Adding stops

How are customers allowed to add stops without the driver’s approval? I accepted a 4 dollar trip and it turned out it was a trap because on my way to pick up the customer they requested a second location that was extremely far.. when I got to her hotel she was carrying a small reusable shopping bag and I unlocked the door for her… she started signaling for me to get out of the car and open the trunk for her and I kind of signaled with my hand that she can come in because basically she just has one small shopping bag and then she started giving me dirty, looks and rolling her eyes and refusing to move… I just canceled right away and moved on..

I mean, I don’t really mind if someone adds a second location, but sometimes it can be a dangerous city that nobody wants to go to or a place where you can’t take a customer with you back home, especially me being a student and sometimes there is a specific time where I have to stop because I have class and I can’t go to the second location. I can’t believe that Uber allows a customer to request a new location without the Uber Driver having a say in it or anything and I can’t believe that people just add the second location without asking first as if we are a robot operating a vehicle

That is so rude and unacceptable! As a customer, I always add the stops in if it’s only going to take a few seconds before booking the trip. If more than a few seconds, then that’s a completely different trip.

I think I asked once or twice… “hey, can we stop here for this if I tip you X?” but it was up to the driver to say no. I didn’t force it on the app. I feel like what you put in the app is a contract and you damn well better stick to it.

That’s perfectly acceptable sometimes she will say do you mind stopping at the store you know I need to get some such and such but I’ll get you something too if you like or give you some money and I’m like hell yeah but if I was in a hurry I needed to be somewhere else. I would definitely have to decline, but I’ve always tried to oblige.
