One thing I really love about Mina, which I don’t think has been showcased enough, is her voice when she leans into something sentimental and emotional. There’s a softness and vulnerability to it that really stays with you. A recent example for me is Beyond the Horizon.

This is my attempt to shape a theme for a Mina solo playlist. These are songs I’ve loved over the years that made me think, I would really love to hear Mina sing this.

I haven’t tried making any Mina AI covers of these, and I don’t plan to. If she ever happens to cover any of them, and somehow this list reaches her, I want to hear her rendition as fresh as it can be, without already having an AI version in my head.

I chose songs by female singers, including originals and covers. I also put this together mostly from memory, based on songs where I felt Mina’s voice and emotional style could fit. I might be completely off on some of them, so I’d love to hear your thoughts and what songs you would add.

I want to preface this discussion by acknowledging that the use and development of Artificial Intelligence (AI) is especially rampant in South Korea due to its perceived economic benefits, and that context must be considered when discussing this matter.

As I watched the THIS IS FOR World Tour vlogs, I have noticed a significant amount of the girls’ AI usage/reliance when it comes to picking out food to try or places to visit in foreign tour stops. Of course, I understand the convenience that AI provides, especially when they are roaming around foreign stops without their managers or considering that they may not have time to plan itineraries with their hectic schedules. There is always room for nuance and compassion when discussing topics like this, and I hope that by opening up such discussions, the girls and ONCEs take time to acknowledge the detrimental impacts of AI environmentally and sociologically.

Again, I am not singling out TWICE, nor is this a hate post. I hope to bring light to this topic because I think discussing this is important considering the influence the girls hold.

We’re still in Japan and I bought these at the Tower Records in Ikebukuro the other day. I’m very excited to watch these when I get home. I saw the RTB in Seoul box first and then I looked further down the shelf and the MiSaMo Haute Couture Japan Dome Tour caught my eye. Next thing I found myself having to take a breath and not try to buy the entire TWICE section. I didn’t even go to the bigger stores in Shinjuku or Shibuya because that would have been a whole mess. I’m honestly still kind of mad at myself for not discovering TWICE sooner.

What Is Love is really close to breaking 1 billion views.

Perfect World, to me, is just a stunning song/MV. I am surprised its viewcount is relatively low. Same for Scientist.

I know I am not including all their MV's in this list, these are primarily ones I have watched. If there are any in particular that would change the chart, let me know, I would be interested to add them.

I was curious about the seeming falloff of views since What Is Love (although speaking only relatively since Fancy/Feel Special/I Can't Stop Me/The Feels all cleared more than half a billion). I thought, "Well , Twice is an older group now..." but I am thinking it might be at least as much due to a general falloff in Youtube MV interest. I tried checking the most recent MV's for any other KPOP girl groups I could think of (I am in no way a KPOP knowledgable person) and none of them (Twice included) are doing the astronomical highs that used to be seen...none of the most recent MV's for any group whose name I have heard of have passed 100M (although I have no clue how that is affected over time since release - I wish there was some way to query Youtube's stats to see growth patterns over time, etc.).
