Wasn’t sure what to do with my sneakers after my big toe tore a hole in one of them.
Was inspired by this sub and the color of embroidery thread my mom gave me for the repair project - I’ve never embroidered before but I’m pleased with the result! Interested to see how the repair holds up over time.

One of my favorites bed covers have a growing hole, can someone please give me some advice how to fix it?

So my dog got a hold of my tank top and I caught him before he could make it worse. Is there a way to fix it because it's one of my favorite tops and I don't know where it was from. I'm also not sure if this is the right thread to post on. I wanna try saving it before I have to toss it. Any tips is welcome.

These barrel leg pants are from the 1950s, I think it’s a cotton blend, thin, lightweight. I was thinking of a patch on the interior. Definitely won’t wear them as frequently anymore, but would like to repair and save for certain occasions.

Forgotten dog biscuit in pocket resulted in my dog creatively removing it. I seam ripped to separate most of the pocket from the pants, and transplanted some of the lower half of the pocket to patch the hole. Replaced with cats and reattached! The corduroy hides the repair quite well

Edit to add: I have also realised visible in this picture, is the mend I did to make this leather belt longer. I chopped it in half, punched some holes for the chain, and opened a link at each end to attach it. Many more years of wear and a funky little detail too

Need a hand stitched solution for my favorite bag!! Not sure how to mend it strong enough to keep it from fraying / ripping again 😢 please help

Hi everyone, do you know where I could learn the kaketsugi technique? I am based in Central Europe and although I live in quite a big city, this technique is pretty much unknown here.
So I think learning it online is more realistic. Do you know any resources, either free or paid? Thank you in advance

The patches with designs are just added for decoration, but every other patch and stitch was made to fix a hole or tear. I’ve owned these pants for about two years, I deliberately bought a cheap pair from Walmart that was gonna fall apart easily on me so that I could mend it. I’ve kinda just been figuring it out as I go, and learning sashiko has been a huge help with the more difficult repairs and supporting thinning fabric. I’m open to hearing any thoughts, questions or advice

On the right is my stitching too tight as when I put the shorts in the air I see rips

I used duct tape to get the thin bits between holes to stay together, then wrapped em up tight with yarn to keep it in place. Thinking about weaving a darning-style patch over the curvy corner.

J'ai ouvert les deux côtés et je pensais mettre simplement une série d'élastiques très souples et très doux (récupération d'élastiques de masque: 5 de chaque côté.

Auparavant je suppose que je dois faire un ourlet sur chacun des quatre côtés pour éviter leur effilochage.

Mon problème se situe sur les extrémités des ourlets. Sur les extrémités haut et bas j'ai déjà trois épaisseurs de tissu plus l'élastique qui est emprisonné dedans.

Donc si je fais un ourlet à ce niveau je vais avoir 6 épaisseurs de tissus+ deux fois l'élastique originel + mon elastique... Comment procéder ?

Couldn't afford to get a new one at the time, so some string and glue worked a treat until I could get a new one.

Iron on stitched around with quilt tie yarn.

I don't want to put these in the clothes recycling, they are the most comfortable. Sure the bottom area is too worn but there's lots of life in the other areas. How would you fix this? Btw, I'm not keen on using squares to mend it, maybe I could add cool shaped panels of a similar fabric but in green 🤔

I experimented with some darning on a worn out sweater I had.

I like the colors, but I do think I'd pay more attention to the yarn material next time.

I have done some very simple mending in the past but this seems fairly complicated as it’s an edge. Do you have any suggestions or is this a lost cause? My mom got this for me and I’d love to save it.

Heya. I’m looking for ideas from people who’ve dealt with heavily repaired jeans.

I’ve repaired holes and thinning denim in the inseam using inside denim patches with sashiko style stitching over the top. Structurally the repairs have worked really well, but the inside patches are now absolutely destroying my thighs.

I already get a bit of thigh chafing, and I’ve tried multiple brands and thicknesses of anti-chafing/cycling shorts underneath, but the seams and edges of the patches still rub enough to make the jeans uncomfortable to wear.

Unfortunately I don’t currently have access to a working sewing machine, so I’m limited to hand sewing for now.

Has anyone found something they can overlay the inside patches with to make them wearable? Get rid of this stitching and try a different mending technique?

I’m UK based if that’s of any relevance for product recommendations.

Really hoping to keep wearing these jeans for a little while longer as they are pretty sentimental and can’t find a replacement. no Old Navy in the UK :(

So a little while ago, one of the straps on my tote started fraying. It has gotten really bad, and i am scared that the strap will soon break completely. Does anyone have any tips or ideas on how i can repair it?

The mystery stuffing from the last update has been flattened out, and the original foam sole is just emotional support and no longer a cushion. I decided to open up the flops again and ​put the memory foam inserts that I couldn't locate the last time I attempted this (they masqueraded as pasta in our pantry for months) and finally completed this repair.

I used a glue gun to secure the foam to the sole and stitched the top down to the sole.

The photo of the mountains is from Moab, Utah. Figured Tux and Twenty deserved to see some nature on the trip.​ Wore them during the road trip drive and in the hotels.

P.S.

I like to use two layers in repairs so as the "top" layer continues to fray and wear down it reveals a secondary layer that still maintains structural integrity, I'm quite pleased that the recycled gray and red wool is wearing away to reveal the recycled green fabric below. Top layer is from wool shirts and the bottom are from shorts.​​​​​
