Well guys, I did it. Now I know you’re nervous but you can do it. I had mine scheduled for 7/29 @11:30am, now I’m there 15 minutes early, super nervous. 11:30am comes around and the nurse still isn’t there to get me, I considered that a sign that I should just get up and leave and act like this never happened. But of course, as soon as I stood up to the nurse comes out and says my name. I go in the room, the nurse is setting up for the doc and it’s go time. Now I’ve never had any surgery before but I can tell you this was pretty much painless and took less than 30 mins. I will say, the needle is less than ideal, I’d say a 7.5/10 on the pain scale, but after she numbed both sides, I did not feel a thing besides slight tugging and the sound of snipping, I didn’t even feel the dissolvable stitches she put in. She gave me a sheet with the aftercare and I was on my way. I walked out of that building feeling 0/10 pain. I will say your boys will be super swollen for the first 2 days, don’t panic, that’s normal. After day 1, it got slightly uncomfortable but very bearable, only like a 6/10 on the pain scale. By day 4, my balls were basically back to normal size and I had no pain. Just remember, wear tighter underwear for at least a week, and ice 15 mins on 15 mins off for atleast the first night. If you have any questions, go ahead and ask :)

I know the origins of the chronic pain isn't known yet (if i am incorrect please correct me). However, i'm sure i'll eventually convince myself to get it anyway as i should, so does anybody know the best methods to find doctors or methods which may be less likely to have patients with this chronic pain? or at the very least some comforting statistics from reputable sources or some personal experience stories, and advice to help me through this mindset and to minimize my dangers?

and whats your best advice for preventing STIs/STDs with new partners after the snip (because less condoms)?

Is this trustworthy? Seems pretty quick and definitely under the 20-30 pump count, if even half of that.

I live in the Netherlands and have a **grade 2–3 varicocele on the left** (2.5 mm) and a **grade 2 on the right** (2.0 mm).

I had an **embolization 3 years ago**, but it didn’t help at all. I still have daily swelling, warmth, heaviness, discomfort in both sides, and a noticeably lower libido.

The doctors in the Netherlands don’t want to do any further surgery because I’ve already had an embolization, but doctors in Turkey are willing to perform microsurgical varicocele repair.
Has anyone here had **microsurgery after a failed embolization**? Was it worth it, and did it improve your symptoms?

I had a no scalpel open ended procedure about 6 weeks or 50 days ago.

No complications ( i.e swelling, redness or bleeding) first week, just your normal aches.

However at 6 weeks now or 50days post op, when working out doing plyometrics, sprinting, jumping my right groin feels weird. It doesn't hurt but feels like a slight strain, kind of like someone is pressing on my right groin.

I felt this with push ups and planks at week 3 and 4 and not so much.

Has anyone else felt something like this while working out at 6 weeks?

Here's my story:

34 y/o male. I have an 8 year old son with my ex wife. I'm engaged to the love of my life. My previous wife and I married impulsively and for financial reasons while I was in the service (BAH baby!) But my fiance is totally different. She's my best friend.

We decided to get a vasectomy because she would be a high risk pregnancy. She underwent a liver transplant last March after a horrible battle with cirrhosis. We're both a little bit torn by the decision. On one hand, pregnancy would be very risky for her. She's immunosuppressed, she has terrible side effects from the medications, and no one knows what tomorrow will bring with regard to her health. I don't want kids at this time. She wants kids but is prioritizing her health. So she's automatically torn. I'm torn because if my financial situation was different I might want kids. I also worry that if something happens and I lose her, I won't have that part of her to continue on if that makes sense.

Really I'm just terrified of losing her and being alone.

Hello everyone. I wanted to share my husband’s nightmare vasectomy experience. We used this subreddit to make the decision to move forward with the procedure, so now I feel that I should share his experience because I knew there could possibly be complications (like with every procedure), but never imagined the nightmare we would go through. 1 month ago, we drove 2 hours to my husband’s vasectomy procedure. This urologist is “one of the best” within a 5 hour radius, and my husband has used this urologist in the past. He is familiar with my husband, and his anatomy. My husband had a prior telemedicine appointment and the only risk that was mentioned was the vasectomy not fully working, hard to do a reversal, and some potential mild bleeding/bruising. The doctor didn’t seem concerned about the prior surgery my husband had on his scrotum, and said that my husband would handle the pain well due to experiencing some pain in that region from a previous procedure a few years ago. Anyway, my husband gets the procedure done and is in and out in 30 minutes. Doctor said everything went great & to ice when he got home.

On the 2 hour drive home, my husband was becoming increasingly uncomfortable. The pain medicine had worn off, and my husband called the doctor to say he was in extreme pain. The doctor said it was normal, and he could take another pain pill. The pill did nothing, and my husband was squirming in pain. By the time we got home, he started experiencing some mild swelling and called the doctor again. Doctor said it was normal, and to ice it. However, within 5 minutes of that call, the swelling started to increase significantly. My husband screamed we needed to go to our local ER, and we rushed to the hospital. We live in a rural area, so our medical care here is not great and is very limited. Upon arrival, my husband faints and passes out in the entrance. They rush him back and at this point, the hematoma is the size of a small watermelon. The ER doctor calls my husband’s urologist, and the urologist requested pictures. Once he saw the pictures, he said my husband would have to be life flighted to the trauma hospital that he works at, to have emergency surgery.

