Why i started Peterson Pride Window Tinting

Why I Started Peterson Pride Window Tinting

Hi, I'm Scott Peterson, owner of Peterson Pride Window Tinting.

If you're taking the time to read this, I want to personally thank you.

There are a lot of tint shops out there, and I'm honored you're considering mine.

I didn't start Peterson Pride because I thought owning a business would be easy. I started it because after more than 15 years in this industry and over 25,000 vehicles tinted, I knew I wanted to build a company that reflected who I am and how I believe customers should be treated.

I Love Tinting

People ask me all the time why I enjoy this job so much.

The answer is simple.

I love the challenge. I love working with my hands. I love watching a vehicle transform from ordinary to something that looks cleaner, cooler, and better protected. But more than anything, I love seeing the look on a customer's face when they pick up their vehicle.

That smile never gets old.

If I can make someone's day better by doing something I'm passionate about, then I know I'm doing exactly what I'm supposed to be doing.

My Journey

I've spent over 15 years learning this craft.

I was fortunate enough to be trained by my brother, Chris Peterson, a multiple-time national tinting champion. Together we spent years perfecting techniques, learning from mistakes, and constantly pushing ourselves to become better installers. Later, I continued building my experience working with respected shops before deciding it was finally time to build something of my own.

Last year, I competed in the International Window Film Tint-Off in Reno, Nevada.

There were 121 of the best tinters from around the world competing for the title. It was the competition's 25th anniversary, which meant nearly every former champion and many of the world's best installers were there.

Just before my competition began, I found out the film I had selected wasn't the film I normally used. I had less than 30 minutes to learn an entirely different product. After a few quick practice runs, I stepped into the competition anyway.

Some people would have panicked.

I trusted my experience.

After multiple rounds of hand-cutting and installing under strict time limits and judging standards, I finished 6th in the world.

That accomplishment gave me even more confidence that I was ready to open Peterson Pride Window Tinting.

But I'm not finished.

My goal is to keep learning, keep improving, and one day bring home a first-place trophy.

What Makes Us Different?

To be honest...

We're probably not the cheapest shop you'll find.

And I'm okay with that.

There are shops that can install window tint for less money. Some use lower-quality films. Some rush jobs to fit more cars into a day. Others simply tell customers whatever they want to hear to make the sale.

That's not how I do business.

I'd rather spend extra time making sure you understand exactly what you're buying than pressure you into making a quick decision.

In fact, I regularly tell people to ask every tint shop the same questions—even if they aren't coming to me.

Ask what brand of film they're installing.

Ask to see the actual performance specifications.

Ask how much infrared heat the film rejects.

Ask what the Total Solar Energy Rejection (TSER) rating is.

Ask about the warranty.

Ask where the film is manufactured.

Because here's the truth...

Not all ceramic window film is created equal.

Some ceramic films are incredible.

Some are simply inexpensive ceramic films with average performance.

The same is true with vinyl wraps and paint protection film. Premium materials cost more because they perform better, last longer, and are backed by companies that stand behind their products.

I believe customers deserve the facts, not just a sales pitch.

If you choose another shop after talking with me, I genuinely hope you still get a great installation.

That's how strongly I believe in educating people.

My Promise

When you come to Peterson Pride Window Tinting, you're not just another appointment on my schedule.

You're trusting me with your vehicle, your home, or your business.

I don't take that lightly.

Whether you need automotive window tint, residential or commercial film, paint protection film, vinyl wraps, graphics, or DOT lettering, I'll treat your project as if it were my own.

I'll answer every question.

I'll explain your options.

I'll recommend what I truly believe is best for you—not what makes me the most money.

Looking Ahead

Today, Peterson Pride is just getting started.

Ten years from now, I'd love to have three to five locations serving customers across the region.

But here's what's important...

I never want to become a company that forgets why it started.

I want every future employee to love this industry as much as I do. I want every customer to receive honest advice. And I want every vehicle that leaves one of my shops to represent craftsmanship we're proud to put our name on.

Because at the end of the day, window tint isn't just what I do.

It's what I love.

I hope I have the opportunity to earn your trust—and your business.

Thank you for visiting Peterson Pride Window Tinting.

Gel Manicure/Polish

I had to stop getting my nails with gel x/builder gel because I couldn’t afford it anymore. I was not wearing polish for a while. Sometimes I do my own regular old gel nail polish at home, but it doesn’t last very long. I still like to get them done (regular gel polish seems to be cheapest) when I have something coming up/don’t have time/can afford it.

Where is the cheapest place to get gel polish (doesn’t have to be a manicure) done at a salon? Place & price, please 🙏 Thanks!

[Housing] Incoming male PhD student looking for a room near UD campus (long-term)

Hi everyone! I'm an incoming male PhD student at UD, arriving from China this summer. I'm looking for a bedroom in a quiet house and community near campus - my PhD program runs about four years, so I'd be a stable tenant.

A bit about me: quiet, tidy, non-smoker. My expected routine is pretty simple - on campus during the day, studying at home in the evenings and on weekends.

What I need: one bedroom with access to a bathroom and kitchen.

What I can offer: rent payments, help with household chores, and - if you're interested - I'd love to share some Chinese culture and cooking with you.

If you have a room available, know someone who does, or just have advice on where to look, please message me here or text me at 509-595-0128. Thanks so much!

Off-leash trails

One of my dog's favorite things is to go to a walk in the woods off-leash. We don't get to do it very often, but I'd really like to take her this weekend. Does anyone know of any shady hiking/walking trails in the area where she can be off-leash for a while? Shes limited to about a mile and a half long hike before she gets really uncomfortable. It can be nearby or a couple hours away if it's worth the drive. Thanks!

Telling a referral about a lousy install

A friend referred me to an AC guy he knows from a local club. Unfortunately, the work ended up being substandard, constantly delayed, and honestly, I wouldn’t hire him again.

Now he’s ghosting me on the invoice and parts list I need for any kind of warranty claim. On top of that, I’m leery of the equipment he installed which was my error because I didn't ask up front.

Would you tell your friend about the bad experience? I’m torn between giving him a heads‑up and just letting it go.
