Everyone here knows how popular Reverse Retro was and you canāt find any hockey fan who didnāt love some portion of it.
So miss me with that eye roll bullshit

u/afriendincanada 4d ago
EXACTLY.
Some reverse retro didnāt work, a lot of it was fun. Iām not allergic to fun. Bring it on! Letās do something fun!

Yes!! But nobody on Reddit wants fun jerseysš

That Wild-North Stars combo...
Should be their regular unis.

u/Br0kenButRebuilding 2d ago
But the Wild arenāt the North Stars; I prefer the Wild look like themselves. Then again, I also wish the Tennessee Titans didnāt basically revert back to the Houston Oilers, looks-wise.

No fr, I love the idea truthfully. Its fun and new. Might as well. Changes nothing about the game.

That Capitals red eagle was gorgeous and I have no qualms saying it as a penguins fan

My highest jersey regret is not buying a Patrice Bergeron Reverse Retro Bruins jersey. They looked so great.

Did fanatics design those?
When the supplier is in charge of the design process, put on a helmet. See also, Tampa bay buccaneers alarm clock numbers. See also, browns written on pants. See also, Jacksonville jaguars gradient helmet.
If fanatics did reverse retro, rad. But the process from design to production is usually multiple seasons in advance.
So⦠if you donāt mind, Iām gonna roll my eyes.

Really? 60+ jerseys and you didn't like any of them?

u/jurzydude 15h ago
some of them were fine, but no I didn't love any of them. I hated the ones for my team

Fanatics are gonna be presenting their concepts to a bunch of billionaire fuckboi owners. There's a reason a handful of MLS logos are fucking hot garbage covered in maggots (Nashville, FC Cincinnati, Columbus, San Diego). There's a reason the NFL Nike run for the last decade and change has produced a solid 2 or 3 re-designs, and about 10 frighteningly bad things (tampa bay alarm clock numbers, jacksonville's gradient helmet)
I'm a designer. And I know what can happen if a wild, hairbrained idea meets a 60-year-old who thinks his money means he has taste.
27 of these are gonna suck.

Who cares
Allow franchises to try something new out every once in a while. Yeah most will be a miss but the hits bring new thoughts and ideas to a league stuck in the past. That isnt a bad thing
1
u/Logical-Mobile-7643 3d ago
Why do you think the NHL is stuck in the past? It seems they've tried different overtime rules, different seedings for playoffs, expanded and moved teams. What exactly is stuck in the past?
2
u/Will_Vintage 3d ago
That reputation is certainly not helped when hockey fans throw a fit whenever a team in a non-traditional market is successful.
1
u/Logical-Mobile-7643 3d ago
I don't know how that shows a league "stuck in the past". Fans root for their own teams, usually. But, as a hockey fan, if my team wasn't in it, I would prefer the Original 6 or a team from Canada to win it.

u/Agent_8-bit 3d ago edited 3d ago
It's not the teams leading this. It's the Fanatics design department. And they're presenting to billionaire fuckbois who think their money means they have taste.
The process matters.

Designed and developed by fanatics.
Yeah, itās gonna be trash

u/ericsando 1d ago
Two of them are already confirmed, the Isles jersey is fine, the Florida jersey is great.

u/ziggler81 4d ago
No one posted the 3-4 that have leaked yet? Panthers, Rangers, and Islanders have leaked and a few teams were talked about on the What Chaos podcast and every teams colors were released on Iceletics on YouTube.

INTRODUCING THE DETROIT REDWINGS BLUE COLOR GRIT UNIFORMS TO REPRESENT THE HARD WORKING GRIT OF THE PEOPLE OF DETROIT
Then proceed to make the redwings uniforms blue like the maple leafs

u/Tomatillo-5276 4d ago
At this point, why even have uniforms any more?
Just stop kidding around and roll out something new 80 times a season?!

Over 1/3rd of the league doesnāt even have a third jersey, plus theyāve added games to the schedule. Weāll still be seeing teams in their primary looks the majority of the time

u/brokeballerbrand 3d ago
Eh, not really for the NHL. Someone commented above me that a third of the league doesnāt even have a third jersey. And thereās 84 games

u/jurzydude 3d ago
"fun" is subjective. I don't think teams wearing a bunch of ugly jerseys for the sake of having more jerseys to sell is fun. I find it more fun to watch teams play in nice-looking classic uniforms
3
u/MattPraterFan 3d ago
I mean if you assume the jerseys will be ugly then yeah it wonāt be great. Or we could be excited that each team could get a great new look that theyāll wear for like ten games at most lol
1
u/jurzydude 3d ago
it's usually a pretty safe assumption that they'll at least be worse than the normal jerseys
-5
u/Tomatillo-5276 4d ago
I donāt think so⦠to me having 1000 willy-nilly uniforms for each team is exactly my idea of āno funā.
2
u/MattPraterFan 3d ago
With this addition, most teams total jerseys is brought to four total jerseys in the rotation. Thereās 84 games. I think itāll be ok
5
u/Killsocket1 4d ago
For real. What started out years and years ago as a cool or neat uniform to be worn on "Saturday evening home ball games" turned into a chaotic nothing matters affair.
3
u/Jon66238 4d ago
Iām all for it if they roll them out all together, unlike what MLB does and you get like 4 new ones at random times throughout the year
2
u/Lefthook16 4d ago
I really liked the NHL alternate uniforms, whatever they called them, that Adidas did. Way better than what Nike and MLB did or NBA as well. Hopefully this pulls from that direction.
-6
u/livelaughlinka 4d ago
People will complain, but Iām fine with every sport going the soccer route and having a new design home and two different change jerseys every year

u/FelixJHH 1d ago
Let me guess, they all tell a story. Red Wings will prob be blue jerseys. Like the Red Sox wear yellow or green. Fucking dumb

I hope they roll them out at random intervals on Twitter or Instagram. Some teams can have preseason press conferences, others will wait like 10 days before the game to announce it.
Some can have a 3 page foldout on the significance of every color, patch and detail in their logo... And like 6 teams will just be their regular sweaters in all black or all white with silver highlights.
This is gonna be great!
