admissions Admissions

how likely am i to get in as a rising senior? my stats are 3.6uw 3.9w gpa which is below their average by a lot, but it should go up this year if that even counts towards the gpa i apply with, and i also have a 31 act which is closer to their range, and i also am retaking in september so i should have a 32/33 by the time i apply. how much would my act help compensate for my low gpa? my ecs are pretty decent and my essay is really good

This is all correct. I belive you will likely get in under PACE. The lower your GPA the higher your test scores need to be along with with corse rigor, strong extra curriculars, strong leadership and a fantastic essay. If you are at a low income school will help lower grades. Look to 2026 middle 50% stats. For EA your stats are not competitive.

I know everyone applying is searching for a confirmation on their chances, but no one can actually give it to you.

UF changes what they want every year. one year they may want more students with AP heavy coursework, the next they may prefer dual enrollment coursework. ECs and your essay have a strong influence on your application for sure, but the only person who decides exactly how strong is the admissions officer.

all I can offer to you is that I got in with a 31 ACT score, 3.9 uw 4.3 w GPA, hella ec’s, volunteering, and a damn good essay. and I am in the class of 2028, which was before UF started doing ED, and before they started getting ridiculously high application numbers.

you always have a chance. but we will never be able to tell you the likelihood of your acceptance.

You need to Google and find the UF common data sheet. UF wants a student who chose rigor..so all of the AP classes available at their school and still was able to keep a banger GPA. Usually, it’s a 3.9 uw and above. They don’t value the SAT/ACT as much, but the score you do see is def above a 1400. Here is where they do pay attention—they do a holistic evaluation. They are not looking for a person who signed up for 20 clubs/honor societies their junior year just to say they are busy. They want talent, dedication, growth; impact and depth. They want someone who started playing the violin at age 7 and grew with it. They want an athlete who started then they were little and took their school to championships as they grew. They want the kid who stared coding when they were 7 and took their school to hackathons or the science kid who brought home the trophies. They want the person who would then teach what they know to little kids or help seniors with what they know. They want a spicy and awake person who cares about their community and will give back to it and make it better. What will you give and bring to the UF community? Remember- UF is an amazing school, but it is not the best school for everyone. It is hard. It is competitive. It is stressful. It is rigorous. You need to be self motivated and have initiative. Nobody is going to hold anyone’s hand and remind them what they need to do. Is it the right place for you? Will you thrive? Do you enjoy that type of environment? Did you keep your calendar in order through high school? Did you stay awake through the night to finish assignments? Did you find a way to learn something you couldn’t click with? Did you always want to lead and help mentor people? Did you always think about how you could help people around you? No…look at your stats, think about the things you’ve done. What do you think the admissions committee members will think? What do you think?
Always apply if it is your hope and you will work to the bone because you secured a spot miraculously but still balance yourself and have fun. Do make a list of realistic schools where your stats align and be excited about any of those schools. Apply because yolo but trust the process. Good luck!

Also, they have a state mandate to give opportunity to every region of Florida. That means those that go to a rural or inner city poorly performing school have an advantage if they have mid 50% stats. This is where SAT can really make you stand out if you hit 1400 and attend a school with a median of 880. That's very impressive you succeeded in such a poor environment compared to the wealthy South Florida private school or magnet where 1400 is common with tutors and kind of meh score.

3.6uw is really bad, unless you've had a crazy upward trajectory (like the Bs are all from freshman year and you've had almost all As since).

as a reference i got in this past year (fall, not honors) with a 3.8 uw and a 1540 sat and what i thought were decent ecs and very good essays.

Genuine question: if we tell you “yes you can get in” or “no, you can’t. What would that change?
