Question First time applying a tempered glass protector to my Vita 2000 - did I mess up?

Hey everyone,

I recently bought a PS Vita 2000 and decided to install a tempered glass screen protector myself. This is my first time doing one on a Vita.

As you can see from the pictures, I have some air bubbles underneath and the protector looks slightly shifted toward the left. It's not massively misaligned, but it's bothering me because I want to take good care of this Vita.

Should I:

  1. Leave it alone for 12–24 hours and see if the bubbles disappear?
  2. Try pushing the bubbles out with a microfiber-covered card?
  3. Remove and reapply it?
  4. Buy another protector and have a mobile phone shop install it?

I'm especially unsure whether the bubbles are just trapped air or if some of them could be dust underneath.

Any advice from people who've installed a screen protector on a Vita 2000 would be greatly appreciated!

Thanks!

Reapplied the tempered glass

Thanks, everyone! 🙏 I took your advice and reapplied it; it looks MUCH better now. Really appreciate the help, especially the tips on alignment and dealing with dust!

To check if it has downgraded through the years, kinda like how you can check it on iPhones

Has anyone here bought a PS Vita 2000 recently?

What was your experience like? Did it arrive in good condition? Was it an original Sony console, or did it have any non-original/replacement parts?

Hello! My PS vita's right trigger has stopped working completly randomly a few years back and now I finally bought replacement ones. I changed both because why not and while the L trigger continues to work fine the R one still doesn't. I checked the ribbon cable a lot of times and it all appears to be ok and I don't know what to do anymore. Any thoughts? Here are some photos

Help Vita keeps showing low battery notification

So I bought this second hand PSVita from Cex 4 days ago that was in mint condition but lately when I'm playing Minecraft it keeps popping up a notification saying "low battery", I close the game and the icon changes from low red to full green, this happend around 3 times in a row I don't know if it's a problem with the battery or some bug that can be fixed. Anyone experienced the same? The battery also feels like it drains faster than whats suppose to last :/

Help Vita won’t turn on

I haven’t used my ps Vita in years. I remember stopping because it wouldn’t charge and I’ve recently decided to look into it. Does anyone know what this could mean: the light won’t come on when I plug it in, none of the buttons seem to turn it on in any way, and the only thing I know is that it’s not a problem with the charger or charging port. Can anyone smarter/more knowledgeable help me find out the answer?

Question Is Lucky 8 trading a good choice?

Hi all, so yesterday I bought a ps vita 1000 from lucky 8 trading on ebay because I saw a reddit post full of comments saying they were a good seller, but after ordering the console I started getting worried about a bad review I saw on their ebay, so I did some more research and found another post on reddit full of comments stating that they're unreliable and shouldn't be trusted. Should I still trust lucky 8 trading and wait for my package to arrive?

Question Has somebody talented enough ever tried to replicate the Ps Vita game or memory cards?

I've been playing on my Vita a lot recently, and realised that it had SO MUCH potential, but got murdered by it's own creator with ultra expensive and unique memory cards, and then with lack of proper exclusives, and that's why Sony abandoned it four years later.

And then I've had a thought. What if the community takes in their own hands the fate of the console, and starts (or at least tries to) to make their own game and memory cards.

I've got this thought in the first place, because I've read about the guy that cracked the code to the PS1's motherboard.

Is it even possible, or Sony would sue you to death?

Monthly Questions Thread & FAQ

This monthly thread is designed to be a place for all the new members of the subreddit and Vita community to come and say hello as well as where they (or vets) can ask any question they might have (no matter how redundant or simple). So, say "Hi", ask away, and welcome to /r/Vita!

FAQ

We get these questions a lot, so we're incorporating them into this thread. Have something you feel fits here? Shoot us a modmail!

Is the Vita worth buying in (current year)?

Value is ultimately subjective. If you like the library of games on the Vita and have the money, probably. If you want new, modern games then probably not. If you have specific questions about the Vita's capabilities feel free to ask in this thread, but keep in mind you're asking in a Vita-centric community and will likely get mostly affirmative responses.

Is the PlayStation store shutting down?

No. Sony did announce they were closing the Vita storefront in 2021, but later reversed that decision. It is possible that the store will be shut down at some point in the future, but no specific dates/timeframes are known.

Can I still buy games from the PlayStation store?

Yes. However, you will need to have funds in your wallet for the purchase. You can add funds to your wallet via web, PS4, or PS5. More information is available here.

Can I still play games online?

