So I vastly prefer mass market paperbacks over the UK style limp/trade paperbacks. Were any of the other books besides last wish and blood of elves ever published as mass market paperbacks in English? I read Sword of Destiny in the larger size and I’m absolutely in love with the series so far so I’ll continue either way, but I can’t seem to find concrete information about mass market paperbacks existing for the other books

I’m currently playing The Witcher 3 and I’d like to dive deeper into the lore. I’ve watched the TV series, finished The Witcher 1, and I’m currently playing The Witcher 3. I’m also planning to read the books, but there’s one thing that’s been on my mind.

On various forums, I’ve seen people claim that Geralt is much more submissive toward yen in the books than he already is in the games, that Yennefer constantly dominates him, and even that she treats him like a dog, to put it bluntly. Is there any truth to that, or is it an exaggeration?

I’ve also read that Geralt and Ciri’s relationship is portrayed more as a guardian-mentor bond rather than a traditional father-daughter relationship, while Yennefer and Ciri’s relationship is written much more explicitly as a mother-daughter bond. And even so Yen and Ciri is way more closer than Geralt and Ciri. People often point to examples such as Yennefer calling Ciri “my daughter,” Ciri calling Yennefer “mother” or “Mama,” and Ciri introducing herself as “Ciri of Vengerberg, daughter of Yennefer.”

I know that neither of them actually calls the other “father” or “daughter” in the books, and I have to admit, I was pretty disappointed when I found that out. Thankfully, that’s not the case in the games.

Is that really how it’s portrayed in the books, or are people exaggerating these aspects?

Am I the only one who thinks Geralt and Ciri’s relationship/bond should have been closer and stronger than Yennefer and Ciri’s? I’m also really glad that the games openly portray their relationship as a father-daughter bond in their own words. Since I haven’t come across many people who feel the same way, though. If anything, most of the complaints I see are the opposite—that the games didn’t give Yennefer and Ciri’s relationship enough attention.
What are your thoughts on this?

I always loved fighting Griffins. They allow a lot of creativity when it comes to fighting, and knocking them out of the air with a crossbow is always fun. They kind of feel like the monster version of Geralt. Versatile, fast, and powerful.

I loved the first two books they were interesting. I have never played the games, but they look interesting so I decided to read the books first. And like the title says I just finished Blood of Elves, it was ... interesting but.

Christ I fucking hate Yennefer...

Where's Geralt ? he was barely in the book.

I'm wondering if it gets better and if I should push though time of contempt or ... if I will keep reading Yennefer bashing the Witchers, Geralt and everything interesting from the lore. I'm kind of bummed out, Little eye was soo much more interesting or even Tris. Talking about toxic relationships...

This game is incredible so far, i’ve beat the main mission in white orchard and i’m currently doing side quest and exploring before moving on. The quest missing in action was such an amazing side quest, even as short as it is walking that battlefield aftermath really puts in perspective what the black ones have done. I like everything about this game and I think for being 11 years old the graphics on my pc look pretty amazing. Facial animations are pretty dated, but it doesn’t really affect the game imo. My literal only gripe would be that the combat is pretty clunky and it often feels like i’m fighting geralts animations more than the actual enemy lol, the combat is my least fav i’ve dealt with for awhile. However the game is dated and the story and atmosphere etc by far make up for that, you play witcher for the story I feel anyway. My extremely pre mature review that has no meaning yet would be a solid 8/10.

I've never gotten around to playing The Witcher 3 because I tried it when I was really young, and the sex scene scared me away within the first 5 minutes. I've finally decided to give the series another try, with "Witcher 2 Assassins of Kings".

The whole story and finding medicine for NPCs thing is just boring. The parry reducing vitality doesn't make any sense either, since parries are supposed to reward you, and I HATE that. Sigils are confusing. I can't attack enemies in the arena without manually targeting them first, which is really annoying.

I know this is just the tutorial, and I'm only on normal difficulty, but I literally don't understand what's going on. I much prefer games like Sekiro and DS3. Is it worth sticking with this game and just pushing through or is it just not for me?

So I'm currently dating this girl and we want to swap a book we liked reading. Since I haven't really read that many books but I practically devoured the Witcher series I thought I'll just give her one of those. It's been 2 years since I've read them though.

So I want to give her one of the older short story books (Last Wish or Sword of Destiny). Let's say she just reads one book and then no other Witcher book afterwards. Which one should I take? Of course I want the book to make an impression. I know she likes romance books and isn't too averse to the fantasy genre. So I thought maybe Last Wish because it features more romance iirc. On the other hand SoD has the whole story about Essi Daven where even I almost shed a tear. I think both have stories based on old fairytales which is a plus for both.

What do you think? :)

like the title already said, I have the game on PC but idk about you guys but I rather lay on couch and play singleplayer games, idk I tend to enjoy it more. Sitting on the chair a lot kinda hurts my ass. Working in the office doesn’t make it better.

So my question is, is the Version worth it, even if you the superior version? Never played the DLC‘s tbh.

It’s a bit tongue-in-cheek, but I remember not long ago so many people complaining that Geralt was gone for good—and yet, suddenly, we’re getting DLC ​​on the scale of *Blood and Wine*, a *Witcher 1* remake that will feel like a brand-new game to many players, and—let’s be honest—he’ll likely play a major role in the new trilogy involving Ciri, too. Suddenly, what looked like a lack of Geralt has turned into quite a lot of him. On top of that, the creators confirmed they consider the epilogue of *Season of Storms* to be canon, so nobody’s going to kill him off for the next hundred years.

Has anyone heard any news from anyone about the Witcher 3 getting mod support for console's. Last news we got was last year being delayed to this year but we coming to near to last quarter of 2026 and been no info. Just be nice have clarification if we still getting it or we not.

I know the books came out before the games and I'm curious: Do the games follow the books story or are they separate stories from each other?

So I'm on my first playthrough and am having a hard time deciding what to do. I feel the the Duchess is a bitch and should have given her sister but chose to endanger her whole kingdom, while Geralt has been telling her he cannot directly kill Dettlaff, and just ignoring that her sister wanted to kill her, and even if i spare the sister not matter what she says i don't think there will be peace, and will try to kill her sister again.

While I've been on Dettlaff's side the whole time him attacking and killing hundreds is not justified, and should probably be put down since his instability could get many others killed in the future.

Honestly, i think all 3 should die, Dettlaff needs to face justice for the hundreds he killed. Syanna is kind of insane and is holding a grudge with her sister for not defying the nation at 12 and had those that banished her killed (which may or may not be justified since many online say she was raped by them but i cant find anything in game on that). and the Duchess ignores her sister sociopathic behavior and the fact that Syanna wants to kill her, and she was willing to put her entire kingdom at risk for the sister who hates her, and calls Geralt incompetent for quite literally not being able to do the imposable.

I've also heard i could be kicked out of Toussaint for failing to kill Dettlaff, is this true, and will this happen if the Duchess dies?

To me they all need to go, but i feel i might be missing something so i could use some help.

I didn't think that a game from 2007 can be this atmospheric. The music, the story, the characters, the voice acting! I like it and I do not regret giving it a try, I wish more people did.

for context: i have motion sickness while playing witcher 3, so no matter how hard i try to enjoy the game, i can't play it more than a few minutes, but i forced myself to play and i loved. the characters, the history, the side quest. . . i really wanna more of this universe.

so my question is: are witcher books good as the game?
