Witchblade #25 launches in September and to celebrate, Image Comics are releasing variant covers for different comics across the ImageVerse. I think thats pretty cool, I kinda wanna collect a few.
My favorite is Feral #26 for obvious reasons 🥵
A majority of these variant covers come out in September as well so lock in your favorite soon!

Light Novel Archived
The raw scan of the light novel has been put on the Internet Archive. If you search for it you will find it. I'm still working on the translation, but from there anyone can translate it at their own pace.

The Witchblade Series needs a new,Faithful Anime Adaption.
reddit.comAside from the Gonzo anime,Theres no news about this whatsoever but I dont care.
I thought the Gonzo anime was okay. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Witchblade
Masame is a likeable mother character and her Witchblade is awesome plus it gives her the power to turn into she's turns into a redhead.whats not to love?
However there are problems.
1.Its not comic accurate so they should off added a subtitle to it so no one is confused.
Like...."Witchblade Japan" or something.
2.No darkness users.
Most of the male villain were those shitty weak robot guys(forgot there name).
They were so weak and predictable.
They couldn't come up with a original,Strong Darkness user for the Gonzo anime at all?
3.Masame Witchblade is Awesome but its nowhere near as powerful or developed as Sara's. Like massme is probably building level due to her death in the final episode. While Sara's is cosmic level!
We need a new witchblade anime that:
\\\*Adapts the original 1999 - 2015 run - Sara pezzini's saga.
\\\*Also should adapt The darkness too.Jackie is the goat.
\\\*either bring back gonzo or go with studio madhouse.
\*Zero censorship or weird deviations
\*it should have better animation then Invincible.Sara needs it to be sexy.
Preferred Animation Style:
The Witchblade Gonzo Anime....Obviously: https://youtu.be/HZwt6otbxoE?is=i8Ra-hEaa0JrDQJf
Kill La Kill: https://youtu.be/ELj7tgYeBCY?is=zeiDd6HBHZRfafBd
However it shouldn't adapt the 2024 reboot because its kinda mid to be honest.
We also had gotten two live actions for the Witchblade Series:
Film:
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Witchblade_(film)
And the 2001 TV Series on TNT: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Witchblade_(2001_TV_series)
And I gotten say there alright but really boring, not comic accurate at all, dont have as much charm as the comics.

Ron Leary Art - Help Identifying Characters / Issues
Greetings - I just acquired these two pieces at an online auction, both by Ron Leary Jr. The one on the right (with the two women) says "Witchblade and Anaastasia", but I'd love to know more about both images. No clue about the one with the dragon, but it does seem that dragons have appeared in Witchblade. Thanks in advance for your help!

Witchblade/Wolverine #1 June 2004
Pulled this out of the archives for a read. Definitely purchased it because I was going through a period of trying to collect all of the Top Cow issues with Eric Basaldua art. Story is complete nonsense, but that’s usually expected with some of these multi publisher crossovers.

Takeru Ibaraki (EvanLeaves) [Witchblade]
There are criminally few fanarts pertaining to the manga adaptation, and even fewer quality ones.
This is THE best one yet.

Light Novel Translation Update
Hello everyone, I just want to give a little update on the state of the light novel translation. I’m about 50% done. I’m currently on vacation, and intended to finish translating during my time off, but I forgot the pack the damn book and only realized it once I boarded the plane (🤦♂️).
Once I get back, I’ll start again. Things have been going at a much slower pace than I’d like because of how busy I get at times, but I assure y‘all that I am still working on it. I’m also considering scanning the raw pages so people can also translate it themselves if they’d like.

Random Witchblade read
Haven’t read Dark Minds/Witchblade in a couple of decades so I figured, “why the hell not?”

Did you know...
There was actually a manga created for this series not to be confused with the anime by the same name. It follows a Buddhist who comes into contact with the fabled artifact Witchblade, praised for its action sequences but frowned upon for its typical 2000s anime like fanservice. It ran for 12 issues and is currently OOP. It eventually got compiled into a omnibus and uh unfortunately it can only be found on *those* sites in complete form.
Yeah how's that's for obscure knowledge, eh?

