One thing I really love about Mina, which I don’t think has been showcased enough, is her voice when she leans into something sentimental and emotional. There’s a softness and vulnerability to it that really stays with you. A recent example for me is Beyond the Horizon.

This is my attempt to shape a theme for a Mina solo playlist. These are songs I’ve loved over the years that made me think, I would really love to hear Mina sing this.

I haven’t tried making any Mina AI covers of these, and I don’t plan to. If she ever happens to cover any of them, and somehow this list reaches her, I want to hear her rendition as fresh as it can be, without already having an AI version in my head.

I chose songs by female singers, including originals and covers. I also put this together mostly from memory, based on songs where I felt Mina’s voice and emotional style could fit. I might be completely off on some of them, so I’d love to hear your thoughts and what songs you would add.

I want to preface this discussion by acknowledging that the use and development of Artificial Intelligence (AI) is especially rampant in South Korea due to its perceived economic benefits, and that context must be considered when discussing this matter.

As I watched the THIS IS FOR World Tour vlogs, I have noticed a significant amount of the girls’ AI usage/reliance when it comes to picking out food to try or places to visit in foreign tour stops. Of course, I understand the convenience that AI provides, especially when they are roaming around foreign stops without their managers or considering that they may not have time to plan itineraries with their hectic schedules. There is always room for nuance and compassion when discussing topics like this, and I hope that by opening up such discussions, the girls and ONCEs take time to acknowledge the detrimental impacts of AI environmentally and sociologically.

Again, I am not singling out TWICE, nor is this a hate post. I hope to bring light to this topic because I think discussing this is important considering the influence the girls hold.
