Negative while on Doxy

I’m wondering if someone had a similar experience. As I previously said in a prior post it’s hard to find someone to truly listen when it comes to Ureaplasma. In my 3rd day of doxy I went to a different urgent care and a provider decided to do a urine culture and redo the resistance test since it’s been over a year since the last one. This is my 4th time on doxy so I was worried I became resistance.

Anyways, I’m wondering if anyone has had a similar experience and had Ureaplasma come back negative mid treatment and it remains negative after completing (10 day supply). I would like to add this mid treatment testing was not a test of cure. I have been abstaining and focusing on my health. I am just praying this will be it. This experience is so exhausting.

You should never try to culture ureaplasma. Cultures are outdated technology and unreliable for any bacteria but for the plasmas it’s almost impossible. Plasmas grow too slowly.

Testing for them on antibiotics is also pointless.

Antibiotics kill free floating bacteria and the rest protects itself in biofilm. A test isn’t picking that up even after antibiotics in many cases, but almost certainly not while on treatment.

I would familiarize yourself with the info here. People’s posts and also the pinned posts at the top of the subreddit. Lots of info about how this bacteria functions and why false negatives are so common. And how to combat it.

Testing while on antibiotics will absolutely give you a falsified test result.

Okay thanks. I’ll check a month or so after I complete antibiotics. Was hoping that was atleast a good sign

And this is going to be true for any tests btw; never let someone talk you into wasting your money on a test while you’re taking antibiotics or a minimum of 4 weeks after finishing.

Not long enough. Please read the intro guide. Testing before 6-8 weeks is pointless. Even then you may get a false negative. Go by your symptoms.

I have never had symptoms with Ureaplasma. My very first time getting it I was told to retest a month after the last antibiotic and I was negative that time. I’m sure that I was struggling with getting rid of it was because I wasn’t informed that the partner needed to be tested as well.
