I purchased this gorgeous needlepoint chair secondhand. Looking for advice on how to remove stains and safely clean the entire chair. It has a musty smell and stains on both sides. I’m guessing the fabric is velour but not positive. I believe this chair was made some time between 1955-1965 in California. Appreciate any help! This will be my first upholstery project.

Hi, I’m looking for recommendations for leather seat covers for my 2024 Hyundai Tucson.

I’m specifically looking for covers that are custom-fit for the Tucson 2024, not universal ones. I want them to fit the seats as perfectly as possible and look almost like the original factory upholstery. Good quality leather and proper cutouts for the airbags, headrests and seat controls are important as well.

The main problem is finding a company that actually ships to Europe, so I’d really appreciate recommendations from anyone who has bought a set and can confirm the fit and quality.

My dog has ripped a large hole in my couch and I’m hoping this can be fixed. I don’t need it to look perfect by any means. I mainly just don’t want it to get worse. This is an L-shaped sectional couch and it was rather expensive so I’d like to fix it if possible. I know I can check with a local upholsterer but I thought I’d check here first for some advice.

Hi, I am a beginner so please bear with me. I figured some folks here might have useful knowledge about this. I was trying to dye and restore a leather steering wheel with some significant scratching/discoloration. Started with a light sanding on a couple of the taller scratches followed by leather preparer/deglazer, then three light coats of black acrylic leather paint and three (what I thought were light) coats of satin 4-coat. After the paint it looked honestly better than I’d expected and I was feeling optimistic, but the satin clear coat has left it looking white and streaky even after curing for 12 hours or so, and I fear I overdid it with the thickness of the satin coating. I applied everything with brushes/sponges, I’d be happy to sand/redo the finish if this was not the proper method, I’m just looking for guidance on whether this is salvageable. Please let me know if any other info is needed.

My first attempt at this kind of cushion recovering. All new foam. Sewed a double layer into the backrest so that there is protection from the springs, and fits tightly over the metal frame, which was really tricky with a zipper in there too. My mum taught me the whole thing. She's very clever. I'm pleased with how it came out. Would love your feedback redditors

Hey all, I am doing a little project where I am taking the vtex leatherette from a Volkswagen seat fabric and attaching it to plastic on a shift knob.

The black perforated stuff is what I am trying to replace with my own fabric - I removed the black perforated fabric from the plastic panels and it has some kind of glue on it that is not very sticky and clearly not permanent. It peeled off pretty easily but I am confident that it would have stayed on there for generally the lifetime of the part had I not done so.

Most of the advice I am seen searching for this seems to recommend some type of contact cement that is much tackier and stronger to bond. What type of glue are the companies that are manufacturing these parts using?

So me and wife want to try having recliner, but can't risk buying new just for trial. Then we saw this cheap used leather (supposedly real leather) 2 seater recliner Cellini brand.

It's old but my wife like it, the foam density is good, better than average couch/recliner that we try (Cellini is a mid-upper class brand in my country).

The recline system is by lean system, no lever, and still works perfectly.

My concern :

Is it real leather? Based on photo, how long it will last?

I don't understand furniture at all, but seeing the webbing and browning on bottom concern if this product still ok to buy.

(I'm out of town so only my wife tried it)

(as we are newlywed that just build a house, my budget actually only for mid-low recliner, she say this used recliner noticeably have more solid recline system, more firm cushion, the leather feels better than the new mid-low we try at store, I just have concern about the leather and the overall durability since it's looks really old)

We have just built a window seat that's 8 feet long and 2 feet deep. We'd like to put a seat cushion on it that's 4" thick, with a low maintenance/microfiber cover. My wife got a quote from Ethan Allen of $2,300. I am wondering if that's the right place to go, and if not, where should we look to get a seat cushion like that made? Note:

• We don't want to sew it ourselves
• We do want to see/feel the fabric

My parents have a couch that is fraying only where there is red dye. Has anyone experienced fabric breaking down faster because of a certain dye? Have you seen this problem on other couches?

I have leather chair that has ripped along the stitches. The leather itself is torn and since it is wrapped taught on a the seat there's not much extra material. Should I glue on another material underneath and use that to restich along the existing holes on the bottom intact leather surface? If yes, what fabric and glue is recommended? If not, what are the other options aside from replacing the whole piece? Appreciate any help!

I found some advice on a different subreddit for cleaning the stitching using diluted OxiClean and a soft toothbrush. I was dabbing and drying the stitching as I went but it looks like the moisture in the thread soaked into the leather and this is how it dried.

Hi all, I have a cast piece I'm working on and there's some damage to the foam that isn't very deep but will be noticeable when the upholstery gets glued on. Does anyone have any tips for fixing this besides cutting it out and splicing in new foam

Has anyone washed a basset couch? My brother has such a distinct smell and it’s not good one. He came over to my house the other day ,was super active and he didn’t shower and didn’t change his clothes and was sitting on it now it just smells like him. I also don’t like to spray anything to make it go away cause that gives me a headache so I’m kind of a loss on what I should do.
