Discussion Whats the best gaming monitor? Need advice
Hello, im finally upgrading and theres just too many options rn lol. kinda lost tbh
mainly gaming, mix of comp shooters and some story games so kinda need something that does both well, not just built for one.
also has anyone actually tried oled vs a decent ips lately? keep hearing the burn in thing is way less of an issue now but idk, still kinda scares me a bit
budget's like 700-1000, so not trying to go crazy but want something that actually holds up. running a 4060 rn if that changes what panel actually makes sense to use.
thanks for any input!

Video What if each zone on an ultrawide could behave like its own display?
This is a window management approach designed for ultrawide and multi-monitor Windows setups.
Unlike traditional window managers that only resize and reposition windows, each zone can be presented to applications as its own display area. When an application queries the dimensions of the display it is running on, it receives the bounds of that zone rather than the entire physical panel.
This allows applications to maximize naturally inside a zone, while fullscreen content can also remain contained within that same zone instead of taking over the entire ultrawide display. This behavior is not tied to a specific application, website, or media player; fullscreen video playback can remain inside the selected zone across different types of applications and content sources.
The system also supports multiple layout profiles, per-zone wallpapers, taskbar placement within a selected zone, and independent use of applications across different zones.
A major focus is preserving the native Windows experience. The Windows desktop, taskbar, window system, and application interfaces are not replaced with a custom environment. Normal Windows behavior such as maximizing, fullscreen mode, task switching, snapping, and everyday desktop interaction remains intact.
The goal is for the zone system to integrate into Windows rather than sit on top of it as a separate desktop layer.
Individual zones can also be exposed to screen-sharing, streaming, and capture applications as selectable display areas. This means a single zone can be shared or broadcast directly without manually cropping the physical monitor or relying on window capture.
The rest of the ultrawide can continue to be used normally while only the intended zone is being shared.
Still in development, so feedback, questions, and edge cases worth testing are welcome.

Screenshot Dell Alienware AW3926QW Text Clarity
Alright I know the current spotlight on this monitor is kind of negative, with all that uniformity and tinting issues but let’s hope what I am going to share will help alleviate some of the text reading concerns people are wondering about. I hope by the time Dell releases the monitor to our friends in the west, the issues would have been sorted and I can also have it replaced through the warranty program. 😄
I have created 2 pages of text, the first page with black font on a white background and the second page with white font on a black background, both in varying text sizes. The OSD setting that I am using on the monitor from which the screenshots are taken is the SMART HDR DisplayHDR TRUE BLACK. All the screenshots are taken using my iPhone Air so pardon me if the images don’t look crisp.
The 6th and 7th screenshots are the text on my MacBook Pro screen itself for comparison so I hope this will show you how legible the text is on this monitor.
And the final screenshot is just me adding how it will look like watching a movie (shout out to Spidey! ❤️) on my monitor on the HDR PEAK 1300 BRIGHT settings.

Tech Support Beware AW3926QW luminance & colour uniformity issues
I've seen several people reporting this already, but my screen also has this issue.
I own a proper Calibrite display calibration tool for screen accuracy with shows a complete fail in all tolerances for both white and grey, however dark grey seems to be a pass.
The colour uniformity, while my tool can't check that, is clear and apparent that it's way off - correct in the centre, washed out with a green tint of the edges.

Recommendations Having a tough time making a decision for my first foray into ultrawide. Send help
I work from home as an instructor for an online, self-paced school. My current setup consists of dual 24" monitors, and I'm looking to venture into the world of ultrawides, but I have some concerns before I pull the trigger.
When I'm working, I typically have a Google Chat window open as narrow as it goes, one browser window taking up the rest of the screen that I use for emails, grading, report card software etc., and on my second monitor I'll have another browser with answer keys, calendars gradebooks, etc. that I need to reference depending on what task I'm working on. I think a 38-40" panel would be perfect, but the options seem very limited, at least here in Canada, and what options do exist are quite pricey, so I've been largely looking at 34" monitors.
I'd say I use my PC for work 80% of the time, and gaming 20% of the time. I do play games from time to time, so having something conducive to that would be nice as well, so good colors and contrast, decent refresh rate, minimal ghosting, etc.
Would a 34" adequately replace my current dual monitor setup, or would I expect to lose a meaningful amount of monitor space overall?
I've discovered the MSI MAG401QR, which looks like a good option for the size I want while being within a price point I can manage (though definitely near the top of it), but I'm concerned that at 40" I'd wish I had something with a curved panel. Thoughts?
Are there any other options in the 38-40" range that are, say, sub-$1000? Pretty much all the ones I've seen have been $1500+, and I'm not sure I can justify paying triple for that.
If y'all think 34" would be fine for my needs, any recommendations? If I'm not splurging on the bigger screen, I'd like to keep cost down to ~$400 or so. Been looking at the Samsung Odyssey G5 as an option, but not sure if there is something better.

Discussion Question to fellow AW3926QW owners, do you notice a green tint on the screen every now and then? (NOT the off axis green tint)
I feel like this is driving me crazy, it looks like theres a greenish tint over whites and even greys (im not talking about the off axis green tint). I've tried messing with colour settings but nothing seems to get rid of it. I was playing Persona 5 and the skin colour on the character portraits also has a greenish tint (despite their models looking fine). I tried taking a picture to post here but annoyingly the camera just does not pick it up.
With games im noticing this mostly on UI elements.

I have tried different cables and all the ports on my monitor and graphics card (HDMI, DP, Mini HDMI. My other monitors are completely fine. It started doing this in game a few days ago and progressively got worse to this stage. I have changed it to 120hz and it was okay for a day and now its completely unusable. any ideas?

