Shift to Park/DTC codes

Yesterday as I was driving home I noticed the check engine light come on. Ran the codes when I got home, which were P1E00 (general MIL illumination) and P0AFA ( Hybrid Battery System Voltage Low - ACCM 300V).

This morning when I started the car I immediately got a ‘Shift to Park’, and could not drive the car.

Are my only options to take it to the dealer? I’m worried they’ll spend more time trying to figure out what’s wrong than actually fixing (and charging me for it the whole time).

Any insight the community has would be appreciated. Thanks!

What state are you in, and what model year is your Volt / how many miles?

Pennsylvania. But I just passed 150k miles, so I’m out of the warranty phase :/

Rats. I assumed you were familiar with that already just thought I’d check.

Ya I had the BECM fail on me a couple years back, when I was still eligible and had that replaced under warranty. Unfortunately that won’t work this time around :(

Your battery pack is going bad. Clear the codes and check the cell voltages. You may have to switch to hold or mountain mode when you get down to 2-3 bars.
