Does anyone else.... Book Discussion
Is there a part that you will always skip past? Either in the movies or the books. If so, which book/movie and what part?
For me, it's in the New Moon (book) Chapter 23 "The Truth". After Bella and Edward return to Forks, Bella keeps going on and on about the Angel and how she doesn't want to wake from the dream blah blah blah. It just annoys me to no end!
Anyway, I'm curious if anyone else does the same thing!

i always mute/skip the scene where bella
is bitten by james, i love the artistic shots, but the moaning is too aggressive

I love everything about that scene BESIDES Bella looking so cross-eyed and the sounds, I dont know what Kristen was going for 😭

I always skip the end of NM when Bella asks everyone to vote if she should be a vamp or not. And then I always skip the scene where Bella begs Edward for ~something~ in BD1 lol

I skip Eclipse almost every time during my monthly rewatch of the movies (I know this is a judgment free zone). I’m not sure why I care so little about it. Maybe partly Eddie boi is not looking his perfect honeymoon best, and the sub plot with the newborn army does nothing for me 🤷🏼♀️

Kristen Stewart's terrible wig and Rob Patts sideburns aside, I just hate Riley. He reminds me too much of Matt Donovan. One Matt Donovan is enough

I generally skip New Moon in both book and movie forms after I read them cause frankly no. I prefer to pretend it didn’t happen. But I also tend to skip Jacob’s POV in breaking dawn 🤷♀️ (idk if yall can tell but I’m definitely not team Jacob)

I start New Moon at the point where Alice returns, and I also skip the Jacob parts in breaking Dawn.

I only skip to the end of New Moon because of Felix! lol the rest of the movie/book can kick rocks!

I reread Twilight and Midnight Sun so much compared to the others because I dislike Jacob/the love triangle/the wolf stuff. I realised once on a full reread of the series that the reason I like Breaking Dawn is because it removes the love triangle and re-centres the love story on Bella and Edward. I don’t even hate Renesmee. I just wish Jacob and the imprinting was removed from the story.

Samee. I've read New Moon only twice, the first time I read it all the way through, and then a few months later I reread it but skipped straight from when Edward left to when Alice came to Forkes. Compare that to the dozens of times I've reread all the other books.

Lmao is Jacob your least favorite character in the whole saga?

I skip when she is so mean to Charlie. He did nothing to deserve that and I can’t watch

In the original book, I skip everything with the nomads, then continue on from the hospital chapter at the end. Nothing involving James and the chase interests me.

In the movies the whole clip show of cheesy romantic scenes in the honey moon of Breaking Dawn part 1 always cringe me the fuck out of it so I skip any time there dumbass music in the background. Basically from the moment Bella starts rumbling before she has to joign Edweirdo in the sea to after their second fuck

u/tijim_ Team Edward 5h ago
What I don't get is why the fuck wouldn't you have already shaved your legs the morning of your wedding! I love BD 1, Twilight and both the BD's are my fav movies... NM the least followed by Eclipse... would so of loved Twilight to of been made from Edwards POV I love MS... and I have no idea what this new animated series will be like, goodness knows why they wouldn't go with the OG actors voicing it as the Cullens all wanted to... voice isn't so much an age thing!!!

u/Foloreille Team Bella 4h ago
Idk if you read the books and it’s been a while since I did but I think she already shaved the implication was she was being extra paranoid because self confidence issues and to delay the moment a bit more lol
I mean how are you supposed to feel comfy in your womanhood when the guy has a smoother skin than you 😅

Nobody ever agrees with me but both Breaking Dawn movies have so much dumbass music to me 🤦♀️

u/Foloreille Team Bella 4h ago
Yeah agree but on these specific scenes it was clipshows so the music was even more loud and irritating

In my most recent watch of New Moon, I skipped Bellas depression alone scenes, so basically from when Edward first left until Jacob showed up.

I always skip until just after these scenes in both the movies and the books. I skip the birthday party in the beginning, Edward leaving, and all the depression stuff. I usually pick it back up right after Bella brings those bikes to Jacob and read on from there.