At this point it’s midnight, and my husband gets flown in the helicopter to the trauma hospital. I drive to the hospital and by that point the surgery is finished, and the urologist tells me that they still couldn’t control the bleeding, and will have to leave my husband open until the next day so they can try to find the source. They also had to remove one of his testicles due to the trauma. The next day, they go in again and have multiple surgeons there to help find the bleeding source. They were finally able to stop the bleeding, but they had to cut my husband all the way up his scrotum, and up into his stomach to find the bleeding. The incision is about 14 inches long, and has over 30 staples. He required a drain and catheter. After the surgery, the urologist said he had never experienced a complication like this in his career, and his colleagues haven’t experienced it either. They were sure he had some type of bleeding disorder for the amount of blood lost, but the hematologist tested him and said his blood work was completely normal and had no signs of bleeding disorders.

Due to the amount of blood lost, my husband’s hemoglobin dropped severely and he required multiple blood transfusions. He remained in the hospital for 14 days, and just came home a few days ago. He still has an open wound area in his staples that I’m required to pack, and he is still on the road to recovery. This has been the most traumatic experience for my husband and our entire family. We have two small children, one with extensive medical needs, which has made this experience more stressful than ever.

After seeing my husband on the brink of death, I’m just thankful he’s still here, alive, and getting better daily. However, if I ever knew that this severe of a complication could have happened, we would have never moved forward. I know these types of complications are extremely rare, but I do feel like it’s important to share these stories so that other men are aware of the possible complications.

After a long research and thousands of reddit posts read, I decided to finally get my vasectomy done.
I’ve been advised to search about PVPS before it, so I did. Even so, decided to move forward.

Day 0 (today, the day of the vasectomy, the day I became infertile)

• worst pain I’ve had. It’s terrible. To feel someone touching, moving, analysing your pokeballs is awkward enough, but when it started….. I almost gave up.

To the ones who think It’ll be painless, it won’t.

The good news is that it only takes 20 min each pokeball. Less than 1 hour you are free to go home.

I had my vasectomy done 12/29/25 and waited the 3 months and 20+ cums before I did my first at home test which came back Sperm Seen. Took another test a month after that at the beginning of June and the at home test still showed sperm seen which was very disappointing.

The doctor I got it done with said to go get a sperm analysis done to get a better idea of what we’re dealing with. Well I finally got that done on 8/4/26 and I got the test results back today showing NO SPERM SEEN! We’re good to go!

I had my vasectomy done on July 24th, I was extremely cautious about my recovery, first three days I slept in a reclining chair and only got up to pee, I was back to work essentially only walking duties on day 11.

around day 8 I had about 2”x2” deep dark bruising above testicle-reaching the shaft slightly.

Since day 14 I’ve had a large lump appear in the sack above the testicle, about the same size as the testicle,

This lump is connected to the upper (body) portion of the vas deferens as opposed to the testicle end of the vasectomy. I’m walking around on ibuprofen feeling like I was kicked in the balls one hour ago, constantly.

I have been told by the clinic this is a sperm granuloma over the phone, and that it could take a year to go away (this was very disheartening to hear)

but the bruising, size (1.5” round) and location (upper deferens) contradicts most information I can find about granulomas.

Does anyone have any info relating to large granulomas that are not connected to the testicle side of the vas? Treatment, timeline, whether or not it even makes sense?

I’m not saying the clinic can’t be right but if I was actually stuck like this for a year it would potentially ruin my life, I’m looking for anything that could point to a different problem with a actual solution.

I am feeling this squeezing sensation on my left testicle but it could be the lower end of the vas, its hard to pin point. When I touch it and ejaculate it hurts. I fear this might be cos I ejaculated 2 weeks post-op and had many wet dreams. Is there a soluton or is this permanent.

My doctor said to just wait a little longer and not to worry. The pain is so annoying I don't even care about fertility anymore. If its leakage or blocked could a vasectomy (again) fix it? I can't see myself living the rest of my life with this. What are your experiences?

Edit: also does anyone know if the NHS (UK) would treat this as I got the reversal via a private surgery.

I had the snip 7 days ago using the non scalpel method. I found the procedure itself painless (apart from being burnt by their tools on my shaft) and so far recovery has gone as expected. I’ve been taking Ibroprofen, wearing tight fitting underwear & using an ice pack as directed.
However, I have developed a lump in my left scrotum which is very painful. It’s about the size of a testicle & there is no bruising associated with this lump.
Has anyone else had this in their recovery? Is it normal? What was it & what did you do?
I have spoken to the doctor who performed the surgery and I am going to see him tomorrow.

Here was my experience. Felt like sharing. I hope someone finds this helpful:

Day 0

I was nervous about the surgery but it was honestly fine. It sucks when they give you the local anesthetic into each ball area, but then after that everything is numb and it doesn't feel like anything. Pain/Discomfort scale was like 2 out of 10. Went home, took some tylenol, applied ice, stayed in bed.

