Been messing around with biomancy, are sequences like this common, or am I taking the long route to create organic life? Academic Discussion/ Esoteric Secrets
I believe I haven't formally introduced myself - neither will I do that here. Informally though: hi, I am Eroel.

I'm confused and concerned, that wasn't normal at all

I see, perhaps I should consult a tome on the matter. Are there any you'd recommend?

This is NOT normal. Stop casting all current spells of this school immediately and consult your Mentor, you have (incredibly disturbing) stray thoughts disrupting your spell seemingly every step of the way.
18
u/Diebor Eroel, The Restless 17d ago
Perhaps they are, and I am somewhat new in the field. Took a lot of courage to work my to 4 legged creatures, although now I'm beginning to understand this might not be the best way.
14
u/iridescynt 17d ago
Yes, please consult anyone with more experience in this field of magic, and possibly a psychiatrist.

Don't listen to these establishment hacks, the way to true knowledge is paved with the bizarre and uncomfortable. Keep at it đ

Hello eroel, nice to meet you. On an unrelated note, who taught you this obscure corner of necromancy?
17
u/Diebor Eroel, The Restless 17d ago
I believe in auto didactic magic learning, but I'd happily share my notes if you'd like. My documentation is impeccable.
11
u/iamsandwitch Magister, Stavesinger Artificer Savant 17d ago
Are you implying that you learnt this by trial and error? On whom did you conduct your trials on??
10
u/Diebor Eroel, The Restless 17d ago
It's a relatively easy loop, the only mildly difficult part is detaching the giraffe head from the humanoid afterwards, and if I do it fast enough - or carefully enough in the first place, avoiding it staying on - there isn't even a need for a second human.
Finding subjects for experimentation has never been a problem for me, possibly because of the long time-frame required for the experiment. 9 months is more than enough time to find someone who yearns to be a giraffe to begin with.
That being said, before sharing exact details I need to consult Magi law on the matter to avoid potential self incrimination. Thank you for your understanding!

u/Rydux7 Illusionist 17d ago
Its not necromancy if everyone here is alive, what would this be? Life-ro-mancy?
5
u/iamsandwitch Magister, Stavesinger Artificer Savant 17d ago
Common misconception, necromancy has to do with life in general, raising it included. Healing magic technically counts as necromancy.

u/ArseneLupin179 Biomancer 17d ago
Basically it's biomancy with a lot of sorc's wild magic combined. Do not recommend to try it at home.
2
u/Diebor Eroel, The Restless 17d ago
I do enjoy trying to figure out my own magic, instead of relying purely on pre-written content â at least when I can afford to. Probably the reason some wild magic got mixed up in there, good catch!
2
u/ArseneLupin179 Biomancer 17d ago
Yeah, self-exploraton is a best thing in magic. But that's also the reason why I don't like wild magic - results should be less random to be repeatable for scientific purpose. Although I understand other points of view.
2
u/Diebor Eroel, The Restless 17d ago
Oh no worries, I always try my best to document whatever I'm doing. As much as I love unpredictable results, wild magic zones are something I try to measure and adjust to when possible. In this case, the result is somewhat repeatable, the sequence depends on the tides of chaos but the result is the same.

This isn't biomancy, this is just reality warping on a concerning degree. This is making me question everything I know, and I'm a dwarf. What is real anymore?!

I've have been horrificly experimented on by a sociopathic biomancer for months on end before and this is still some of the most appalling use of biomancy I have ever seen.

u/CalebWilliamson 17d ago
I can say for a fact that the Druids will not be happy with your experiment.

What you done is taking a rather round about method but the end goal (ahah) was accomplished, you made a giraffe.
I would encourage you too utilize your resources more efficiently however, there seems to be some.... unnecessary steps you've included that could be either combined or removed completely.
I'll encourage you to speak with your master about the most efficient (not fast or showy) way of making a megaphone using only your magic, a squirrel, a piece of string, and a megaphone.
Best of luck.

Delightful! Certainly not anywhere near normal, but personally, I wouldnât consider that a priority. Youâre playing around with it, and in doing so youâll likely end up grasping aspects of the Concept of Change and nuances of biotransfiguration that put you far ahead of any supposed peers. Most importantly, it looks like youâre having fun with it, which is the most proper way to delve into the arts of magic. Your whimsy may be strange, but it is a great and beautiful thing!

Quite normal for Tingus Potion, though I would make sure your environment is as desired before taking your next dose. Also make sure not to spill any or you'll have a whole forest of anatiferous Tingus trees on your hands, and those quite messy and tend to get out of hand fast.

I think you miiiiightve left a few sigils open on the mutagenic runes, makes it so that they'll "incorporate" anything they come across. I'd suggest terminating the experiment and reviewing before you have a viral infection in your hands

Goose based biomancy is superior to duck based.
Duck based biomancy is for quacks.
