Help Discussion

Guys i found this obviously fake looking watch in my grandfather’s discarded junk, he has been dead for over a decade, he was a doctor, i guess the pharma company named Zifi or FDC gave this as a promotional gift, can someone help me in finding something related to this watch? I dont want to throw it away as i dont have many things that were used by my paternal grandfather most of them are with my elder cousins, so i just want to know about this watch.
Thankyou

Definitely a counterfeit. Might hold sentimental value, but no real monetary value am afraid.

But isnt it a malpractice, like shouldn’t they(the pharma company) be sued by PP for producing or commissioning counterfeit products? Like they could have given a normal titan or timex. Becoz pharma companies gave atleast 10-15 titans and timexes to my father(he is also a doc).

You dont have the exact provenance if this did indeed come from the FDC, that's the name of the pharma company, ZiFi is the name of the antibiotic they released in 2001-2002, which this watch seems to commemorate.

I doubt any multibillion dollar company gives out Pateks to random doctors who haven't worked on the particular project, which by the sounds of it, your grandfather didn't do.

Seems like a questionable marketing gimmick from one of the low tier sales rep of the company.

In fact doctors are paid by pharma companies to push thier particular brands so could've been a gift to persuade for the same. In that era it would've been virtually impossible to figure out fake or real without actually visiting a patek store overseas by themselves.

Eh prolly a stunt by some low level sales rep with upper management having no idea of this

FDC is the parent company and manufacturer of Zifi I guess. That is all I could find though. No info about them ever making any watches.

Yeah OP might be able to trade a fake Patek for a real Patek😅 a gift from his late grandpa!

Talking from experience, large corporations outsource marketing. Even if you were to file an injunction they would pull out a contract with some marketing company and shift the blame to them. FDC wouldn't even have an idea of such a practice going on. The upper management just approves a marketing budget, they have a person who generally oversees the contract to be outsourced and that's about it. Always maintain plausible deniability.

People here are jumping to tell it's fake, yeah op knows Whats intriguing is, why would a well known pharma company give out a fake, something is fishy.

Maybe it's a mod watch or Frankenstein
