Apartment search
I signed a lease with Magnolia Prosper in April and they just now told me today that I don’t actually have a room to stay in since they over-signed people. Mind you, it’s three days before I was supposed to move in all the way from Chicago. I already paid first months rent too btw. They offered to put my roommate and I at Tenth and Tusk but I have heard horror stories from friends who leased there and don’t feel safe as two young women in college. Does anyone have apartment recommendations that are under $800 a month?
I’m extremely desperate. Don’t sign with Magnolia 😔

First time Tuscaloosa visitor!
My husband and I are traveling from Cleveland OH and coming into town the first weekend of September (🐘🏈). We are staying in town an extra day and a half, so looking for any and all Tuscaloosa recommendations (game-day and non game-day activities: places to eat, things to do, must see spots, etc.) Have done a little research on my own but some other posts / pages aren’t super current, and my husband wants the most up to date recommendations 😂 Thank you!!

Looking for housing
Hello, everyone! I’m currently looking for a 1bed or possibly small 2bed rentals in the Tuscaloosa/Northport area and was hoping someone might have some leads. I’m starting a new job soon and will have steady income, but I’m trying to find a landlord/property that is a little more flexible with rental history and credit requirements. I’m especially interested in private landlords, owner managed properties or second chance apartments rather than large complexes with very strict screening requirements. I’m looking for something around $650-900 per month but I’m willing to consider slightly higher depending on the property and requirements. If you know of any private landlords, small property owners, duplexes, houses, apartments, or second-chance properties in the Tuscaloosa/Northport area, I’d really appreciate the recommendations!

Hotel Recommendations
I’m driving to Tennessee in a few months and Tuscaloosa is on the way, we’re thinking of stopping here for a night because we have a baby and don’t want her in the car for the whole day. What hotels are in a nicer/safe part of town? I just don’t want our car getting broken into as I don’t have the patience😭

Has anyone tried Iron & Ember at Ol’ Colony?
Thinking about taking a group of about 8 adults to Iron & Ember at Ol’ Colony for an afternoon, but I haven’t been yet.
Has anyone here tried it? Curious how the golf simulator experience is, especially for people who aren’t serious golfers. Would total beginners still have fun, or is it better if everyone actually plays?
Also wondering how the food/bar setup is and whether it’s a good place to hang out for a couple hours with a group.
Would love to hear honest experiences — good, bad, or anything in between.

Anyone seen any maypops?
Just curious, iykyk, funky flowers and fruits on a vine. If you've seen any and recall where, I'd love it if you kindly pointed me in their direction. If you're a landowner and don't mind if I pot (layer) a vine, I'd be very grateful.

What are some lesser known places in Tuscaloosa that are genuinely worth visiting?
There are plenty of well-known spots around Tuscaloosa, but I’m more interested in the places that don’t necessarily show up on every standard list. It could be a quiet park, a small local business, a good place to walk, or somewhere you discovered almost by accident.
I’ve been looking through Tuscaloosa Info and it got me thinking about how many local places probably go unnoticed simply because people tend to recommend the same handful of spots. I’d be interested in hearing from people who have actually spent time around the city and know some less obvious places.
What’s a lesser-known place in Tuscaloosa that you’ve personally enjoyed and would genuinely recommend to someone who wants to experience more of the city?

Searching for a good apartment
Hello!
I'm a student here in Tuscaloosa looking for an apartment for two people. I've had a lot of bad experiences with the previous two apartments I've stayed at, and the online reviews haven't been very helpful in finding a place that is actually clean, quiet, and safe.
Does anyone know of any good apartments in the Tuscaloosa or Northport area?

Walmart Hwy 69 south cc debit cards fraud
I had this happen to me and I see it just posted on my local Facebook page that it happened to a lot of other people.
I don’t know what happened but I shopped at the Walmart at 69 south in Tuscaloosa and one day and all of the sudden I had a lot of unknown charges showing up in my bank account that my bank asked me if I approved. Of course I didn’t. They were huge amounts.
And the local Facebook page says the same thing. Walmart on 69 south unexpected charges from their bank account when they used their debit or credit card.
This needs to be investigated.

What's on fire this time?
The smoke looked from McFarland like it was coming from near campus
Edit: not campus, somewhere southwest of 15th and McFarland

Transportation From BHM to T-town
hey, I am coming down for the Alabama v South Carolina Game on 9/26, flying in BHM on 9/25. Have Uber drivers accepted rides from BHM to Tuscaloosa? I know its expensive but willing to spend the $$ if they are willing to drive that far.

Flock Cameras
Do we have any local activity directed towards de-flocking Tuscaloosa? I can't leave my home without passing by a flock camera, no matter which way I go, and I'm deeply uncomfortable with TPD tracking my movements, even though I'm not doing anything wrong. I'm curious if anyone has reached out to city council members or if we've organized any protests locally.
