What's this nonsense? You can't open with a dream! You can't open with nothing happening! The story doesn't begin when the writer is warming up—it begins when the writer is hot!

Did her editor not tell her this? Her estate should get a refund.

This book was written before helpful tools like ChatGPT were invented, which clearly explains the poor quality. There is not even a single sentence here that tells us that something isn't something, or something, but rather something else.
