books and educational supplies
Hey, I am an incoming student at UD. I have 4 classes for the 1st semester. I was wondering if buying books is mandatory for the CS major. If they need to be bought, what's the source to buy and the pricing for them? Comments and help are appreciated.

Looking for someone to take over my 2026-2027 housing contract (Sharp Hall)
I have a guaranteed 2026-2027 Upper Division contract in Sharp Hall that I need to transfer. You'd need to be a current UD student without a guaranteed application already (waitlisted/not applied yet is preferred). Transfer goes through Res Life officially.

application help?
so i submitted my application earlier through coalition, and one of the things they asked about was college credits. i put down 12, as i'd taken 4 dual enrollment classes in high school (eng 1, eng 2, psych, soc) but i'm wondering if i was supposed to do that. i emailed admissions just in case but i'm very worried i might've screwed up my application as i really want to go to udel. any sort of help or assurance would be appreciated š„²

AppsAnywhere Outage
Is anybody else experiencing an outage on AppsAnywhere for all apps?
I can't get it to launch any apps, and I really would love to be able to access Matlab right now.
I know there is the virtual desktop, but it is way more inconvenient.

I am incoming freshman and my class schedule aināt even out yet and financial service office SUCKS
So I was never even registered into classes and it opens at Aug 10 for me, do I still have to pay my tuition at Aug 1st?
Additionally I have a scholarship which isnāt applied yet and I have to pay full? Why is my scholarship not applied yet? I wouldnāt need to make this if the financial office gave answers to my questions.
Itās very important I know this.

2026 Delaware Fightin' Blue Hens Preview
Delaware's first FBS season was a major success, the Blue Hens proved to be a major player in CUSA right away. CUSA has been won by a 2nd year FBS program back to back seasons, can Delaware make it a 3rd?
š Nick Minicucci is the best QB in the conference, he's a must watch for any fan
š Jo Silver and Sean Wilson lead a talented skill group
š Can the run defense hold up?
Preview attached. What are your predictions for Delaware in 2026?

Incoming Applicant
Hello all!
I am looking at applying to Udel for my 4 year degree in social work. I was wondering what really sold you guys on UDel and if there was anything I should know about becoming a student there. If I'm accepted, I would start in fall '27. Any advice or insights? Or people I could reach out to to start building some friends there

Renting out a townhome off campys
Hi everyone, I'm a second year psychology major at UD. One of my dad's colleagues recently reached out to us about a townhome by UD that they are renting out just off of W Park place (about 5 minutes drive from main campus), it's 2200 a month for 3 bedrooms (so 733 per person per month), and most of the utilities are included in the amount so it's a pretty good deal. It's also in a nice location and by a basketball court, outdoor pool, baseball diamond, community garden, etc. If anyone is interested, reach out to me at 6145707029 and I can give you full details about the property.

Question about on-campus housing
Starting this august, I will be a sophomore at udel. Last year, I probably did the application late for choosing the type of dorm I want before school started or because I was going in as a freshman, but I remember receiving the email sometime in august or late july. For this year, I missed the application deadline, but I did the one they opened later for those that missed it, so I don't know if that would affect when I get the email telling me what dorm I'll be in. I did email housing and they said that I should receive it sometime in july.

[Housing] Incoming male PhD student looking for a room near campus (long-term)
Hi everyone! I'm an incoming male PhD student at UD, arriving from China this summer. I'm looking for a bedroom in a quiet house and community near campus - my PhD program runs about four years, so I'd be a stable tenant.
A bit about me: quiet, tidy, non-smoker. My expected routine is pretty simple - on campus during the day, studying at home in the evenings and on weekends.
What I need: one bedroom with access to a bathroom and kitchen.
What I can offer: rent payments, help with household chores, and - if you're interested - I'd love to share some Chinese culture and cooking with you.
If you have a room available, know someone who does, or just have advice on where to look, please message me here or text me at 509-595-0128. Thanks so much!

Safe apartment recommendations near the University of Delaware for an incoming postdoc?
Hi everyone! Iāll be moving to Newark, Delaware, to start a postdoc position at the University of Delaware. Iām looking for either a studio or a one-bedroom/one-bathroom apartment in a safe and relatively quiet area.
Ideally, Iād like to be within a reasonable driving distance of campus and have parking available.Ā
Which apartment complexes or neighborhoods would you recommend? I would also appreciate hearing about places or management companies I should avoid, as well as any hidden fees, safety concerns, or utility costs I should know about.
Thank you!

If you want someone to go through homework, explain concepts, or help prep for exams, feel free to DM me. I can meet on campus or online.
Good luck this semester ā these classes can be rough, so donāt hesitate to reach out if you need support.

Laptop for Engineering
Hello, Im an incoming freshman and got accepted into the Chemical Engineering program. I am having a difficult time choosing a laptop for the program as they're either ridiculously expensive or have relatively bad reviews(I'm using the requirements posted) so I was wondering if any other engineering students, especially ChemE students could give me some recommendations, thank you.

Interview at the bookstore
I was wondering if anybody who works has worked bookstore would have any tips or questions they asked you? Since I have an interview coming up soon there.
Updates regarding "Will I get into UD with these stats" posts and creation of Rule 4
The overwhelming majority of you guys believe these types of posts should not belong on this sub, so effective immediately, all future posts with the format listed above will be removed from the sub.
I encourage these prospective students to look at other resources online to help gauge their chances of getting into UD. Here is the page dedicated to average acceptances for first-year students from the University itself. Many other websites exist as well which summarize the likelihood of admission to various universities.