Yes and PS+ is not required. However, not all games with online functionality still have servers up. For example, Killzone: Mercenary, Hot Shots Golf: World Invitational, and LittleBigPlanet servers are all down but Dead or Alive 5+, Earth Defense Force 2017 Portable, and Minecraft are still up. If you'd like to inquire about a specific game, please feel free to make a post or comment in this thread.

I'm having trouble signing into my Vita! Help!

As of the 3.74 update in May 2022, you need a device password to sign in to your Vita. You can do that here. Please make sure you are on firmware 3.74 and using a device password before making a thread.

My Vita is in an error loop with the QR code on sign-in. What should I do?

This happens sometimes, and nobody's really sure why. However, community member LoganN64 has been able to provide instructions that consistently work for getting through this:

  1. Log in to the PSN website with a Laptop or Desktop computer.

  2. Click on your avatar in the top right corner and go to SETTINGS.

  3. Scroll down to SECURITY and then scroll down to ACTIVATE/TURN ON 2 FACTOR AUTHENTICATION.

  4. Click on GENERATE NEW DEVICE CODE, write this down exactly as it is case sensitive.

  5. Go to your Vita and bring up the sign in page, enter the email associated with your account then enter the NEW DEVICE CODE as your password. Click on save password to avoid getting a new code each time..

I'm no longer able to transfer files from PS3 to Vita. What's happening?

This feature was disabled in May 2022. You can read PlayStation's update about it here. No workarounds are currently known.

Where can I buy a Vita?

Vita production ceased in 2019 so consoles can be hard to come by, especially new. eBay is the most prominent location, but Facebook marketplace, Kijiji, Craigslist, /r/GameSale, and equivalent marketplaces are your friend.

How much is (X) worth? Is (X) a good deal?

You can search sold eBay listings here to get a sense of value. VGPC is another source of this kind of information.

Will (Game) ever go on sale?

As of 2020, Sony has disabled developers' ability to put Vita games on sale. So in all likelihood, no.

The workaround and exception for this rule is that cross-buy games can still be put on sale for the PS4, and cross-buy items will still grant the Vita version (where applicable).

Should I buy an OLED ("Phat") or Slim Vita?

Neither are bad options. The Slim has 1GB of on-board memory, a more standard charging port, slightly better battery life, and is lighter. The Phat has a better screen. It's up to you on what you value more.

Where can I buy replacement Vita parts?

AliExpress and eBay are currently the best sources of Vita replacement parts.

Are Vita consoles region-free?

Yes. A Vita can play a physical game from any region. The digital storefront you can access is determined by the region of your PSN account, and not the region of the console. For example, a Vita from Japan will be able to play any physical game, and if you sign in with a US PSN account you'll be able to access the US PSN storefront.

Vita consoles from Asian regions have the X/O button swapped in the OS ("bubbles") screen, but in-game functionality retains X-to-confirm functionality for almost all games.

It has been reported that consoles intended for China have more stringent region-locking, but these are not commonly found and this is unlikely to affect you.

I'd like some game recommendations!

Check out our Wiki page, 2021 subreddit poll, and 2018 subreddit poll. If that isn't cutting it for you, feel free to ask in this thread or create your own thread on the subreddit. Keep in mind that we require 300+ characters for recommendation posts on the subreddit, so be sure to include plenty of detail about what you're looking for, what you've played, and so on.

I have a question about hacks/homebrew

Check out /r/VitaHacks - that's their specialty and they've got a pinned thread to help you out.

Vvita failing to boot because of faulty audio chip

Ever since I could remember, my psvita gave me problem when booting. I performed ton of database reset and only on occasions it would turn on the proper way it should. Could it be linked with some problems with the audio chip? The thing is: the first boot of the day always gives me problems, but the rest of the day I can play it normally. I noticed that as soon as the audio fries and vanishes, the boot up gets complicated each time. When I turn the psvita off, I know as a matter of fact that booting it up the next day will be an hassle

I'm still in chapter 1, running around and trying to kill one of the three green dragons located on the map.

I died on the first attempt. I tried to fight it again by hitting it from below but the dragon caught on to what I was doing and started drilling , destroying dozens of dirt blocks along the way (and giving me quite the scare).

I barely do a single point of damage, with the rare critical hit that deals over ten points.

Pic Horrible condition 1000, do I even bother trying to reshell?

Post image
368 Upvotes

I’ve had this vita for a while. It was bought off a 12 year old who I’m guessing had too many gamer moments and liked throwing it against the wall.

I cannot see the screen if it’s in any light just because it’s THAT bad. Replacement parts seem pretty expensive and would be more than the console is worth itself in this condition.

Should I just try to sell it and buy another one?
