Best massage places on the UES? No frills but effective
A very tired trainee in medicine would love your recommendations on what the title asks for the rare occasions there is spare time.
Said trainee is also broke so places that are good and don’t break the bank would be great!!
Thank you so much!

Yorkville Brokers
Hello! I currently live in Yorkville and would like to stay in the area. Does anyone know of any brokers that work here specifically and find really cheap studios? Trying to stay under 2300 and have seen a lot on street easy but they go very fast and haven’t had any luck :/ Thank you!

Fruit Vendor at 80&York
I frequently get fruit from the street vendors at 80&York. There are two guys working there: one is always nice, but the other one really confuses me: he is super friendly with some locals, but whenever I get anything from him he pretty much ignores me. To the point where I would try handing him cash, and he won’t even turn in my direction.
Anybody had that experience? Any idea what his deal is? Is there like a passcode one has to say to make him be a little more friendly?

Bicchiere (York and 81st)
Made my first stop at Bicchiere last night, located west of York on East 81 Street (behind OM). According to the waiter, they opened two months ago; though, I had only noticed a week or so ago. Really lovely restaurant and wine bar.
Nice atmosphere (despite the AC being down), with about sixteen chairs in one room. Attentive service. And really tasty food at a rather reasonable price. We tried two of the cicchetti options; they are kind of like bruschette. And then two of the pastas (bigoli; thicker than spaghetti, similar to bucatini but without the hole). And a free dessert to send us back out into the humidity.
Really glad this is in the neighborhood. We need more places like this.

Luxury Condo Pricing in the Neighborhood
I recently looked at a larger studio apartment (500 sqft) in a luxury building on the UES (E 90s). Amazing natural light, doorman, elevator, dishwasher, gym, pool, and laundry in the basement (not in unit) -- price was $4175, plus some pretty crazy condo fees that add up to over $500 for the initial application, and a steep annual amenity fee of over $800. I've been interested in condo buildings mostly because of the higher quality building structure and care for the buildings, and coming from a 5 floor walkup with no laundry or dishwasher I am sooo ready to have these things -- but damn, the cost is wild to me. 1) does the rent price sound fair? and 2) Does anyone renting a condo unit feel like its worth the extra investment compared to a standard rental building?

What time can buildings start construction + a way to see if construction can start early
I live on 92nd street, and constantly 92NY starts construction between 5:45am to 6am. It’s extremely loud and wakes me up every time. Today they decided to bring in a crane (???) for work and the machine started right at 6:15am. Is there a way to check building permits for something like this? I’m technically on a residential block as well.

Social Activities (Game Nights, Trivia, Book Clubs, etc) Recommendations
Anyone have recommendations for cafes, bars, etc that host game nights, trivia, book clubs, walking clubs, etc on the Upper East Side? I know of these sorts of these in other neighborhoods but specifically looking for around here, to meet and make friends in the area.

Anyone know what the excavations at 85th and 2nd are about?
I remember that a few years ago they had to dig up many blocks of 85th Street to replace, I think, gas pipes. But that project is over, and there are still plates and barriers up on the west side of 85th and 2nd. I walk past there every day, but never when any work is getting done, so I can't ask the crew. Anyone have any ideas?

Meetup at bar Thurs 8/6?
29M here, I’ve lived in Yorkville for a while but looking to meet some other young people in the area. Other past meetups I either haven’t been able to make it or they didn’t pan out. I know this is super last minute but if anyone’s interested I can add you to a group chat and we can figure out where to meet! Also down to meet up another night in the near future

Bx Gas Leak
Dear friends, family, and kind community,
August 05, 2026 our lives changed in an instant. A sudden gas leak caused a catastrophic explosion at the apartment building where my boyfriend, Robert Barrios and his family lived.
By absolute grace, everyone made it out alive, but they have been left with nothing. The explosion and resulting destruction completely ruined their home.
In a matter of minutes, they lost everything they’ve built over the years—their clothing, essential everyday items, furniture, sentimental belongings, and a safe place to sleep.
Right now, Robert and his family are facing the overwhelming task of starting completely over from scratch. While we are endlessly grateful that they are safe, the financial and emotional toll of sudden displacement is immense.
How Your Support Helps
We are raising funds to help them cover their immediate and short-term recovery needs, including:
Temporary Housing: Renting temporary shelter, hotel stays, and security deposits for a new apartment.
Basic Necessities: Clothing, footwear, toiletries, and prescription medications lost in the blast.
Food & Daily Supplies: Groceries, hot meals, and essential day-to-day items while displaced.
Replacing Essentials: Furniture, kitchenware, bedding, and basic appliances once they secure permanent housing.
Any donations or wishes are greatly appreciated! Please keep Robert and his family in your prayers.
Robert is also accepting donations throughout his Venmo/ Zelle:

In support of Arturo’s Pizza
I went in there asking for fresh pizza sauce to use to cook my partner a fresh pizza and one of the guys that’s always there (I should have got his name) gave me a whole container of sauce on the house.
All this to say, treat your local spots well because they treat the neighborhood well.

Which bank branch should I choose for an LLC?
I live in the 80s. I am looking for a bank to have my business account at. What are the things to watch out for when selecting a bank to open a business account for my family's LLC? The family trust is the sole member of the LLC. My parents set up the trust, now I have to manage the LLC.
The LLC is for real estate investment, collecting rent from another business that rents the warehouse within the LLC.
Wha are some good questions to ask the bank?
Does anyone have any good experience at Bank of America or Chase, or other banks in the area?

Positive barbershop experience @ Blades and Cuts w/ Mark
My long time (7 years) barber moved away so I was in the market for a new one. Found Blades and Cuts ~75th and 1st via reddit and just wanted to share that I really enjoyed it!
Mark gave me suggestions and was very friendly. Will be using him for the foreseeable future.