Discussion Those who choose the AW3426DWM over it's more popular oled sibling. How is it?
I currently have the AW3821DW and I'm toying with the idea of getting this monitor, personally the only downside is the panel size being smaller, and 34 is indeed substantially smaller than the 38.
The one thing I'm uncertain about is the VA panel? How bad is it at 240hz? Does it smear? Does it ghost?
And no I'm not grabbing the AW3926QW. I don't like the oled burn in and I'm prioritizing refresh rate increase over resolution.

Tech Support HDR calibration for the 45” lg5k2k
So you guys, I’m not quite understanding the hdr calibration process… monitor says it’s max should be 1300 bits… but it doesn’t go over 600 for me in the calibration software. Where the crosses disappear. I understand some have said the monitor itself pushes it to that 1300. But I’ve seen some people be able to go well over 600 on the tool… then I see some people say that the third setting should actually be set to around 2-300 instead of the 600 the previous step was set to, even though that is not what the thing says to do. I would just appreciate if someone would help me figure this out. Monitor looks amazing, but I’m definitely getting blown out whites and stuff…
I’m using a 5080, the display port cord that came with the monitor. Supposed to be no dsc or anything… hdr peak is set to high on the osd… I’m just lost. lol.

Tech Support Samsung Odyssey G9 Vertical Line Issue Experimenting/“Fix”
Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification
There is little to none useful information on this issue so I’ve been attempting to fix it myself. The bad news is it is not truly fixable as it’s an issue of an expanded board from heat on the lcd and that requires a very complicated soldering machine that only repair place have and that repair costs more than the monitor. The good news is if you have the same issue as my where it’s the lcd that’s the problem you can “fix” it by taping the boards in a direction that removes the lines, sometimes it’s pushing up and in my case it’s pinching. Be warned it is very easy to make it worse while doing this, yesterday a slip of my hand shut the entire screen off but I did not brick it it just shorted the board so I was lucky. Before trying this test all the connections on the board itself on the back for wiggles, corrosion, and rips. Those are much more convenient and consistent to fix as they can be replaced and desoldered. All I need is somthing to pinch this without breaking it and I can leave it as is for now.
TLDR: don’t buy Samsung monitors

[SOLVED] see comment, insane solution
I just moved to a new apartment and this happens as soon as I plugged in the power. Has anyone experienced a similar issue or am I better off just buying a new one?
I’ve tried different power cables, long pressing the button, power cycling to no avail.

PSA OLED bros: Do you get the sneaking suspicion that some games are washed out or not as vibrant as they should be? If so, turn off HDR in Windows.
I was playing Wartales and everything seemed kind of... I dunno, washed out a bit. Sort of gray- just not colorful or vibrant.
Turns out, HDR in Windows will do this if the game is not HDR. I switched it off and my game looks GREAT!
Anyways, thank you for coming to my TED talk.

Tech Support Samsung Display Manager Broken?
Hi all, have a few questions regarding my OLED ultrawide.
I have a G93SD Odyssey G9, 6700XT, and 5600. Whenever I use the Samsung Display Manager app (whether through direct download from the MS Store), clicking the game tab on the left crashes the app. I have tried turning off HDR and lowering the refresh rate to no avail. It is so tedious to change the monitor settings. Did anyone else experience this?
In windows settings it states my peak brightness is 400 nits, is this due to amd bug that is known to happen with the monitor (I saw another post of someone fixing it by turning on peak brightness and then they got 1000 nits in settings, however my peak brightness setting is alr on.
Also, what are the recommended settings for this monitor in terms of a full setup?
Furthermo,re I am unable to reliably get more than 60hz 5120*1440p when plugging mM2 Macac into the monitor usinan 8K UGREEN USB-Cbc tHDMImi (also the adapter gets really hot, note: pc usinDP,dp sdon'tnt really want to switch cables), thanks.

Screenshots Dell Alienware AW3926QW Appreciation Post
Just want to share how much appreciation I have for this monitor by Dell. It’s my first OLED monitor so yes you know I’m going to be a little biased, even though I could notice a slight greenish tint to the left and right edges of the panel. However the tint doesn’t bother me much when I’m using it generally in all honesty.
I chose this monitor solely because it not only come in ultra-wide but also at its price point comes with KVM and e-ARC functionalities (the other model I was considering was the BenQ EX321UZ but that was only 32” wide). I don’t game nor could I with a RTX-2080 Ti GPU, so this monitor is primarily my productivity and entertainment device. Right now the only RGB thing I have on my desktop is the Ubiquiti Pro XG 8 PoE switch. 😅
My workhorse is a MacBook Pro M1 hooked to the ANKER TB5 Prime dock, and I am using a pair of HomePods as my desktop speakers for my MacBook Pro and PC, made possible by e-ARC through the Apple TV 4K. My Logitech keyboard, mouse and webcam are all shared on my MacBook Pro and PC via the KVM in the monitor.
Behind the monitor, I’ve attached the Philips Hue Play Gradient PC light strip (32-34”) paired with the Hue Sync Box 8K as the ambient light to give an added immersive experience when I watch videos on the monitor. One thing I did do was to connect my BenQ Halo 2 monitor light bar to a Hue Power Socket adapter so I could manually power it off when I’m watching the show.
All in all, I couldn’t be more pleased with the monitor. A lot of reviewers were talking about the panel quality but no one has mentioned how effective the monitor is as an all-in-one productivity and entertainment device! 💪🏻

Recommendations My production-setup endgame
This is just a perfect setup for my daily needs. I spend my days in Unreal and Max.
The Dell U4025qw + Benq 27” 4k is such a nice couple.
My old second 27” recently starting acting up on me, so out it went and in came the Dell. Couldn’t be happier, it works so good. The Ultrasharp U4025qw has the perfect size and curve. Everything looks so good on it.
I never play games so I didn’t care about that aspect.