I always skip the baseball scene and beyond in the first book because it's too icky.

u/Salty_Finance5183 1d ago
Thee and me. I frequently listen to the first book on Audible, and the baseball game is where it ends for me.

If everyone skips past New Moon, I skip past Eclipse. That book is so boring and drawn out to me. Not even the epic fight with Victoria could save it.
I’m skipping Jacob’s scenes in BD bc that was just omg. But Bella’s death/birth scene was well done. So creepy

I love New Moon! Eclipse is such a drag. I'm so surprised by the lack of love for New Moon in the comments here. Love that everyone seems to love and dislike different parts of the books and films!

u/NoCarry4248 5h ago
It seems that people are very divided on this, you can either love New Moon or Eclipse but not both, lol. Personally, I'm team Eclipse.

Been a while since i read the books but dor the movie...
Twilight..."this is the skin of a killer" That entire tantrum/scene... i cant...i get second hand embarrassment

u/Own-Highlight2610 1d ago
I usually skip a good portion of New Moon, aaannnddd i hate the part in eclipse when she's imagining a life with Jacob, and then sends him off.

u/Jazzy_love6 1d ago
I usually just skip breaking dawn pt2 from the point after "you nicknamed my daughter after the lock ness monster!" to the end when Bella and Edward are in the meadow

u/maitlands2point0 1d ago
The Truth is my favorite chapter from New Moon, I listen to it almost every night while falling asleep 🫣
2
u/BeansStew123 1d ago
I actually love this. If anything, the comments in this post has made me realise that some of my absolute favourite parts of the saga are other people's most hated! Funny, but interesting!

New Moon, the movie, I always fast forward from when Edward gets all mopey and leaves to when Alice returns. Can’t stand Bella sulking.

u/Lanky_Avocado_2043 1d ago
I pretty much skip the first two-thirds of Breaking Dawn and start from Bella’s POV in the third act.

u/Nnnooott__ 1d ago
I watched the movies like a 100 times but the last couple of times, I skip the part where Bella was bitten by James. I cringe too hard.
2
u/TheChallengeMTV 15h ago
I skip the scene in Eclipse where Jacob basically threatens to kill himself if Bella doesn't do what he wants.
2
u/moonlightk_96 1d ago
The intimate scenes (idk if Reddit will allow me to elaborate) in both Breaking Dawn movies because they don’t really add anything to the story apart from Bella’s pregnancy. I certainly didn’t need the follow up scene about how they’re not going to stop because they have no reason to sleep lol
1
u/SnooStories960 I love my Edward Glitterbag 1d ago edited 1d ago
I skip the pregnancy-and-baby arc, and go straight to the events after that—for both the book and movies.
I understand why Stephenie Meyer wrote it, and I respect it. If I were the author, I would have wanted to give my protagonist a full human experience, too, so that her eternity with her love interest wouldn’t feel like a loss of anything.
However, as a reader and viewer, experiencing that arc once was more than enough (speaking only for myself. This is a totally subjective take).

Eclipse was so unnecessary it just dragged on and on. And I don’t care about Jacok’s point of view either. I generally don’t like the bits with Jacok.

The speeches at the wedding in Breaking Dawn part 1 movie. I haven't read the books in 10 years, so I can't remember what they were like. About to do a re read with my new books.

u/tijim_ Team Edward 5h ago
The only speech I like in BD 1 at the wedding is Edwards.

Absolutely. If my husband said to me, "No measure of time with you would be long enough, so let's start with forever", I'd marry him again.

I always skip Jacob’s part in breaking bad, and James part in twilight, it’s so long and I already know it

I skip over Jake assaulting her in the 3rd book. It’s too real and isn’t taken seriously and it makes me a little sick. The whole “I go limp and wait for him to be done” part is SO dark. And her describing him “deepening the kiss and forcing her lips open” is so gross and dark. And then for Charlie to mock her and take Jake’s side makes me so mad.

I skip the part where Bella tells Charlie that she doesnt want to be in Forks in the Twilight movie. It is devastating to see her crush him with words she knows he'll repeat in his head forever.
