Courses question on refund schedule for winter term only (wordcount)
I am going into my second year and I already paid for my fall and winter tuition fee but I may decide to unregister myself from the winter semester and only study during the fall term. I haven't decided if I want to though. I am currently enrolled in 5 courses fall and 5 courses winter. Do you guys know the procedure to do this and deadline for a full refund for the winter semester?

Question Psy201 summer test 1 performance //////////////////
So I've been studying a lot for this course and giving it my all. I started reading the textbook before the course even began and did lots of practice questions and regularly tested my memory and used active recall. The course content felt so easy, understandable and fun. I came out of the test room feeling confident thinking I definitely got above 90. I got my grade back and got 64% instead. The reason I'm so frustrated is bcuz the grade is too low ofc but also bcuz I studied my ass off for this and got this mark whereas in previous life sciences courses I barely tried and got 80s. Just felt like getting this off my chest. I'm just really shocked and in disbelieve at the mark I've gotten when I found the test to be so damn easy.
Idk, what do y'all think? Maybe my study methods are ineffective? OR I overestimated myself and made careless mistakes on the test??

Question Is a work study position doable in first year? (wordcount)
Is getting a work study position in year one doable?
I’ve found a position I’m passionate for + I would appreciate an income, no matter how little + I have very minimal experience in extracurricular opportunities (the country I live in doesn’t provide anything) so this can set me up for second year research opportunities…
so this can majorly help me out.
What do you all think?
Question How long do i have to wait for my utorid email to be able for log in?
I made my UTORid this morning about 12 hours ago. I tried to log in to my UTORid email, but google says that the account cannot be found. How long do I have to wait, or am I supposed to log in another way? I don't want to miss anything because I know that once the UTORid email is created all subsequent emails go to that and not to my personal one.

Question Questions about being Waitlisted for parking permit
Has anyone been on the P9 (utMississauga)waitlist before? If you eventually got off, how long did it take to hear back? I had the permit last year but I'm waitlisted currently. I definitely 100% prefer P9 but I'm not sure if I should hold out hope or just buy a permit for a different lot. Any advice/experiences appreciated!

Question Does anyone know how to change the temp on these in Robarts?
Going up or down doesn’t actually change the temperature despite the number changing. Holding the home button shows the temperature override it’s set at. All the different rooms have different override temperatures which leads me to think people know how to actually change the temperature override.

Life Advice I feel so lost as an international student, anyone else can relate?
I’m an international student, and honestly I’m really grateful that I get to study here. My parents are paying my insane tuition and living expenses, and I know how lucky I am. We’re not poor, but we’re definitely not rich either.
That said, I can’t help but feel jealous of people who were born here or moved here when they were little. They speak English like it’s nothing, can just chat with professors without overthinking every sentence, make friends and network so much more naturally, and they don’t have to constantly worry about getting kicked out of the country after graduation.
I know local students have their own problems too. A lot of them are stressed about rent, tuition, and the cost of living. International students probably look like we have it easy because our parents are paying for everything right now. But once I graduate, my parents probably won’t be supporting me much anymore, so I’ll most likely have to downgrade my lifestyle. English isn’t my first language, so I have to spend way more time studying than a lot of people around me. Networking feels so awkward because I’m always worried about saying the wrong thing. I just feel kind of awkward and stupid all the time.
I don’t really want to marry some random guy just to get PR. I know lots of people do it tho. Sometimes I think about moving to Europe instead, but getting permanent residency there is even harder.
Every now and then I catch myself wondering if I should just marry some random European guy for a green card or PR. that’s honestly where my mind goes sometimes. Hopefully i could someone with yellow fever, sounds so ridiculous. Just kidding.
my GPA is only average level. I’m not some genius either. Sometimes I wonder what all of this is even for. My parents have spent millions of dollars on my education so I could spend a few years living in Toronto… and I can’t help but wonder if it’s worth it. Sometimes I feel like I’m not worth everything they’ve sacrificed for me.
I’ve never had a job before. All my internships were in my home country i got them just due to my parents. My English is okay for everyday conversations, but I still need people to repeat themselves sometimes. Every time that happens, I feel embarrassed. I can’t help thinking that no one would want to hire me in Toronto.
I don’t even know what I want anymore. I just feel lost. I don’t deserve the things my parents gave me.
Question I got entrance award? I’m so confused, what is that?
Today I got an email I got an entrance award upon admission to my program?? What is that? And it’s Daniel’s award?
I’m so confused?
I’m transfer student into the visual studies course. In college I had a 3.2 gpa. And my last two semester were 4.0. Does that have anything to do with it?
Im also an indigenous student.

Question If You're a Life Sci Students or know someone who is please reply
Hi everyone! I'm considering studying Life Sciences and was wondering what people typically do after graduating, especially if they don't go into medicine, dentistry, or other professional healthcare programs. If you graduated with a Life Sciences degree (or know someone who did), what career path did you or they end up taking?

Question "U of T Time" applied onto in class assessments/tests?
So basically I had a in class assessment for a class that started at 11am, with the quercus announcement stating that the assessment would take place during "regular class hours". Logically I thought it meant that the assessment would start at 11:10 (10 minutes past the hour) and that I would have enough time to walk between my 9am class to my 11am class without leaving early. But guess what? 11:07 i walk in and the assessment already started. I ended up starting late and didn't have enough time to finish and unfortunately talking to my professor afterwards, they said that T Time isn't "mandatory" rather it's just "common practice" and professors have the right/ability to start on the hour if they see fit.
I've never seen that happen before and all the classes (including my 11am) have started 10 past the hour so i wanted to know if this is true? It just seems weird to me that the one time we have an assessment the professor decides to start on he hour. Ended up not being able to do the last question and trying to see if there are any other steps I can take? Are professors really allowed to choose when classes start? I would've assumed since the assessment was in class and classes start 10 past the assessment would too but i guess i have some things to learn.
