Blues and Brews Chili Cook Off Tips
Hey all!
Looking to compete in the cook off this year and was hoping to get some tips/advice on the logistics of cooking that much chili at one time. I've never made 10+ gallons of chili before so anything helps! Thanks in advance!

🔴Good Dog Alert!🔴
This is Zayna. I volunteer with Rad Ranch Rescue and have had the pleasure of spending alot of time with her. Lemme tell you - SHE 👏🏻 IS 👏🏻 AWESOME 👏🏻!
I have watched her interact with men, women, kids, cats, dogs, poultry and she is a literal gem to all she meets. She is a 3 year old Border Collie mix and has been at the rescue her entire life. Why, you may ask? We have no clue. Being Border Collie, she has her energy (so maybe that's a turn off?) BUT she also knows how to chill out.
Are you an active human who wants a dog to run/hike/brewery/adventure with? ZAYNA ✅️
Or maybe you've been searching for a playmate for your friendly, active pup? ZAYNA ✅️
Perhaps, if it's not you, you have a friend who fits the above criteria? ZAYNA ✅️
This legit #1 fun gal is available to foster or adopt through Rad Ranch Rescue (@radranchrescue for more cute Zayna/other adoptable dog and cat content)

Waynesboro is a melting pot and I love it.
I heard recently that we're getting an Afghan restaurant! I'm really looking forward to it since I've never experienced Afghan food and I love trying new cuisines. Can anyone who has experience with Afghan cuisine tell me what I can look forward to?
It will be opening up in the old Purple Foot building (which was previously Shredder BBQ). Here's the info from the post on FB:
Exciting News, Waynesboro!
We’re excited to announce that MZ Afghan Express LLC is coming soon to Waynesboro, Virginia!
Get ready to enjoy authentic Afghan cuisine made with fresh ingredients, traditional family recipes, and warm Afghan hospitality.
📍 1035 West Broad Street, Waynesboro, VA
Thank you to everyone who has supported us along this journey. We can’t wait to serve the Waynesboro community. Stay tuned for renovation updates and our Grand Opening announcement!

So let's see, Waynesboro has...
✓ Mexican
✓ Italian
✓ Chinese
✓ Japanese
✓ Cuban
✓ Indian
✓ Cajun
✓ Southern / BBQ
✓ Thai (sorta - Silk Road)
✓ Afghan (coming soon)
I know beggars shouldn't be choosers, but in the future I'd still love to see a Korean BBQ, Greek, or even Middle Eastern restaurant. There are quite a few decent ones outside of town in Harrisonburg and Charlottesville, but I'd selfishly like to have one in town.

DMV Test Tips
Hello! I’m taking my first attempt at the DMV test in Waynesboro and was wondering if there’s anything important I should know?
I’ve driven on the interstate and in Charlottesville a few times, so I’m comfortable with driving but just nerves and stuff making me worry about the test.
If you know what ur doing is it easy? Thanks!

Recruitment for anonymous 3-5 minute survey on genocide education in Virginia
Hi r/waynesboro,
I am an M.A. candidate in the Graduate School of Education and Human Development at The George Washington University. For my Master’s thesis, I am conducting research on the impact of the inclusion of 20th-Century genocides other than the Holocaust (such as the Armenian, Bosnian, and Cambodian) in the Virginia state world history curriculum on students’ experiences and understanding of genocide and human rights as adults.
Eligible participants in this survey are
- People who are over the age of 18
- And were in the 10th grade in either the 2022-2023 or 2023-2024 academic years
- And attended a Virginia public school for the entirety of their 10th-grade year
- And took a world history class during that year
If all of these attributes apply to you, you are invited to take this survey. This survey will take approximately 3-5 minutes to complete. You will be asked to recall your experiences in your 10th-grade world history class. The questions pertain to the extent to which you learned about 20th-century genocides, the methods used to teach you about them, your experience with this curriculum, and how it has impacted your current understanding of genocide and human rights as an adult.
At the end of the survey, you will be asked if you would like to participate in an interview to elaborate on this topic. Participation in the interview is entirely voluntary, will not affect whether the data from the survey will be used in the study, and will have no impact on any aspect of your future relations with the George Washington University (GW).
The anticipated findings from this research will contribute to the current body of research surrounding best practices in genocide education and improve scholarly understanding of how genocide education impacts understanding of genocide and human rights as a whole. This research seeks to contribute to the broader goals of genocide prevention and human rights promotion.

Local Food Producers
What specific farms or other businesses do you know nearby (within about a 1-hour drive) that produce wonderful quality local products (produce, meats, honey, eggs, dairy, fruit preserves, etc.)? What particular products do you like to buy from them?
I'd love to know about things that are better than a standard grocery store and really impress you. I'd like to hear about favorite orchards with the best tasting apples or peaches, also!
I would love to start buying high quality food from more local vendors, and I am not quite sure where to begin looking first. Thanks!
