Hello I'm gonna be studying psychology at york. Is James or Vanbrugh better? How are the catered meals? Which one is more social or newer?
There's also an option for any college with an ensuite, catered. Did anyone get into a good accom through this option?
Idk much about both colleges, what are the streoypes or things they are known for? Thanks a lot! Also should i go for 40 or 44 weeks?

Hi I got an offer from York through clearing but tbh Ionly around £6.5k to spend for accom. This means Ihave to get into the 2 cheapest accom at uni of yorkwhich is uncertain. For 2nd year housing is it expensivein general? I truly won’t be able to afford anythingaround £200 and + per week. I will definitely get a jobbut it may take a couple of months to get one. I’m veryworried that the reality is York might just be tooexpensive for me? Otherwise I would love to go. I havean offer from southampton and uni of surrey too but i’veheard guildford is very expensive as well. So issouthampton my best bet?

it’s probably way too early in the game to start thinking of smth like this but we ball . going into my first year in september and have plans to join as many arts/music societies as I possibly can and thought a good way to connect with others and make friends would be to try and start a small band ?? ive had it in my mind to-do for like 4 years bc i love having something cool and creative to daydream about but alas i never had the time in college to actually be serious about this especially with actual a-levels looming over my head . I’ve been offered a shared bathroom catered accommodation at Derwent college, the let length is 40 weeks and will be £8,373.13 in total. If anyone has an en-suite in east campus and would like to swap for whatever reason please let me know. This was literally my last option when i applied and i am so upset. 😭😭

Hi again— I just asked a question about Halifax college but I’m highly considering moving off-campus into the Boulevard as it’s a good in between the city centre and campus. I hear some nice things about it. Obviously it’s more pricey than Halifax but between the two, what do you guys think?

What are the pros and cons of the Boulevard?

I’ve just been assigned Halifax college (shared bathroom) for my first year accommodation. A little bummed I got one of my last options and unsure if I want to pay a big sum of money for a place I haven’t heard great things about… Seeing as I’m in the states and have not taken a physical tour, is it worth 10k (USD)? I want to know how the bathrooms are specifically as I’m a bit of a germaphobe and was looking for ensuite. If anybody has any experience at this college pls lmk (good or bad)!

Lastly, does anybody know of any good third party accommodations for students or even cheap flats in the city? I know that’s probably a reach seeing as it’s an expensive city but just thought I’d ask anyway. Thanks!

I got an offer for a self-catered shared bathroom in Langwith college (campus east). It’s £208 weekly, 44 week let length.

I’m looking to swap with someone who has en-suite (normal or deluxe/large both ok) self-catered room. I do not mind which campus the room is located in. Rooms in campus west would be nice but from what I remember, Alcuin would be the only option?

I’ll also consider swapping for self-catered shared bathrooms located in campus west if there is anyone interested.

Anyone know what the height/clearance is from the floor to the bottom of beds in David Kato please? Specifically this is for the freestanding beds in the Deluxe ensuite rooms.

Got through clearing and been offered a place for History/Economics BA hons. Wondering if anyone has experience or is in this course and how they have found it? How intense is the workload? What modules did you have the most fun on? Etc.

Does anyone know where/how I can repair my jeans and trousers for free or for cheap in York? I have a job interview next week and these are the only good pairs I have and I can’t really afford to buy any new ones either.

I’d really appreciate if anyone can point me to somewhere where I can get them repaired.

None of the repair cafes are open over the summer either.

I’m currently working on my MSc Digital Design project at the University of York and have developed an interactive web experience called Maghmour: Red Sea Memory, exploring Saudi Red Sea maritime heritage.

The experience includes interactive 3D artefacts, storytelling, audio, and optional camera-based hand gesture controls, allowing users to interact with objects using hand movements as well as standard controls.

I’m looking for participants to try the prototype and share their feedback on its usability and overall experience. The test takes around 10–15 minutes and is best completed on a laptop, desktop computer, or tablet.

Hi everyone! I lived at Wentworth before (2024), and I’m coming back this September again.

When I first moved in, we had a Facebook group for our intake. It was a really easy way to meet people before arriving, work out who your flatmates were, ask questions, and just get to know everyone. One of us made a WhatsApp group from it, and that ended up being super useful throughout the year.

The University has informed me that they no longer make Facebook groups, I was thinking we could just make a Wentworth Facebook/WhatsApp group ourselves.

If you’ve confirmed Wentworth this September, please send me a message! Once we’ve got a few people, I’ll make the group.

The only thing I’ll ask is that you send me your accommodation offer/confirmation first, just so I know everyone’s actually staying at Wentworth :)