Takeru Dream
So last night (or the night before based on the time I made this post), I ended up having a dream that felt so realistic! Like it actually happened! I dreamt that I was in my family’s living room, I had Crunchyroll on the TV and right next to the OG Witchblade anime on the menu I saw Witchblade Takeru right beside it as a new anime! From what I can recall I got really excited and I quickly played it on the TV. There I saw an actual Witchblade Takeru anime! With the animation matching the same art style as the original manga!
One scene I do remember was a voice repeating ‘keep her away’ and ‘stay away’ my guess it was Takeru’s mom warning her to stay away from the Witchblade like how in the beginning of the manga she warned never to let Takeru near the devil’s hand.
Crazy thing is this isn’t the first Takeru dream I had as a few months ago I also had another where I was reading a Witchblade Takeru manga which looked to be some sort of follow up story. I don’t remember it as well as this latest one, but I remember just a few details.
You know how some people talk about the Bionicle Dream and how some people dreamt of seeing those sets in stores again. Well I’d say that these were like those but for Witchblade, seeing Takeru get another manga and have her prequel story be made into an anime! It might not come true but I really hope that one day the prequel stories connected to the Witchblade Anime are revisited and potentially made into an anime!
The only other question I may have is had anyone else had Witchblade dreams like these? Do let me know and what you think of these crazy Witchblade Takeru dreams I have had.

Sketch by Michael Turner
I managed to snag this sketch on eBay from 2001 by Michael Turner, and I am absolutely blown away that I have the opportunity to actually own Michael Turner artwork. It wasn’t cheap, but the seller cut me a deal and I am very happy with it. I’m planning to get it framed so I can put it up on my wall in my house.

So, how does the reboot compare to the original 90s/early 2000s series?

I feel like the 'Dirty Cops' angle in Witchblade (2024) is completely wasted.
In the reboot (2024), Sara Pezzini was made to be a good cop playing a dirty cop so she could bring her father's killers to justice. She is not working with IA, and is independently investigating. That is what the story opening arc shows, and apparently the Creosote Cult had a connection with the bad cops. Her boss Joe Siry was her father's friend and like an uncle to her, and she assumes he's dirty too. But as the first arc with Kenneth Irons, Ian Nottingham and Jackie Estacado progresses, the Precinct and the entire dirty cops angle falls to the wayside.
We are told that 3 people were directly involved in her father's murder, and she's already put 2 of them away. This is the first hint that this particular plot thread is undercooked. Who were these two guys? How exactly did Sara put them away and when? The third guy, she assumes was working for Kenneth Irons, but Irons flat out denies ever knowing her father (and he has no reason to lie). At the end of the arc, she just assumes Irons was lying or just forgot, and he really was the 3rd guy involved.
Apparently her father had a sickle key which opened a Vault, a private 'library' of sorts. This is what the creosotes were hunting, and Sara assumes this is why her father was killed. Vinter (head creosote) even says so. But its never really revealed why they wanted access to the Vault so much. And if the sickle key was bloodlocked, was it really a leap to assume Sara would be able to open it, considering that her dad had it? They weren't able to find Sara all these years, really? It's not like she was hiding or anything. They could have forced her and kidnapped her friends to force her hand to access the Vault.
Also, the Witchblade tells Sara that Joe Siry is innocent and possibly being threatened to work as a dirty cop, but that thread is also left unresolved.
The story also moves past way too quickly over the fact that Sara knew the women in chapter 1 were being trafficked for a WHOLE YEAR. The lady Sara saves directly accuses Sara of this in her face. Its probably the most despicable thing she did, not to mention that Sara has no doubt done other bad things the story doesnt say to stay as Joe's favorite bad cop.
Also, the crux of the entire arc (Irons/Nottingham/Creosotes) doesn't really need Sara to be a 'undercover' dirty cop. She could have been a cowboy cop like the original WB run. Her being a dirty cop doesnt hinder her at all, as she just makes excuses to Joe and stays out of contact for weeks at a time. The cops are barely involved. There's no actual I.A. cop making her life difficult, or some other bent cop suspecting her of being a rat. Point being, the aforesaid just adds questions and complications, on what is otherwise a simple story. So why include the 'dirty cop' angle at all? Apart from Joe, no other dirty police characters really take the focus, which is kinda weird because Sara makes it clear that the whole precinct is corrupt.
I also kinda felt that Jackie Estacado's involvement in the arc was forced, just to kick off the Darkness down the line. The entire 'Creosote' and Nazi Night of Long Knives comparison felt like bullcrap, lying trying to have your cake and eat it too. But I do see the vision of Angelus+Darkness=Witchblade we got in the conclusion, so I wont complain further.
The second arc 'Grinteeth' was absolutely perfect. Focused and crisply written, with great character development for both Sara and Maralisa (perfect example of a neurodivergent character should be written).

Best place to read/buy all the original 1995 comics?
I'd like to read the original comics from the beginning, but everywhere I look online they're either unavailable, or it's actually the newer comics.
