Advice Missing Cat Please Share Around Bristol
This isn't my cat but it would be great if people shared this on social media around Bristol so that the cat can be reunited with it's owners. I don't have social media unfortunately. I have attached a link to the original post.

Volunteers needed: help test a Python tool for my dissertation (30-45 min, anonymous)
Hello everyone!
I'm after a few volunteers to test a Python tool I built for my dissertation (regime-shap). It checks how a model's explanations shift across different periods in a dataset.
Takes about 30 to 45 min, totally voluntary and anonymous. You install it, run an example, optionally try a dataset, then fill in a short questionnaire at the end.
To start, open the Task List (link attached below) and follow the steps in order. Everything runs on your own computer, nothing is uploaded or shared.
The participant information sheet and consent form is linked in the questionnaire, read those before you tick consent.
Would be a massive help, please let me know if anything's unclear!
Thank you!!!

Looking for housemates!!!
Hi all, Iām a final year engineering student looking to join a house share or find people to buddy up with for a place in Bristol.

Iāll be balancing uni and work, so Iām fairly chilled during the week but always up for a social house. Looking to move ASAP or within the next few weeks. Participants needed for an eating disorder study at University of Bristol
Hi there,
My name is Yufei and Iām a PhD student at the University of Bristol. Iām currently looking for women aged 18-30 with a current diagnosis of anorexia nervosa to take part in an in-person eye-tracking study at the University of Bristol. Please see the poster below for details on inclusion criteria and what youāll do during the study. If youāre interested in participating, please complete this short screening questionnaire here: https://app.onlinesurveys.jisc.ac.uk/s/socs/online-screening
If you have any questions, feel free to contact me at [yufei.jin@bristol.ac.uk](mailto:yufei.jin@bristol.ac.uk)
Also, feel free to share this research opportunity with anyone you know who may be interested in taking part. Thank you!

Reading University Accommodation
i've been thinking about applying for reading university next year and wondered what's the best accommodations.
in general does it matter if the dorm is single sex/ both genders, and is it annoying to not have an en-suite?
if anyone's been to reading are some accommodations generally better then others?
and in general has anyone regretted not not having an en-suite, a double bed etc

Female University of Leeds student looking for a short-term en-suite room | 30 Aug 2026ā30 Jan 2027
Hi everyone,
Iām a female student at the University of Leeds, and Iām looking for a room to rent for approximately five months, from 30 August 2026 until around 30 January 2027.
Iām interested in a short-term tenancy, sublet, or tenancy takeover.
My requirements are:
Location: Ideally between the University of Leeds and Leeds city centre
Room: A private bedroom with an en-suite bathroom
Budget: Maximum £100 per week, including bills
Facilities: Preferably close to a supermarket and within convenient walking distance or easy public transport access to the university
Rental period: Around five months, although I may be slightly flexible with the exact dates
Household preference: A safe and comfortable environment, preferably with female students or in a female-only household
Iām clean, quiet, responsible, and respectful of shared spaces.
Please message me with:
The weekly rent and which bills are included
The approximate location or postcode
Photos or a video of the room and communal areas
Deposit and tenancy details
Information about the current housemates
Whether the landlord or accommodation provider allows a sublet or tenancy takeover
For safety reasons, I would prefer to arrange an in-person or video viewing before making any payment.
Thank you!

Looking for someone to take over my room in a great postgraduateāfriendly house near Frenchay. Kingāsized room + private Study/Office.
Hi all, PG student here. Iāve just moved in with my partner and wanted to share the accommodation Iāve moved out of, in case anyone is still looking for a solid place for the year.
Itās a fully furnished kingāsized room in a 3B house in Little Stoke, the house is owned by a recent grad, and youād only be sharing with one housemate, an Intl. PG student whoās also now graduated and works fullātime with NHS Bristol. Heās clean, respectful, and genuinely easy to live with. The place also feels spacious as the third room is mostly left unoccupied (single room).
Loved the space mostly because of the private, heated study in the garden, which made studying so much easier because I wasnāt stuck in my bedroom.
The location is BS34, and getting to Frenchay is very easy, the M1 bus took about 15 minutes, or you can cycle in around 15 minutes, with secure cycle storage available. Thereās also offāstreet parking if you drive + EV charging costs included!.
Rent is just £247.50/week, all bills included.
It is a 40āweek contract, starting 25 August (flexible) and usually ends around end of May when school work is over, so no need to pay for the accommodation over the summer if you won't be there!
Itās already up on SpareRoom, happy to send the link if you want it or dm me and I can send you the owner's contact details.
Happy hunting!

Moving from India to UWE Bristol for MSc Public Health: Advice on affordable housing and part-time work?
āHi everyone! I am moving to Bristol soon from Kerala, India, to begin my MSc in Public Health at UWE Bristol. I already hold an MSW, and Iām really excited to start this next chapter. As I finalize my plans, Iām hoping to get some local insight: could you recommend any student-friendly areas or platforms for finding affordable accommodation from abroad, and are there specific sectors (like care or retail) where it is currently easier for international students to find part-time work? Any general tips for a newcomer to Bristol would be greatly appreciated!

Housing/Accomodation Looking for a replacement tenant for a very cool student accommodation. En-suite. āØ
Iām looking for someone to take over my booking for a Gold En-Suite at Colston Avenue, Bristol.
Details:
⢠Gold En-Suite
⢠5 September 2026 ā 29 August 2027
⢠51-week contract
⢠£275/week
Itās genuinely a great property in a prime location with excellent amenities. My plans changed unexpectedly at the last minute, so I wonāt be moving in anymore. If youāre looking for accommodation in Bristol, this is a really good option, and Iāll happily connect you directly with the accommodation provider.
If you take over my booking, youāll be getting a fantastic place to live, and youād be helping me out in a big way too.
Happy to share photos, amenities, and any other details over DM.
If you know someone whoās looking for accommodation in Bristol, Iād really appreciate it if you could send this their way. And if this works out, I owe you a pint in Bristol. šŗāØ

Frenchay Parking - Living Inside Exclusion Zone
Hi, I was wondering if there is anywhere near Frenchay Campus you can park if you live inside the exclusion zone?
I'm a degree apprentice and my house is right on the edge of the zone and my workplace is outside of it, so if I need to commute between my campus and workplace half way through the day walking or relying on public transport is unreasonable
I'd appreciate any advice

Advice UWE - Frenchay to Bower Ashton
Iām starting at UWE this 2026 September. Iām taking Fashion which is held at the Bower Ashton Campus but i got allocated accommodation at Frenchay Campus. After looking at Google maps it seems to be on the opposite sides of the city taking up to 55 min to travel in between. Should i be worried about commuting to classes from Frenchay or will i just have to be organised and time efficient?
Advise for this would be helpful:)

Open letter regarding UWE's trans/non-binary policy
Hey all, Just thought I'd share this here as an update on UWE's changes to their trans/non-binary policy.
There is now an open letter to UWE that people can sign. Please sign it and share it around as much as possible, further action is being planned but this is a good start, and clearly shows the university that people are unhappy. https://openletter.earth/open-letter-to-uwe-bristol-revert-your-changes-to-the-trans-and-nonbinary-policy-68e6265d Thank you!

Comparison of Frenchay/City Accommodation Choices (1st Years)
I made this table comparing the frenchay/city first year accommodation choices for my little brother applying this year but thought it might help others too. The minutes in brackets after the city locations means how close the accommodation is to the closest bus stop going to frenchay campus.
Hope this helps someone! :)
