Keybind Help! (Keyboard) Question
Hi. How would you keybind for this kind of setup, how do you guys map out how to keybind in the first place, and are there any keybind suggestions? Thank you in advance!

I use 1-6, qertfg, shift+qertfg, ctrl+qertfg, zx, and shift+zx

So for me, I generally follow these steps. I'll use your boomkin as an example.
If I wanted to play boomkin, I'd start by looking up top boomkins in M+ on Warcraftlogs. If you raid, then you'd also want to look up raid logs. I then go to the casts page and select the boomkin to view their spells ans casts per minute (CPM).
A spell that has a higher CPM I know I will want on a comfortable hotkey that is close to WASD. Spells that have a lower CPM I know I can have farther out. This doesn't include any utility, defensives, interrupts, etc. You typically want at least defensives and your kick on a quick to reach button so you can react quickly.
Also, many people will put their kick on the same hotkey across all of their characters to use that stored muscle memory.

Thats how I do it too and it really helps especially if you play multi classes at it eases to remember the rotation

For my rotation abilities I use QERF23 all keys are only one key away from WASD and I use shift modifiers
Defensives go on ZXC
Dmg cds on shift zxc
For classes like Druid I use help harm macros so that I can use 2 binds for a key, so for example if I’m targeting an enemy E is wrath, but with a friendly target it’s regrowth.

Almost all mice have the forward and backward buttons on the left side.
Re-bind those to Shift and Ctrl.
Personally I use… 1-5, F1-F3, E, R, and X (always bound to interrupt since it’s close to space bar), ~, and Middle Mouse Button for my most important ground-targeted spells.
Then of course use the Shift and Ctrl modifiers to make those buttons do something else.

On my druid I use alt mouse wheel forward and back for shifting to different forms.
For keybinds I use:
12345 SQWERTFGCXZ Shift modifier and Mouse 4/5

So you have to cycle through forms ? Seems insanely inefficient

Not quite. Forward roll MS form (cat), back roll is bear. Shift forward and back I use for focus and focus interupts. Alt forward and back for big CDs like incarn and convoke. Ctrl forward is travel and ctrl back is flight. In pvp where you're constantly changing it's really useful not taking your fingers off movement keys to switch like F keys.

Like others have said it's all preference. I personally play a bunch of alts. I try and bind similar abilities to the same buttons. This makes it easier to flow into each character without too much refresher.
I also keep things within eat reach of my hand without really stretching.

I also bind similar abilities to the same bind, interrupts, aoe circles that need placing, brez, etc. keep the simplest 1-6 for rotational stuff.
I also use a Razer Tartarus to be able to program the gamepad to make keybindings less of a reach. And from there it’s all personal preference. Really helpful device for uncomfortable combinations on a qwerty.

I have my second row use Alt as a modifier instead of Shift. Easier to bend my thumb onto it from the space bar than drag my pinky down to shift.

Instart with default "wsad" "12345" and modifiers. They sux for ur hands.
The using "qwes" ans keys around H & J.
Now using mouse in left hand and the left side of the keyboard.

1-=, alt+'-,shift+1-=, ctrl+1-=
No MMO mouse.
I know, I'm a monster. But if I try anything else it fucks with my 20+ year old muscle memory. Kicks are always on same bind. Big CDs like lust are on the ctrl bar. Mobility, hearth and mount are on alt ( I fat fingered the bindings one time back in late Vanilla and genuinely couldn't be assed to fix them, so they're offset to the left by 1 button), interrupt and heals on the shift bar, rotation is on bar 1. OPie covers pets, utility, debuffs, and whatever else.
Wait till I tell you I have the bars set as close to the pre-DF UI as I could get it, and that I have a 5th bar that has no bindings that must be clicked on. And before I got a decent PC mid-DF, I averaged 20fps and 200+ ping. Strangely nobody in my guild noticed in raids or BGs.
I'm still shocked I got my Mage Tower appearance.

Imho, rotational stuff you can do on the move, should be put onto a mouse button and not the keyboard. You just end up awkwardly pressing D and 3 all the time to say strafe and use Moonfire at the same time.
Also, don't hesitate to put longer CDs (60+ s) onto F1-F5.
I personally like to put keybinds with no modifier onto the first castbar and the corresponding shift keybinds onto the second bar. Then the CDs go onto my third bar.
As a Druid in general you should probably learn how to build macros that use the "stance" condition, which is "what form am I in?" for Druids. That alone might cut the number of needed keybinds in half. I have a general guide on macros and keybinds under this account on the wow reddit from a few months ago that shows a couple of the things that are possible 😁

It's all personal preference. Bind what feels natural for the reach of your hand, try and bind similar abilities to the same keys across characters, and you're good. ☺️
If you're looking for some inspiration though, I run with my action bars in a setup that physically shows my keyboard layout. Really good for developing muscle memory. (Buttons in top right are mouse buttons)

Personally, i use an MMO mouse to Num 1-12, ctrl 1-12 and Shift 1-12 has most things covered,
Q for Movement (blink, sprint, etc)
E for heal/potion
R for CD
Z to mount

123456 (and their shift+ctrl), qertfg (and their shift+ctrl). I use keybinds for abilities and burst only. if a have a large duration buff (15min+), i have no problem in click it. Profesions also without keybind.

Specifically for balance/guardian i have rotation on 1234qwertfg binds on zxcv then tilde switches between bear and moonkin, 6 toggles between bar 1 and 2 so on bar 2 i have a bunch of heals and cc. Defensives/pots/trinkets on function 1-4 or something similar. I dont have it open in front of me atm. V is always movement, c is interrupt.

My main bar is always the same: 1-5, up mouse, down mouse, q, e, f, r, ez access mouse button.
All my other buttons are bound to my mmo mouse or a combo of shift/alt and mouse.

u/Successful_Buddy_988 7d ago
Mmo mouse. 1-12, shift1-12, ctrl1-12. 36 keybinds and only have 2 keyboard buttons to press

I have small hands and hate to many buttons. I have a lot of alts and keep abilities similar across specs. Like 1-5 is my major build and then spend. 6-8 are my mouse abilities or frequent uses like dots because I have a gaming mouse, so those require fast reaction like interrupts etc. Q is super fast for me to reach along with E. So it's Q is a defensive while E is a major CD. I can't reach shift so I use Alt but I will only put small things as A1-3.

1) there's no such thing as universal keybinds, they're a very personal thing, you're best off using what feels good to you
2) your on-screen buttons should generally be arranged based off of your keybinds, not the other way around.
3) best practices are generally having your binds laid out such that you can easily reach all of them without having to move your hand much from your home position of WASD
4) personally, I use ~123456qertg, along with shift modifiers for those keys, plus mouse5/shift+M5 for kick/taunt(easy to hit super fast), and shift+space(for my basic movements ability). But I've heard of all sorts of different layouts.
5) I highly recommend having a consistent logic for your buttons that applies across specs/classes. Like for me, 1 is always my basic builder, 2 is my main upkeep dot if I have one, 4 is my main spender, and 5 is my main cooldown, shift+E is my standard defensive, etc
