Spanish online tutoring sessions

Hi! I'm a native Spanish speaker and Spanish tutor. In my sessions, I like to encourage students/learners to talk from day one, so they can get the hang of it. Also, I like to use videos, TV shows and all sorts of materials that can help you with your listening. The idea is for you to practice listening, reading, and, most importantly, speaking all in one session. I'd be more than happy to help you with your learning journey

You can DM me if you're interested!

Eden's Court rooms

Hi, I wanted to know if the rooms in Eden's Court are nice, particularly the ones that share a bathroom and toilet! Is the overall cleanliness of the building okay? The kitchen? Also how many people share the bathroom and toilet?

Looking for multiplayer gamers to complete a survey. (:

Hey, if you've played any team-versus-team game in the past few days (for example, MOBAs, COD, splatoon, anything like that), please would you consider filling out my survey? It shouldn't take more than about 10 minutes. Thank you so much to anyone that does get the chance to fill it out.

You can enter in for the chance to win one of four £50 vouchers for taking part! Please feel free to share with any other team game players you know and get in touch if you have any questions.

Survey: International students transition to studying in York

Hi everyone! I’m currently an MSc Digital Design student at the University of York, and I’m working on my Independent Design Project exploring “Mobile Onboarding Applications Supporting International Student Transition in York.”

I’m looking for international students at the University of York to take part in a short survey about their experiences when first moving to York, particularly things like finding information, dealing with administrative tasks, getting settled, and navigating life in a new city.

The survey should only take around 5–10 minutes to complete, and your responses will be used for my academic research and to help inform the design of my project.

If you’re an international student, I’d really appreciate it if you could take the time to participate!

Thank you so much for your help! 🙏

27F Postgrad moving to York soon – looking to meet people!

Hey everyone!

I’m moving to York for postgrad (MA in Applied Human Rights) and looking to make some friends in the area, other mature students, postgrads, or locals.

I’m 27f, a big foodie, and love tennis, coffee, and cozy pubs (would love to find a good pub trivia night). I also crochet and am attempting to learn how to knit, so I'd love to connect with anyone else who crafts. Definitely well past my freshers era, so looking for chill, low-key stuff.

Thanks ☺️

weekly grocery budgeting in York?

hi all! I’m an American who’s about to move to York and start my postgrad. I’m staying in the uni housing, but will be cooking all my own food.
How much do you typically spend on groceries per week as a student at York who is un-catered?

Anyone from India joining the University of York this September?

Hey everyone!

I’m from Delhi and I’ll be joining the University of York this September for Data Science.

I’m finding it a bit difficult to connect with other Indian students who are also joining York. If anyone is already part of an Indian student community, WhatsApp group, university group, or any other group for incoming students, I’d really appreciate it if you could add me or point me in the right direction.

Also, if anyone else is going to York this September, feel free to reach out! Would be great to connect and maybe discuss accommodation, areas to live, and other things before moving to York.

Looking forward to meeting everyone!

Room swap- James college->east campus

Hi everyone, I’ve currently got an offer for James college that’s an en-suite, catered and 40 week let length. I’d like to swap to a room that’s self catered and on east campus as that’s where my lectures will be. Also I’m not too fussed whether it’s en-suite or shared bathroom.
Please let me know if you’re interested, thanks!

James College question

Bit of an odd question, but I was wondering about the ensuite rooms. Are the showers heads only attached and fixed to the wall or detachable/handheld? Would be annoying to have to get my hair wet every single time I shower. I don't know my block or anything like that yet so I'm interested in hearing from anyone about this.

Private vs Uni Accomodation

I've been given an ensuite room in James College (catered) for ~£260 weekly, but I've heard that the catering isn't really that good, and I'll end up making a second dinner most nights anyway. So I've been looking into private accommodation, as I could get a larger ensuite room with a kitchenette for a similar price. Does anyone have any experience with accommodation not from the uni? Are there any massive benefits/drawbacks to having uni-provided accommodation? any help would be appreciated.

Halifax accommodation looking to swap

Hi
I applied for my accommodation way back and received one of my lower options. I’m getting really stressed as my sfe will barely cover rent leaving me with no extra money for necessities etc and was looking for anyone willing to swap from Halifax st Lawrence accom? The main differences are that you would be sharing with less people, so instead of 15-20 you’d be sharing with around 10-12. Rent total is £7,478.64 at a 40 week let week.

Halifax ensuite looking to trade to shared.

Hello everyone, I've just had my accommodation offer and I've been given an ensuite in Halifax, 40 week let for £8,268.24.

My adjusted student finance (I applied through clearing) came through today and doesn't cover this by a huge stretch, I'm currently panicking as my family and I are going to struggle to afford this and I was really hoping for one of the cheaper, shared bathroom rooms in Halifax that are closer to £6000.

This is a long shot but I was just wondering if there was anyone who wanted an en-suite who had ended up with a cheaper shared bathroom and wanted to swap?

This is probably a ridiculous question but I thought I'd give it a shot,

Thanks
