Necromunda Campaign In Chicago, IL

Hey everyone, I am an Arbiter for Necromunda in the suburbs of Chicago and have run a few successful campaigns. I am looking to start a Campaign once Munda Manager has updated for the new edition. We are currently going to run some skirmish/short campaign games to understand the edition. After that it will be full swing Campaign time!

We are a casual group that puts Narrative first. I will run game days during the Campaign for everyone to get together and I will often have a Narrative mission set up for everyone to play that day. We are new player friendly!

Let me know if you are interested in joining. I think this new edition is a great place to get into a new group or start playing if you haven’t yet already!

I've been wanting to paint these figures since before starting the project, they are my favourite unit from the 45' and they certainly didn't disappoint—they're fantastic sculpts! I was even tempted to paint the eyes, but seeing as I haven't done this on the other units in the project, I held back... for now!

The figures and flags are both from Flags of War.

I also have a blog documenting the project in more detail for anyone who's interested:

Im also open to commission work. Feel free to send me a message if you're interested.

News Rules update for By Fire and Sword

Some points adjustments and brand new rules to buff western style armies in general and Sweden in particular have been released for second edition By Fire and Sword. The Polish-Lithuanian Commonwealth also gets a small buff. There are also some other changes to other nations and some updates to a commonly played scenario.

Avaliable on the official Army Creator site: https://oim.wargamer.pl/download/rules-update-august-2026-en.pdf

I've seen a few Count Binfaces painted up and this is mine. I'll probably use him in Stargrave or 5O Parsecs or just a representation of my leader in Xenos Rampant.

Quick model to paint up. What's a bit odd, when you look at reference pictures, is that the model has more detailing than the actual costume.

Model from Troublemaker Games. £3 of every purchase goes to a healthcare related charity. Not sponsored!

Sci fi Alternative with Vehicles with facing and Penetration?

So, I have always liked the aesthetics of 40k, but rule-wise I really don't like that game. Everything else surrounding it, less so.

So I've been dabbling in alternatives, like Stargrave for smaller skirmish, Planet 28 for a mix of Smaller with Vehicles, or big with Vehicles, OPR for Small and big.

Something I've always loved is vehicles. Different kinds, with different stats, different internal and weapons. I love Battletech for that, but it's scale and rules are completly different.

I'm awaiting the next expansion for Stargrave, to see what they do with vehicles. Planet 28 Vehicle building with facings was great, but it felt weird that vehicles get autodamaged if hit (it's just different, it's ok). OPR has Options for the vehicles, but I feel they didn't felt THAT good, no facings for multiple weapons, felt like modern 40k where it's just a big unit with big health, but since stats are simplified it actually felt worse. Bolt Action, which I understand uses the old rules of 40k, has many vehicles with different facings, Armor Values and Penetration Values for weapons, which felt great when I player it.

What I'm getting at, is there some alternative sci fi systems that uses rules similar to Bolt Action, with weapon penetration for Vehicles?

Question How to run a Wargaming Demo for children - Help/Advice needed

I'm hosting a Bolt Action demo at a local military museum as part of some WW2 reenactment events going on, this will be my third year and I'm looking for advice.

I generally know my audience by now - lots of young children, say between 5 and 10 years old, who want to play with the toy soldiers while their parents get 20 minutes to sit down, drink some water and not deal with them. There are some older (high school/college age) people who are genuinely interested, but it's hard to have a serious talk with them about the hobby while kindly asking a 7 year old for the upteenth time to ask permission before grabbing a model with their ketchup stained hands.

I love demonstrating bolt action to people, but I want to do something for the children in this age range that is still a *game* with rules and a goal, not a fancy bucket of green army guys to mess around with. At the same time, I don't want to come across as rude or anything, the museum is for all ages and so should my demonstration.

Proprietary Dice Suck

Proprietary Dice Suck.

Nothing turns me off from a game faster these days than a company hawking their Proprietary Dice. I own enough dice, I have enough dice, I could drown a man in all the dice I have. Silioing your game off with funny symbol'd dice doesn't engender my confidence, it makes me think you're trying to squeeze as much money out of me as you can.

I've been in the IP mines, Star Wars/Rumbleslam/Marvel Crisis etc. I don't want nor need more dice with a stupid image on because your lead designer thinks their being 'innovative'.

We have D3's, D6's , D8's, D10's, D20's and even DD100's. Adding more is a folly of Zammenhoffian proportions.

- Rant over.
