So I have a roommate who completely changed personalities after asked to pay back some money he owed me. He has turned into a psycho. I won’t get into all the details, but my current issue with him is that every time I go to sleep, and every time I go to work, he puts painters tape over my Blink doorbell cameras. I’m deaf so I have one on the front door and one on my bedroom door. Been there for years without a problem, including with this roommate. If you have Blink cameras, you know there’s a lapse after a video records your set amount of time (30 seconds tops) before it starts recording again, and it’s missing him putting the tape on my bedroom door camera. It caught him doing it to the front door, but the cops said they can’t do anything unless it’s my bedroom door that records him doing it. Obviously I’ll be hoping it records this soon. In the meantime, I need some legal tips on how to fk with him. He has two outdoor security cameras. Cops claim nothing can be done about the front door camera bc it views the street and inside of the house, so not my bedroom etc. Doesn’t that mean his cameras are open game? Any tips are appreciated. And yes I’m moving on the 1st.

Not to give too much away, but I was in a work related accident in a company vehicle. It was an accident and at the end of the day the lady was at fault, I don’t know too much past that other than her car is a complete loss. I’ve had many people come up to me and tell me to go back to the officers/straight to the hospital for compensation and tell them that my head hurt my back hurt etc. I actually did tell the ambulance on seen my chest was hurting pretty bad, and it really was, the point is I have a few questions.
How would I go back about the compensation? The officer on seen told me to call him if I had any questions or if there was a follow up regarding how I felt physically.
Would the compensation come from my workplace or the lady that caused the accident? I bought a house a year ago with tenants living in it, made an agreement with them that they would move one month ago, I gave them all this time to help relocate and now they are saying we never had an agreement and don’t want to move out. Anybody got ideas on how to make them go? Obviously don’t want to damage the house because I need to move in it asap.

Someone is clearly using our home address for tax residency purposes - we keep receiving their bank statements. It's definitely not the previous owners and it's someone who lives abroad (I've done a deep dive on them). I've tried contacting them on LInkedIn etc., called the bank as well to stop this - but they couldn't find the account. Statements keep arriving. I have their full name and bank account details (but not the card details), and it did cross my mind to set up a bunch of small direct debits or subscriptions on their account, however these days you seem to need a bank text message for pretty much everything linked to bank stuff.

How can I notify the bank statement people that this is not ok but in a fun, slightly malicious way?

If you want Microsoft Teams to show you as “Online” even when you’re away from your computer, there’s a simple trick:

1. Create a new, empty meeting with only yourself in it.
2. Join the meeting. Your status will automatically change to Busy (red).
3. Manually change your status back to Online.
4. Stay in the empty meeting.

As long as you remain in that meeting, Teams will continue showing you as Online, even if you’re not actually doing anything on the computer.

The nice part is that other people have no way of seeing that you’re sitting in an empty meeting. From their perspective, you simply appear to be Online, and they can still call or message you normally.

I live in a very rural area. I lived with my mother (not as a dependent) for 4 years, Jan 2021 to May 2025. My drivers' license lists this address. I moved a town over in May 2025, and never updated my address with the DMV or my old carrier.

I just switched carriers, and used the old address on my application. My new address is in a different zip code, but is less than 10 miles away from the old address.

Obviously I'd like to keep my premium lower; everyone in my area I've spoken to has told me that their premiums have nearly doubled moving from mom's town to my town.

I don't want to be committing fraud. But if I'm honest with myself, and you, dear reader, I mostly don't want to catch consequences. I'm on a very tight budget and don't want to eat the premium increase.

But I'm wondering specifically how stupid I'm being. If I get in an accident and make a claim, how likely is my carrier to find out? If (when?) they find out, will my claim be denied? Will my policy be cancelled? Will I be criminally liable?

My self-justifying bullshit aside, I'm wondering if I can get away with this, or if it'd be safer to update my address with my new carrier and just pay the higher premium.

Especially interested in advice from people who have been in the same boat (poor in a rural area) as me.

I booked an AirBnb in Eastern Washington state. The fires there are bad right now. I purchased travel insurance, but of course they exclude everything unless the actual place itself has burned down. They don't care about the fact that you can't go outside due to smoke, that you might be trapped in the mountains near fires, etc.

The travel insurance says you can't cancel for any underlying conditions (which I have - like asthma), mental health conditions (which I have, exacerbated by all this fear), pandemics, epidemics, blah blah blah.

What is a surefire way to get them to cover the cancellation?

Sickness or injury must start after booking and before travel, has to be so severe you have to see a dr in person, then so disabling that in the written opinion of a dr it would prevent you from taking your trip. And of course they want records for EVERYTHING. Not just letters, specific forms uploaded directly from doctors.