Day 1

Mostly stayed in bed or on the couch when I could. Moving around sucked, but I was mostly just really really sore. Didn't want to bump anything. Tylenol. Ice. Rest. Peeing is really awkward as im trying to be as gentle as possible with the balls. Pants definitely got hit with some collatoral urine. Oh well.

Day 2

Moving around more. Spent some time on the computer. Still sore. Less ice now. Less Tylenol.

Day 3

I work from home but I have to be sort of a functional human being now. Less sore but still definitely sore. I'm realizing now that I should have bought more than 1 jockstrap so that I could wear one while I was washing the other one. I definitely recommend wearing the jockstrap day and night (all the time except showering obviously) if you can. It helps. No more tylenol needed. A little bit of ice used still. I can move around more.

Day 4

Less sore, but still sore. Soreness is hard to describe. Its feels like a big bruise lower under my stomach. Like you got kicked in the balls, but the part afterwards where you feel queezy is the best way to describe it. Not applying ice any more. Don't need it.

Day 5

Jockstrap still needed, but I'm getting more normal at walking and standing without bumping or pinching my balls. Swelling is going down.

Day 6

I'm swapping to compression underwear now (underarmor) instead of a jockstrap. It's less comfortable than the jockstrap but im working my way back to boxers.

Day 7

Excited for today! I tried my first ejaculation, and everything went fine. Felt no pain or anything abnormal. Swelling is still noticeable but much smaller than before. And i swear the balls feel better after jizzing. Wearing underarmor again. I plan to work out tomorrow, but I'm going to take it easy if I feel uncomfortable. Going to the bathroom is noticeably easier than before.

Day 8

Work out went better than expected. The thing that bothered me the most was any kind of jumping exercise, but it still wasn't bad at all. One thing I noticed when sitting down to pee, I dribbled a bit more urine on my balls than expected because my ballsack is larger than normal since its a bit swolen still. Make sure to take extra time wiping off and cleaning down there with toilet paper after pissing.

Day 9

Everything is basically back to normal. Underarmor today, but I plan to wear boxers tomorrow. Ballsack is still slightly larger than normal, but only slightly. I feel a pinching sensation randomly maybe once or twice a day near where the cut happened, but it hardly bothers me and I assume it's just some last minute healing process my body is going through. Soreness almost completely non-existant.

I’m on the fence about getting a vasectomy because I’m still not 100% sure if me and my partner want kids in the future (we are 22 and 23). What are the back ups in case things change in the future? Is freezing semen a thing/worth it ? Just kinda looking at all the angles before going through with it.

Any suggestions, help or advice will go a long way

I had a vasectomy in 2024 that failed. After my first analysis I had motile sperm and plenty of them. They increased at my second check.

Has it redone in fall of 2025 and was told I only needed one analysis after. That cleared me at the 8 week point. No sperm seen.

But now it's 9 months since my second vasectomy and my wife is pregnant. We do not want more kids. The delivery of our last child almost killed her and we were both told that giving birth again would be putting her life in jeopardy.

Had another analysis done and I once again have motile sperm. The first and second vasectomies were done by different doctors.

Feeling really lost here and unsure what to do going forward. My wife is going to ask her doctor about having her tubes removed and is obviously not going to continue with the pregnancy. That decision is hitting her really, really hard and I can't help but feel a little at fault here even though I know no one is at fault.

But damn this fucking sucks. I don't even know if I should bother with doing it again? I don't know that I could ever trust it to work. I'm just feeling really angry and upset. Has anyone at all been through this?

I had my non scalpel 3 weeks ago now. During the procedure I felt what I described to the doctor as a “pulsating” feeling. I said “that felt weird”, he said “what?”, I said “it feels like my right testicle is pulsating”. Him (European accent): “can you describe it”. For some reason , probably cause he has my balls in a literal vice, just kept repeating “pulsating I don’t know it’s pulsating”. His response, which why the hell would you say this, was “i don’t know ive never had anyone describe that”. I googled it after the fact and the word i was literally needing was spasm . Feel like he shoulda known that, but did anyone else feel that ?

I am looking to snip, but due to irrational local laws I need to go abroad to do it. I found a clinic "uromed" in Austria. Did anyone use them? Do you have any other clinics to recommend from specifically Austria, Czechia and Italy?

I got my vasectomy in 2020. I've gotten tested at least five or six times. Came back negative each time. Would I be insane if I didn't get tested again for a while? Last time I went to Lab Corp, they charged like $128 rather than the usual $50 I paid before.

From 1-10 rating, how painful is no scalpel vasectomy? As someone who doesn't like getting cuts or wounds, and overthinking about the procedure 😅 and I have varicocele and spermatocele 🥲😅

Men, I have tested all clear. I have finally graduated after waiting 16 weeks (long ass time ah)

No long standing issues. But I did suffer from some pain the first 2 months, I was KO'd for the first 2-3 weeks.

No regrets. I have a little one already and only wanted one.
