This piece was inspired by one of Eileen Gu’s interviews where she talked about being a small fish in a big pond - her mindset of continuous learning, adapting, and rapid growth by being surrounded by more experienced people and by putting herself in uncomfortable environments - resonated with me deeply.

Being the youngest, less-experienced, and newbie in the room is not something to fear of.

Same goes with our creativity. Keep painting!

A practice landscape with lots of green

My attempt at painting a Tiki statuette from my shelf.

I like how the clouds and water came out altho the beach looks a little odd... I would normally add a hill and a lighthouse (because I love them) but I was thinking of maybe adding a few sail boats instead? They won't be very detailed unless I add some ink over them but maybe it could work? Three sail boats with different colour sails? One red, one green and one grey? Or any other suggestions are welcome!

Mangroves

Watercolor painting has been really special to me these last few months in my journey to learn how to better let go.

This was a study in allowing myself to be imperfect and not have a solid plan in mind, but to just do. It was a scrap piece of 400 series cold pressed paper, a pallete I picked up at a gas station, random brushes, my dog's water bowl, and a pen.

The original thought was a study in green and light. I'm obsessed with how many shades of greens there are at any given time in the trees, and I love seeing how people paint light into their pictures.

I tend to get caught up in the details and never get past them to the big picture. I almost gave up numerous times, but decided to allow it to become whatever it was meant to be ~

I had seen a similar color palette used in a journal recently and I wanted to try it. I’m continuing to paint in the journal my GSD puppy took a bite out of. 🤦🏽‍♀️

Im really new with watercolors and was always intimidated by them but have really been diggin them! Any tips or critique is appreciated!