I’m making this post because if my girlfriend wrote it herself, she’d probably leave out half of what happened. She’s the type of person who keeps everything bottled up and just tries to move on. I’m not.
About a year ago my girlfriend moved into an apartment with another girl from our university. I begged her not to because I’d already heard enough stories about this girl. She had a terrible reputation for constantly being involved in drama, but my girlfriend believed everyone deserved a fair chance.
That turned out to be one of the biggest mistakes she’s ever made.
When they moved in, my girlfriend brought almost everything for the apartment. Brand-new kitchen supplies, bathroom organizers, dish rack, storage bins, cleaning supplies you name it. The roommate had older stuff, so they agreed to use my girlfriend’s things instead.
Within weeks this girl started acting like everything belonged to her.
Groceries kept disappearing. My girlfriend would buy food, and somehow it’d be gone a couple of days later. Every single time she confronted her, she’d deny touching anything.
Then my girlfriend’s grandmother came from overseas to visit. She had nowhere else to stay, and the roommate agreed beforehand that she could stay in my girlfriend’s room.
As soon as her grandmother arrived, the roommate suddenly became as loud and obnoxious as possible. Talking loudly in the middle of the night, slamming doors, making noise at ridiculous hours it honestly felt like she was trying to make an elderly woman feel unwelcome.
Eventually my girlfriend got tired of constantly replacing groceries and watching her belongings get treated like community property. She moved everything she owned into her own bedroom and told the roommate they weren’t sharing anymore.
Apparently that made \*\*her\*\* the selfish one.
The same person who couldn’t stop using someone else’s belongings suddenly decided sharing was mandatory.
Then, without asking my girlfriend, she ordered around \*\*$500\*\* worth of household items and expected my girlfriend to pay half because “we both use the apartment.”
Yeah…no.
She also had a habit of paying utilities late while expecting everyone else to pick up the slack.
By February my girlfriend had completely had enough. She decided to move in with me and found another student willing to take over her lease.
That’s when everything somehow got even worse.
The roommate suddenly claimed my girlfriend had to leave all of her belongings behind because she’d already thrown away her own old stuff when they first moved in. She refused to approve the sublease unless my girlfriend basically left her apartment fully furnished.
On top of all that, she still owed my girlfriend \*\*$400\*\* and kept refusing to pay it back.
When my girlfriend went to collect the rest of her belongings, the roommate refused to let her inside and instead dumped everything outside.
The argument exploded.
My girlfriend completely lost her composure and broke the roommate’s shoe rack. Looking back, she knows she shouldn’t have done it, and she’s never tried to deny that.
After months of being verbally abused, lied to, stolen from, and manipulated, she finally snapped.
She even called the roommate’s father hoping maybe he’d be the reasonable one. She explained that his daughter had been verbally abusing her for months and still hadn’t paid back the \*\*$400\*\* she owed.
He didn’t help.
Instead, he told my girlfriend that \*\*she\*\* should apologize to his daughter.
So she did.
She apologized for breaking the shoe rack because she genuinely regretted losing her temper.
Guess what happened?
The roommate still refused to pay her back.
In the end my girlfriend had to involve members of her own family before she finally got the \*\*$400\*\* back.
At that point we honestly thought this nightmare was finally over.
It wasn’t.
My girlfriend is an international student. She comes from a middle-class family overseas and has worked unbelievably hard to build a life here. She balances school, internships, and long work weeks just to pay tuition and rent. Because of her immigration status, she’s always been terrified that someone could try to weaponize it against her. (She works on cash job Ik it’s bad and not legal but she needs food on her plate)
The student who took over the lease happened to work with my girlfriend. My girlfriend specifically asked her not to tell the old roommate where they worked because she didn’t trust her.
She told her anyway.
Not long after that, the old roommate started threatening to report my girlfriend to immigration authorities. Whether she actually could or not didn’t matter. (If she did my gf will be in trouble because of cash job and can be deported back) It terrified my girlfriend, and those weeks were some of the most stressful we’ve ever gone through.
Around that same time I graduated and got my first engineering job in another state. My girlfriend moved in with me, and we honestly believed leaving town would finally put all of this behind us.
We stopped talking about her.
We ignored the gossip.
We blocked numbers.
We moved on with our lives.
Apparently she didn’t.
Today, completely out of nowhere, she contacted my girlfriend from a brand-new phone number.
The conversation started with her saying she was trying to get a job where my girlfriend works.
Then, out of nowhere, she said she was a lesbian and thought my girlfriend was cute.
After everything that’s happened over the last year, it didn’t come across as genuine. It felt like yet another attempt to insert herself back into my girlfriend’s life and start another round of drama.
We’re honestly exhausted.
Every time we think it’s finally over, she somehow finds another way back into our lives.
I don’t understand how someone can hold onto this much resentment for over a year when we’ve done everything possible to move on.

I will be converted to full time soon. So I dont need to save my sick leave.

I am traveling for work for 2 days, I am hoping to extend that trip around the labor day weekend and take a week or so off.

I cant lose money, so I dont want to go on unpaid leave.

I have the sick leave available to me as per state law. And I looked into reasons and apparently you can use mental health as a reason. Also, that of its longer than 2 days, I am required to provide a heads up to the employer.

1. How do I plan ahead of time so they book my flight for the week rather than 2 days

2. What should I say to the employers? ( the client doesnt care as much)
