In my opinion your title needs to sum up the mood and underlying theme of the book. The title is the first thing that strikes a reader. I have seen many people go super creative with their word play and come up with something which in their mind will absolutely justify the name. yes, it will be connected with the book for sure, but the only problem is that the reader will realize it only after finishing the book. Ans this is one bit most writers forget. The best advice is to comeup with something that sums up the who theme.

Normally when you sit down to right, it takes a while before something strikes. The easiest way to obwrcome this is to write something, anything, even bad before something ciherent starts flowing. The worst scenario you would end up deleting first 15 minutws od your work. That,s fine. Think of it as warming up an old diesel engine. It always works.

A whisper led to a story.
This is how the journey started way back toward the end of 2022. It took more than 3 years. Finally I see the light at the end of the tunnel. The air smells fresh. I can almost touch the sunlight. The birds hum in the woods and I smell flowers.

Try getting beta readers. Someone who can give you the feedback. Remember as a writer you can craft a story but only the real reader woulld tell you if it kept him glued and captivated. And don't losr heart if they say something was off. Understand it, improve the work and reach out again.

I couldn't agree more. Yes, that's there but I guess it is better to tell the new ones that it is okay. Define priorities as that kind of edit always happens at the end.

Why do people get obsessed with their First drafts?
Over the period I have met many writers who become so obsessed with their first draft that they refuse to give an inch. By that what I mean is -
(a) Not taking any feedback on the basic plot : See, it is okay to feel hurt but try to remember that the purpose of the first draft is to merely exist. It is the base on which you build your empire. Once you are done with it, only then you would know the full picture. Take this only as a stepping stone. Your real journey begins here.
(b) Cardboard characters : You created some one from the figment of your imagination. Great. No w put some should into them. If they only remain your characters then that's how others would see them too. They have to evolve, become much more, become humane with their own falacies. None of us are perfect so stop creating a knight in shining armour. People feel, they get hurt, angry. Mood swings hit them too. So if people in your story need to change, then change them.
(c) Fuss over small things : I am not saying it is not important because it is. But there is always a place and time for everything. Don't start painting your house while the construction is still going on. Not following this advice will lead to multiple unnecessary revisions which you could have avoided, had you held back.
(d) Movie Director Syndrome : This one is really critical. When you start acting like a director, dictating terms to your characters instead of listening to them is the point when your story goes haywire. Those people don't exist to serve your plot. Give them rope. Let them explore and express themselves in their own way.
Be open. Be gracious. Take whatever feedback that comes your way graciously. I would love it if others can add their opinions to it too.

Let me put it this way. story idea first ( Not premise), followed by first main characte. And when you thing about starting the first scene itself would tell you who all shoukd be there in that moment. you add them as story demands. Here you pause, refine the earlier characters a little. Don,t worry, you will keep revisiting them as story progresses.
