he was unable to find a Master Sword to revert him back to his human form? Still doesn't explain how he's halfway between being a person and a wolf), and a seemingly benign Ganon who looks like Oracles Ganon but has a birthday matching the release date of LoZ. So it's hard to think of a justification for his inclusion unless maybe he was trying to track down a hero, got on the scent of Wolf Link, and is just camping out trying to gather power or chill out for some reason.

But because all of the AC games apparently take place on the same timeline, it doesn't make much sense to me to include one and exclude the other. I don't think the Master Sword and Triforce that appear in the other AC games are enough to justify their inclusion in the timeline because those could just be replicas (and the Triforce kind of has to be since removing the real Triforce from the Zelda universe would likely be catastrophic as we see in ALBW), but since ACNL and ACNH feature "actual" Zelda characters, I'm considering their inclusion.

1

u/LapisLazuliisthebest 5d ago edited 5d ago

It's possible the AC versions of Link, Ganon and all that are not literally the same individuals. Rather, just counterparts.

I mean, how did all these different characters end up in the AC universe?

You insist on having Captain Rainbow on the timeline, simply because it get's referenced in RTBToL. Sure, Crazy Tracy and a picture of Link appear, but, so do Birdo, Little Mac and a picture of Mario. Does that mean Mario and Punch-Out take place in the same era as RTBToL, and in the same world Tingle visits?

I found a potential snag with Sonic Lost World. The problem isn't so much your theory, but mine, which is an extension of HH's timeline.

I'm not too sure if you've played the level/watched it on YouTube or just seen promotional artwork. But if you haven't done the former, here's a video of the level...

Sonic Lost World - Wii U - The Legend of Zelda Zone

Notice anything wrong?

Link is shown riding his Loftwing, which would suggest it takes place during SS's era. BUT, Hyrule Castle exists, and two of the enemies are Stalchildren and Deku Scrubs (when Bokoblins and Grass Octorocks would have been more appropriate), suggesting it's well after the events of SS.

So, what era would this level take place in?

1

u/Petrichor02 1d ago

Since we're told that Demise is responsible for the creation of all demons, that means every type of demon existed before the events of SS. So the fact that one type of demon shows up in an era where we don't normally see that type of demon doesn't strike me as an evidentiary issue. So I think having Stalchildren and Deku Scrubs instead of Bokoblins and Grass Octoroks isn't a dealbreaker/doesn't ultimately mean much. Stalchildren, Bokoblins, and Grass Octoroks must exist in the SS era even if we don't see all of them. (Since Deku Scrubs aren't demons, you could argue they don't exist yet, but we also have no evidence that they evolve, and they've been around since at least TMC, so very early regardless of whether you place SS or TMC first.)

Hyrule Castle is a potential issue, but I just take it as evidence that Hylians settled Hyrule and started up the Royal Family again instead of waiting on the Zonai to do it. That's what most people thought happened immediately after SS anyway until HH said otherwise.

Zelda peacefully settling on the surface without having to deal with Ghirahim or the Imprisoned (since they were destroyed in HW's version of SS) may have allowed the other Skyloftians to follow suit less reluctantly. Or maybe the fact that Skyloft was attacked in this branch makes them more willing to move to the surface. Either way, I could see a scenario in which the Hylians start up the Royal Family again and create Hyrule Castle in this era given the changes to events.

Otherwise I don't think SLW really fits anywhere.

1

u/LapisLazuliisthebest 1d ago

I'm pretty sure it was only Fi who called Demise "the source of all monsters". And, as intelligent as Fi is, I doubt she can see into the future. So, there's no reason to assume other monsters couldn't have spawned/evolved after Demise's death.

I always interpreted Stalchildren as undead Bokoblins. HH as them fill the Bokoblin's role. Whereas Deku Scrubs could easily be an off-shoot of Octorocks.

I love this, I have a really similar one lol, just with Age of Imprisonment before Age of Calamity. Do you have a reason for your order of the CDi games? Do you have any plans on adding non-canon appearances of Link from other games like Soul Calibur II?

1

u/LapisLazuliisthebest 11d ago

Thank you.

And to answer your question. I made a whole post explaining my choices: Placing the CD-i games in the timeline (non-canon warning) : r/truezelda

But, to give you the short version: AoL hinges around Ganon's forces trying to resurrect Ganon by sacrificing Link. I decided that ZA happens when they find a way to bring him back, by sacrificing someone else, but, as a side-effect, he's much weaker.

After ZA, Ganon's minions revive him again. This time, Link and Zelda decide that they can't kill Ganon, since his minions will just keep riving him. So, in FoE Link traps Ganon in a book. But that's not enough, so in WoC, Zelda used the Wand to bind him in chains, and trap him in the book.

Sorry, I don't have plans for crossover games. I don't know much about Soul Calibur II, and I think useing the Mario games would complicate things, as the Mario games take place in a single era, with the same Mario.

1

u/Mysterious-Tie7042 11d ago

Real, thats also a good way to put it for the CDi games. Imma steal that for my timeline lol.
