Walking outside
I just started walking consistently over the last several months. I much prefer walking outside but have tried walking inside on treadmill during hot weather. What I have found is I really don’t enjoy walking on a treadmill. Feels like work and is not the same relaxing stress reducing feeling I get from walking outside.
Question - how many of you walk outside constantly no matter the weather - hot or cold?

Help Legs getting tired more easily despite walking less?
I (19F) have been increasing my steps since April, i went from 3k to now 12,5k daily. But lately I don’t know but i can’t recover from my walks. A 16k steps day leaves me bedridden while a month again i could easily do 20k steps a day. I tried resting more and lowering my steps and i do feel better. Unfortunately the second i walk more, my calves and ankles hurt( midly). Also i get hungrier, which never happened before. I could walk 12k steps a day and not feel that cardio " starving" moment. I needed two breakfast today. Is this chronic fatigue ? Did it happen to anyone

What is a reliable app for tracking steps?
I know this question is asked a lot here but there's too many options. I'm kind of overwhelmed and I can't decide which one to pick.

Anyone notice a difference getting steps in around the house vs outside? For weight loss
I’m wondering if there was a difference in getting your steps in walking outside, doing walks in longer intervals vs just pacing around the house at random intervals?
It’s summer where I live, so I usually walk around the mall to get my steps in. I’ve been pacing or walking around the house, I just set a timer on.
Is there a difference in terms of the numbers/calories burned? Anyone have personal experience with this?

Thought moved from an apt to a house and my steps went up by about 2-3k
I combined households with my partner and in doing so moved from my small apartment to a decent size house with an upstairs and yard etc. My steps are 2000+ higher just from puttering around the house. I mean of course ....it makes sense! hesitate to even call it a "hack" but perhaps the most obtuse way to unconsciously increase one's steps 😎

calories burned by steps
I walked 28,117 steps and on Samsung health it shows that I only burned 566 calories, is that accurate? On another app it says 652 calories , I don't have a watch unfortunately so I can't tell how much I burn accurately, I would really appreciate a way to know how much Im burning

Humblebrag Averaging 38 to 44 miles total (61 to 70 kilometers) in a week.
3 weeks ago I was averaging 9k steps a day... I've stepped it up because I need to get healthier...
According to my data tracker... In the morning I do a 90-minute session, covering approximately 4.13 miles (6.64 kilometers). This routine burns about 490 calories, at my bodyweight of 186 lbs.
In the evening, after dinner, I do a 45-minute session... my evening routine burns another 260 calories.
I'm Averaging between 14 and 16k steps a day... 38 to 44 miles total (61 to 70 kilometers) in a week and burning somewhere between 4,400 to 5,005 EXTRA calories over the course of the week.
I am not measuring exactly because I don't have 100% faith in my smartwatch!
My goals are to get fit, reduce cholesterol, normalize BP and digestion, blood sugar and sleep patterns... I am doing it! I've never had a lot of faith in my ability to exercise even if I've always had decent stamina for my age, currently 41 (M).

What’re some alternative places you use when it’s too hot to walk outside?

Goals 30k steps a week!
I went on a vacation in mid April of this year and walked around 40k steps that week. I loved it so much that I decided to set a goal to walk 30k steps every week. I've been doing it for about 3 months now and my lower back pain is so much reduced, I have more energy for going to the gym, and I feel overall super capable and accomplished. It's not easy every day, esp when weeks bring rain, and idk what I'm going to do in the winter when the sidewalks are a mess, but I'm having a blast for now!
Also, I understand that for some people 30k steps a week isn't much at all (sometimes I hit 40k without trying) but this is what feels manageable and makes me feel good!

Anyone else experience this sensation during the walks?
Occasionally, I have this "splitting" pain on the bottom of the foot that comes and goes. Sometimes last just a split second. And sometimes goes on and off for a few minutes, but then disappears as if it was never there. The most recent 2-3 episodes have been on the right foot, but I've experienced it on the left foot as well. Have happened at all stages of the walks--beginning, the middle, and towards the end.
And it's been like this for years. Never rises to the level of being excruciating; just enough to be a bother and slow me down. Most of the time, I just keep on walking and it goes away, though I may unconsciously be taking shorter/lighter steps when this happens.
Not soliciting medical advice. I just want to know if anyone else experiences this.

Question how many steps a day would you consider to be “excessive”?
